  • vw needs to fix the transmisson shift lag from 1st to 2nd, but otherwise, perfect car!! i would buy it if they'd fix that bit.

  • wow is that thing slow 0_o no dissrespect to the driver but i bet the bug is faster.

  • 0-60 at 5grand, more or less, right?

  • LOL your top speed was 69.

  • does anyone know the exact time for this?

  • @t3m3lk0bg

Oh I thought you were disrespecting it like most people do, my apologies lol. But that's our pride and joy over here, we don't make any car really like it besides it's lesser model Z06. I got nothing but love for most euro cars though. You guys sure know how to make a car thats for sure haha. Especially the germans and italians. I think most europeans don't like our cars because of our love for V8 muscle cars and boosted 4 cylinders. I'm actually buying a GTI in a few months.

  • @t3m3lk0bg

You seriously think that? The ZR1 is the king of drag and track racing. And if the ZR1 is so shitty why does it run a low 7 min nurburg lap? And why did ferrari borrow magnetic ride suspension from GM's ZR1 and CTS-V? I'm not saying european cars are shitty but the ZR1 deserves a hell of a lot of recognition because we americans created a top notch car that can barely be touched in a drag or on a track.

  • @MrSlipknot4evr I'm not saying the ZR1 is a shitty car...it's actually the only american car I do like.. I might not be good on my facts about which would be quicker but who gives a damn..I'd drive any of those cars if I had the money lol... As I said I'm not a big fan of american cars but i do have respect for the ZR1.. :) And I don't remember saying anything about the interior

  • Did this have the launch control stuff?

  • @Muhlineks

Hate to break it to you..... but the ZR1 shits on most euro cars. It beats most ferrari's, lambos, benz, BMW'S, spykers, weissmans, astons, maserati's, bentleys, etc.... Its only real competitor n it's class is the 458 Italia and 599 gto

  • @MrSlipknot4evr IN a straight line...which in Europe everyone thinks its stupid cuz...well, it is! on a track most of the cars you mentioned would be quicker than the ZR1

  • @t3m3lk0bg Most of the cars mentioned would not beat the zr1. ferarri is the zr1's only true competitor, like he said the 458 and 599 are the only cars that compete with the car.... BUT again like MrSlipkot4evr said.... ferarri took GM's magnetic ride suspension from the cts-v. If it was not for GM ferrari would still be on the "f1 style" suspension like the enzo, so thanks to GM ferarri is in the same class. BUT too bad the 1st LS9 built produced over 800hp. So if GM actually went...

  • @t3m3lk0bg with that origional LS9 the 458 or 599 would not be even close to the zr1.

...........so........ as previously stated........ the car "deserves a hell of a lot of recognition"

Dont talk about the interior either, thats legit the dumbest shit to say, its comfortable and in a car like that its unnecessary to have some flashy gaudy interior.

  • @ChrisM187

I actually drove both the ralliart and GTI. Those were actually my top two also. The Ralliart has like 0.4 quicker 0-60 but thats about it. For about 4 grand less you can get a GTI with a eurospec chip/tune giving it 255 HP and 265 ft ibs of torque and fully loaded with leather and everything. You also get MUCH better GAS MILAGE with a GTI and 3 years free maintenance from VW. Ralliart- 17/23 highway...... GTI (stick) 21/31 highway.... dsg auto 24/33 highway.

  • @thweepz There was wheel spin through first gear thats why... smh

  • i got about 7

  • Gti or 2011 civic si ?

  • @jgpwlcs36 are you mad at yourself or something.

  • btw why did it linger so long in first and then shift through the other gears normally? looks like it made the car lag

  • @XxFightinDirtyxX its not an auto its a dual clutch

  • does that speedometer go up to 180? its a dam 4cyl. for god sakes

  • No Launch Control? :(

  • I really need some help. I am getting a first car and have about 24k towards it....whats the fastest car I could get? decent gas mileage and year (2011) plays a big role. I was looking at this GTI , a 2011 v6 charger, or a 2011 ford fusion sport. PLEASE HELP. i live in ohio with a pretty bad winter......

