  • This song was beautiful, you should do more videos with lyrics!

  • It's really rare to hear chinese songs that bear such intensity...I wish they could produce more pieces like that...most chinese ballads has a nice tune but are mostly predictable and hard to differentiate from each other...

  • Ma Ji Ta is learning this now, as we type...

  • The music won her the Best Composer of The Year in Taiwan Golden Melody Award

  • the lyric is good, the voice is good, the music is kinda good but it's boring like that. they can make it more attachtive to hear if the music is better

  • love her little laugh at the end

  • i like that sound, idk wat instrument it is, it soudns unique :O

  • this song is just "whoah!"

  • Wow this song is beautiful

  • pretty cute

  • Japaneses or chines

  • Chinese (mandarin)

  • yup a Chinese Malaysian

  • Can someone tell me where can i find a translation to this song and the romanization of it?

  • click "more" at the info box on this page

  • and come to think of it... shouldn't "fang qi le bao hu zi ji de ze ren" mean "gave up the responsibility of protecting myself"?

  • Also corrected :).

Perhaps you'd do me the honor of editing some of my other translations (it's only a minor hobby of mine and I would love more feedback).

    Thanks!

  • umm where're your other translations? i looked at your youtube profile and this was the only video i saw... :)

  • for the second-last line "qing zun zhong wo de xuan ze" shouldn't the english translation be "please respect my decision"?

and for the "fang qi le di kang cui ruo de tian fen", shouldn't it mean "gave up the ability to protect my vulnerabilities"?

  • Corrected to reflect your first suggestion.

I'm no authority on the Chinese language and I only piece-mealed the translation together.

I know that "cui ruo" means fragile. And "tian fen" means talent. As for "di kang"...well, I only know of "di kang li" which means immunities of the biological nature. So, while I don't think "tian fen" should be translated into vulnerabilities, I would like to get your take on "di kang".

    Thanks!

  • i wasn't translating "tian fen" into vulnerabilities...

    basically it's something like:

"fang qi le" (gave up) "di kang" (protecting/defending) "cui ruo" (vulnerabilities/weaknesses) "de" (er... signifying the possessive or whatever you call it, heh) "tian fen" (ability)...

  • so strung together in sequence, it reads as "gave up my protecting-vulnerabilities ability" which sounds weird in english syntax, so i rearranged the syntax to read "gave up the ability to protect my vulnerabilities" so it flowed better... still a mouthful but i can't think of any better way to do it at the moment. i guess there are probably synonyms that would sound better there too, but... oh well.

eh, i'm from baltimore too, coincidentally. at the moment.

  • actually come to think of it why can't it be "gave up my ability to defend myself"? i guess it misses some of the original chinese nuances but it still captures the main point anyway... uh... i dunno.

  • You don't consider "cui ruo" adjectival to "tian fen" since it is followed by "de"?

  • um... not really, cos i've never seen "tian fen" described as "cui ruo" and i've never seen the phrase "di kang tian fen" in the sense of "defending talents"... ?

you could always seek out a second opinion i guess.

  • in the same vein, i took "bao hu zi ji de ze ren" to mean "the responsibility of protecting myself" (in sequence: "protecting-myself's responsibility"). also, you don't really see the phrase "bao hu ze ren" right? usually it is something like "fu ze ren"...

hehe you can go ask other people for second opinions though.

  • 'cui ruo de tian fen' here refers to the fragile talent to love. so i translate'fang qi le di kang cui ruo de tian fen' as 'no longer trying to resist the fragile talent to love..'
