My mother in law just sang this song to our 16 month old twin boys yesterday, and they loved it. So glad someone uploaded this song so we could play it for them.
This song was in an episode of heart land with amber marshal and I was dining it so much but I didn't know the lyrics after marry me carry me and that's all I sang lol but thank you soo much for having this posted I've been looking like almost all day :)-3
I can 't believe I found this!!! My mom gave my brother Wes this song in the early 60's when we were just toddlers. She gave each of her seven children their own song - and sang them to us often -sometimes with all of us piled on and around her on ONE rocking chair! Oh, how we'd laugh and say "rock faster, mom" until we all fell in a heap! LOL Thank you for posting this!!! THANK YOU!
@loriksolak Glad you found it! There's something about this song... it remains in the memory from childhood (mine too) and seems to evoke that time in a special way.
@abacus19828 Hi... I seem to remember a male voice singing it in the '50's ... maybe Gene Autry? I can't seem to track down the recording. I do believe it may have been a vinyl 78, on a children's label, as ronnierythm suggests.
Yes, and that's the reason I sought it out; I remembered it from my childhood. I'm not sure who was singing it (not Ada Jones), but it seems to have stuck in my head through the decades.
I heard this on Heartland tv show.

I remember that it was heard on the new TV sets when Adlai Stevenson was nominated at the Democratic Convention. It was a campaign song for him.

@vanderpuch1 Very interesting. My parents were Stevenson fans, so that was probably the very recording that led me to seek this one out.

My memories of a 50s/early 60's "childrens record", maybe on yellow vinyl, were what led me to this version, I hadn't heard until now. Amazing.

@ronnierythm I remember the same recording, which is why I searched for this one.

My precious Great Grandmother use to sing this song to me when I was about 7 years old while having me on her lap galloping away.
You have brought back so most fond memories of her to me. I'm a little teary eye, but that's ok.
Thank you so much for sharing this song once more. Great Grandma did have her own special way of singing it.
By any chance, do you know of any place where I could get a hold of this record?

It may be available on a CD compilation. It is definitely downloadable online.

Why do I remember singing this as child, and I do (while straddling a broom stick - horses came later)? Was it re-released, generationally?