  • can you do one using sport mode

  • Haha europeans don't know how to drive okay lets see:

Europe has smaller and thinner roads and the cars are still parked on both sides which makes your car barely pass in between which is a challenge and practice for everyday drivers..

In america you got three lane roads in small cities which most countries don't even get on their highways.

Getting your license in europe is WAY MORE difficult and you need to renew it every once a while which means taking the same tests over again...

  • @W4TCH4W

What you are discribing is just not true. You don't have to renew your licence over again. wher did you get this "fact" from? We had this american car adapted city politiks until the late sevnties, for gods sake is over. It hardly destroyed our cities. And P.S. In yourope we have public transport America dreams of.

  • @Muhlineks you do need to renew your license at where i used to live... and take the test every time...

  • @W4TCH4W In Europe you have to take a test everytime to renew your license? I agree that Europeans can drive because some of the roads there look like they're impossible to drive.

  • @W4TCH4W You forgot the fact that probably less than 10% of vehicles produced in the US are manuals. You have no idea how hard it was for me to find a good used car with a standard tranny.

  • @supersmashist Yeah same here

  • @W4TCH4W you realise that Europe is a continant made up of several countries, each with their own driving laws, and you only have get ur licence once, and when ur 70 yrs old u need to be assessed again for fitness to drive

  • @W4TCH4W Thats a good thing, we need more of that in the us recently I got nailed in a hess parking lot by some woman in my 2011 wrx. She just barreled out of the gas pumps without looking. 1,600 worth of damage and now the car is fixed.

  • @W4TCH4W in addition to that in europe you gotta take the road test with a manual transmission if it was like that in U.S. 95% of the people would fail

  • @W4TCH4W You're being ignorant. Have you ever been to Europe? Germany, France, Switzerland, and Italy are all known for playing host to a slew of Gran Turismo events. They all have fantastic mountain roads that twist and turn for miles on end. Ever hear of the Isle of Man? It is a small island located off of the coast of Ireland. They don't have any speed limits. Or what about the German Autobahn? Same thing. Unlimited speed.

  • @W4TCH4W sucks for you then

  • @W4TCH4W Whenever I travel to the US and there's a chance of snow storms, I'm always worried about all the morons on the roads who have no clue about driving. Got nearly killed 3 times by stupid fucks behind me on the highway exit because they didn't think it was necessary to slow down well in advance due to extremely slippery road surface. Your 55 mph limit and 6 lanes in one direction usually looks like millions of sheep driving slowly in all lanes. But yeah, Americans can drive ;)

  • Not an automatic. It's DSG, and far superior to an automatic....or a full manual, for that matter.

  • automatic...boring!

  • @vectrabarnie DSG...so advanced that it melts your sorry excuse of a brain.

  • @GTI6speed i like manual transmission!

  • ouch, you are seriously redlining, i give that car 2years before you start having mechanical problems driving like that

  • The acceleration stops for almost a second at 35 mph...

  • "Why wasn't it in Sport mode! You could have dropped like 3 seconds from the 0-60 time wtf!!!" Who gives a fuck if it was in Sport mode. Wouldn't have made a difference. I know I own one.

  • Stupid test. He didn't use launch control, and still, if he thought that would be an unfair advantage, why the hell wasn't it in S mode?

  • How do you manage to launch it to achieve this acceleration? The best I can get on my 2012 dsg is 7.4 sec, but I don't launch, I just floor it.

How can I launch it? I'd like to test my acceleration to make sure I don't have a lemon.

  • @HariVIyer There are quite a few videos on youtube explaining it.

From what I could gather, what you do is turn ESP off (there's a button near the shifter i think), but the car in either Sport or Tiptronic mode, hold the brake and gas at the same time until it revs to 2.4k rpm without moving, and then let off the brake.

Good luck and happy launching! Also, it'd be worth figuring out where the powerband on these cars are so you can make sure you don't shift too late!

