@denisJ2G it's a class C IP address, it doesn't matter. Actually, let me elaborate, since you are clearly an idiot. In short, it's not his public IP address, it's on his private network at home, meaning it can't be seen unless you are on his local LAN (I'd go into further detail, but you aren't smart enough to understand). So before you start talking shit on the Internet, know what the fuck you're talking about before you call people stupid. How does it feel to know that you're the stupid one?
youtube wii bannerbomb on (ur firmware?) tutorial..... And there u go all u need really is a SD card and mabey depending on ur firmware an copy of Zelda T.P
It isn't that it's not needed anymore, it's that the Twilight Hack doesn't work anymore. You have to use BannerBomb, Smashstack, or Indiana Pawns to install the Homebrew Channel.
So, what is the benefit of Starfall? Could I say, play Disaster: DOC on my US Wii without having to go to the HB Channel, then using Gecko or Backup Gamma to launch it?
i know that this thing blocks updates that come from discs ,but is ther any way to install that without haveing to give up the health warnings and everything else . all i wanna install is the thing that makes it so i dont have to install disc updates
Crediar, you did an excellent job with Starfall. It was very easy to use and very effective: I was able to play AC: CF on my Wii after using it, when previously it said it needed to do a system update!
One quick question, though: Starfall can enable us to play region-free games. Would this be the same as region-locked? If I imported a Wii game that's NTSC-J, would I be able to pop the disc in and just play it with region-free Wii games patch on?
Oh some questions: What do you mean *No mainmenu BGM? and *rescue menu patch to boot everything not just diag-discs? And what is the built in rescue menu? I'm waiting for your answers. Thanks! :)
#2, the Recovery Menu is what the Nintendo reps use to reinstall the IOS via recovery disks if it were to be corrupt or whatever. This hack lets you run not only recovery disks, but any disk.
WADs can mess up the console if made incorrectly. But can be EASILY recovered using an autoboot WAD manager disk, and a gamecube controller. I have a lot of WADs ive made for many homebrew apps and some N64 games, and only messed up once, if anyone needs a copy of the autoboot wad manager disk let me know....
I will give out some of my WAD files but not all of them.
exactly, the only way you can really mess it up, is if you mess up the hardware (installing ModChip, LEDs, etc.) i need to get some time and edit my Wii video (DVD drive window, Wiikey v2, wiikey status indicators moved to the front faceplate, PulseVU chip installed for disc slot ring)
well, not everyone is given a choice. Sometimes someone else updates it, or it is purchased that way. You are right the main feature of 3.3 is kinda weak and hacking 3.3 is slightly more difficult. The reason people use 3.3 is because eventually an important game will require it. You might as well get used to 3.3 now because you will need it in the future.
Say I take my only Wii remote to a friend's house and somebody perma-syncs with his Wii instead of guest-synching; how would I ever be able to pair a Wii remote with my Wii after this hack has been applied? It would be effectively bricked if you can never again pair a Wii remote!
Unless this has changed with revised hardware/firmware, you would be incorrect. Many Wii remotes were returned to Target, donated to Goodwill, and purchased by ME because people had difficulty with the first-time synching procedure. It would have been in Nintendo's best interest to fix this, so I assume they would have.
no this never happened. I had a launch wii and never had that problem. I just bought another launch wii, obviously used this time. Still no problem syncing them.
yes. The first wii was bought 2 weeks after launch and so it used the first firmware. My current wii was probably bought around that time too since it has the first chipset. It currently has the newest firmware. there has never been a synching problem, maybe just idiots not knowing how to press the buttoms.
So, just to make things certain, this is running imported games as if they were played on a Wii of the region, instead of going through another application (such as Gecko)?
If so, that's bloody brilliant :D
What annoys me mainly is the time it takes for a game to get from NTSC to PAL regions (4 months for Excite Truck, 5 months for Super Paper Mario, etc.)
will there be a screen asking what the user wants done cos i like the main menu BGM and want to keep it but want to get rid of the 'health warning' screen, etc.
would you be willing to release any more information about this procedure. or perhaps you could release the actual software you used to do this. that would be fantastic!

Everyone be careful with region free channels/wads I've heard that damaged wads can easily fuck up a console
coolkid602006 3 years ago
WADs can mess up the console if made incorrectly. But can be EASILY recovered using an autoboot WAD manager disk, and a gamecube controller. That's a good thing about the wii. Although it might get fucked up it might only get Semi-Fucked up so it is easily made un-fucked-up-able

what are the chances of this bricking my system? i'm stupid when it comes to this stuff, so maybe i shouldn't mess with it?
dxmkrew 3 years ago 5
u haave to TRY to brick it while doing this, the only way u can brick a wii is from an update or downgrader or region changer.
e.g if u get an import and it asks u for an update, if u do update u may get it bricked
jassimalaskary 3 years ago
@dxmkrew all depends on how careful you are, i know of one guide for 4.2 which gives you all precatiouns too take and stuff

I don't see the point?

cause some of us have 3.1 and can't use the store or upgrade to 3.2

So long as you can use the homebrew channel you can downgrade to 3.2 using waninkoko's downgrader.

Perma-synching new controllers requires pressing the 'synch' button on the health warning screen. I wouldn't disable it...
Did you find some way around this?
jevansturner 3 years ago
the Healhwarning is now replaced by the backmenu which doesn't wait for wiimotes to sync
crediar 3 years ago
I'm not sure if that answers my question.
Say I take my only Wii remote to a friend's house and somebody perma-syncs with his Wii instead of guest-synching; how would I ever be able to pair a Wii remote with my Wii after this hack has been applied? It would be effectively bricked if you can never again pair a Wii remote!

you are retarded. You can permasync at anytime.

Unless this has changed with revised hardware/firmware, you would be incorrect. Also, it's possible that you had not tried to permanently synch a new controller until Nintendo had already changed the procedure.
jevansturner 3 years ago
yes. The first wii was bought 2 weeks after launch and so it used the first firmware. My current wii was probably bought around that time too since it has the first chipset.