  • smooth transmission

  • the GTI in AT has better 0-60 times its dsg and he was using the build in launch control.

  • Is that DSG shifter ?

  • 7 seconds to 62 mph.

  • What the heck was that?

  • My dad has a pirsche that does 0-60 in 4.1 seconds.

  • @clintstrehl631 congrats, ive never heard of pirsches .... -__-

  • @clintstrehl631 Cool story, bro.

  • @clintstrehl631 Who cares?

  • huh. the tires seemed to be slipping a lot.

  • Wow my 08 focus would have been shaking like crazy trying to get up that fast.

  • At least put it in S mode...

  • If you don't mind me asking, what are your thoughts on this GTI and the Lancer Ralliart? Obviously different cars but they are basically my top two choices for my next car. I've found both to have exceptionally good handling, and are both right around the same 0-60 time. Any advice as to which one may be more fun, or a better deal?

  • @ChrisM187 My first two thoughts are FWD vs AWD and the quality of (and distance to) your local dealership. If you're in a snowy climate, the Ralliart's AWD capabilities may tilt things in its favor. They're both fun cars, no doubt about that. :) I tend to lean towards the TDI over the GTI, due to fuel efficiency, but I'd be happy to have any of the three in my garage.

  • @mpgomatic I would have to agree with you there. I am not quite as concerned with the fuel efficiency though, I mean it's a good thing when you're thinking economically but I'd say my main concern is just the fun of the drive :P It's a hard choice though, as you said there may be no right/wrong choice. I love the AWD in the ralliart but I also love how small the GTI is. Now if you put 237 HP in the GTI, well lets just say I'd be having this conversation at the dealership.

  • Comment removed

  • @ChrisM187 ralliart if you want better performance. Ralliart also looks more like a sports car. Ralliart is well suited for a young hooligan who wants an awesome, fun ride

GTI if you want better interior quality, comfort, and gas mileage. The GTI looks more subtle and quiet...it is a more sophisticated choice in that respect. GTI is well suited for a family man who still wants a fast and sporty car.

I just bought a 2012 GTI last week, I couldn't be happier with it.

  • @ChrisM187 just a tip, if you've always wanted an awd then go with the ralliart. it's actually slightly faster than the gti, however, if you want a torque beast that looks cool then gti is the way.

  • @ChrisM187 Go with the Ralliart. Very fun car to drive every day and the AWD system is outstanding in even the worst weather.

  • @ChrisM187 get the ralliart

  • @ChrisM187 My buddy bought a new Ralliart and for the money i thinks its a piece of shit and so does he. Very cheap and primitive interior mechanically its not too bad for what it is

  • holy shit those are some quick shifts!

  • that dsg took like, 7 minutes to get to 60

  • @haduko it was in auto, in manual it runs 6 flat and uf your careful 5.8

  • @haduko Drive mode yields really shitty 0-60 times. Manual mode w/ ESP off and launch control will get a much better time.

  • traction was coming on at 60mph, so does that mean he was getting some wheel spin there?

  • 6.5 seconds but lot of traction control.

  • 6.1 seconds!! And that was slippery!! In real dry conditions it musst be like 5.8!!! Gti FTW

  • at first i thought it was very slow but then i saw mhp

  • fuck that was quick off the mark

  • ESC off, DSG in Sport mode, hold brake, hold down accelerator, let go of brake = launch. 2nd & 3rd gear and amazing in the new GTI. It MOVES

  • Man! I love those quick shifts! VW makes the best DSGs!

  • Oops! You almost blew up the engine on first gear if the gear didn't change soon! You were close!

  • @imbloy542 That's what the DSG did,not him.

  • Sometimes it's hard to believe that this car is only 200 hp..

  • @WaSupKen 210 :)

  • There was a top gear episode of newer gen GTI vs a retro oldschool generation...the older one shat on it, pretty crazy

  • @anteeboy The new gen GTI featured in that Top Gear episode was an Mk4 2 litre non turbo with only about 140hp. By contrast, the 2 litre turbo GTIs like the one featured in this video have 200hp and are quite fast.

  • What's the DSG gearbox like nowaday's remember they were shockingly bad

  • so i am looking at buying a gti or a tdi and i am having a problem making up my mind im trying to figure out which one is better i know tdi better mpg but gti is faster but still decent mpg any advie

  • That was getting up! Cool!

  • love it traction on at 70mph hahahaa

  • fail shift from 1st to 2nd ....

  • @igorgrubac automatic dipshit read what he said

  • nice video man that is one of my number one car of all cars .. but try with the S gear or manual .. thanks for the video

  • slowww

  • That is seriously quick shifting done by the DSG.

  • I love DSG!!

  • シフトチェンジの速いこと。。 DSGネ申すぎ^^

  • 6.2 seconds :)

  • its cause you can rev ithigh in first but it automatically shifts in the other gears so it doesnt cause damage.

  • I like the sound it makes even if it is slow

  • @topazexploder this is not slow for a stock 200 hp fwd car in Drive........ -___-

  • 6 dislikes have the golf r

  • That was like watching paint dry. Ithought golfs were meant to be pretty quick, obviously that was wrong.

  • the DSG is actually a very fast and responsive transmission. I drove a 2011 GTI DSG and the shifting was almost instant when I touched the paddles. This video seems to have it in drive. Try it in sport mode

  • My alero does it faster hahaha

  • @krazzywhiteboy no it isnt

  • people can get to 60 in 6 flat with dsg

  • this is not GTI

  • @3dule yes it is?

  • EPIC FAIL for not using launch control you couldve cut almost an entire second off that run, thats the main advantage of the DSG, also fail for leaving ESP on

  • @mikethebeast1012 americans don't know how to use european cars...

  • @MrCosmin94 clearly not this guy

  • @MrCosmin94 Or the DSG sucks. This was in Drive.

  • @MrCosmin94

whats that supposed to mean? do europeans not know how to drive american cars?

  • @jgpwlcs36

They know, but they don't want to drive that crap.

  • @Muhlineks

cool story a gt-500 would smoke the majority of euro cars

  • @jgpwlcs36

but that doesn't prevent it from looking crappy and cheap. Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Audi...I would prefer original GT's. Face it, ther is no high class car U.S: made, that can compete with euro cars.

  • @Muhlineks

oh you dont have to tell me i have a r230 and a w211. still doesnt mean its faster than an american equivilant... plus you said americans dont know how to drive european cars (which sounds pretty ignorant) but american cars are harder to drive

  • @jgpwlcs36

yes, obviously.... do you happen to own a bugatti? i didnt think so. fuck off

  • @jgpwlcs36 What about a Veyron, would it smoke that Euro car?

  • @MrCosmin94

wow, another hater, what a surprise

  • This makes me glad I got the manual version.

  • wow, this little bugger is pretty quick. Nice run.

  • EVERYONE:

The reason why the DSG shifted at 6000 RPM in second gear was due to the fact that the driver was in D and wasnt exactly using full throttle. there is a kickdown at the bottom of the pedal which will make the car shift at 7000 in D. I own a GTI and once in a while i do the kickdown and it shifts at 7000.

  • غريت سار !!!!

  • i got just over 6 seconds my 0-60 in gti in s mode with the traction off

  • 6.2 seconds... not badddddd

  • V-TEC sounds better...

  • Dude stop hating at 6 seconds on the counter I was already at 64 mph at 7 seconds I was at 70 and slowing down .. Look out the video timer genius lol

  • why did it go beyond the redline? but shift good in the others... that car must have a issue

  • There has to be a defect there! It stayed in first gear for a YEAR after the acceleration was done in that gear. It shifted from 2nd to 3rd WELL and at CORRECT REVS! As I say, there HAS to be a defect there. Still, it looked like 6.3 s for speedo 0-60 mph, which is UNBELIEVABLE, when you consider how LONG it delayed the 2nd gear! WOW!!! Also, automatic transmission should in general NOT go beyond the redline! It should only be possible in manual mode! There are serious insurance implications.

  • my brothers 09 impreza without a turbo seems faster than this.

  • @xxxalpinexxx80 its not

  • You went too late when you were going up to second gear

  • my v8 pathfinder is faster than this.. go to my vids and you will see. i did 0-60 in 5.6 seconds..."

  • @STREETWHEELZ if you call that a 5.6 0-60 i feel bad for your math teacher, that was atleast 7.

  • Sound weird

  • Wow, it's amazing how fast that tranny ticks off the gears.

  • 7 seconds, fast 4 being so good with gas, i want this! XD

  • Comment removed

  • Fastest Tachometer ive seen so far...

    Other's seem to Lag abit

  • @form109

the dsg is also to blame here.. theres a reason why the veyron uses it, too.. its a hell of a transmission

  • If the car is in manual mode then it automatically shifts when it goes past 6grand

  • If the car is in manual mode then it automatically shifts when it goes past 6grand

  • Eww

  • I think this car would be fast if Honda made it.

  • No civic can match this!

  • please do a 2011 Kia Sedona with the new 3.5 engine with the 6 speed tranny

  • i hate to call it out to you man but u shifted a bit early in second gear about 1000rmps early...unles im mistaken u took first gear all the way to 7000rmp then second only to 6000???

  • @electricfeel2012 - Blame it on the DSG not me ... this run was in Drive ...

  • @mpgomatic i wasnt trying to put u on the spot or anything i just wanted to know if u were using the manual function on the dsg because it looked as if u held first for too long and the others too short but now that u told me i know...sorry if u misinterpreted what i said wasnt trying to be a dick or anything

  • @electricfeel2012 No sweat ... it's all good! =) One of our ultimate goals is to test the transmission / launch in each mode. It's really tough to do that right now, given our current budget/time constraints.

  • @mpgomatic yeah i get what u mean and u have been a doing a great job by the way, whenever my and my friends wanna check out a car or a car's 0-60 we go to your vids cus they basically give u what u wanna see how a car drives as a daily car, and how it performs excellent job....and please continue giving us ur manual vs auto comparisons they are extremely helpfull, and thanks for taking sum of your time out to reply to comments, appreciate it

  • @electricfeel2012 Thanks for the kind words and support!

  • @mpgomatic the car looses most of its power at around 5500 RPM or so, so shifting then would be best!

  • @mpgomatic 6.1 seconds :D

  • @mpgomatic no offence man but that's why he should blame you because this run was in drive, neither in Sport nor with launch control :)

  • @mpgomatic in drive? LMAO, Put it in sport mode FFS!

  • @mpgomatic real drivers buy a manual gearbox

  • @mpgomatic VW/Audi has really been pissing me off lately regarding this, they print one thing on the tach, and the transmission shifts somewhere else, regardless or transmission mode or throttle position. Reference the new Tiptronic B8, this car, the MK6 Golf TDI. Then take a look at the A3 2.0T DSG, it redlines itself each time it shifts at full throttle. :-\

  • @electricfeel2012 anyways, those cars dont make power past 6000rpm.

  • @electricfeel2012 Dude, who cares. You're dumb. I hate to call you out on it.

  • @xxgreggorywayne please do explain how im dumb?

  • @xxgreggorywayne please do explain how im dumb? cus u didnt say shit

  • @electricfeel2012 I think it over revved from wheel slippage. I could be wrong.

  • @electricfeel2012

it was perfect, first gear went up to 7k because of the wheel spin. With a turbo engine, you will want to shift at 6k or even 5.5k since you lose boost at redline.

  • @electricfeel2012 Ya you and the 5 people who liked this are fuckin stupid.. just saying. my opinion,

  • I like ur comment :) @R9903168

  • @electricfeel2012 automatic ya idiot

  • manual mode allows for "manual" shifting thats why i asked ya idiot

    @matthewpwns77

  • @electricfeel2012 Driving a turbo car is different from driving a NA because the max HP/Torque don't always align with the RPM. Have a look at the GTI's RPM range where the HP and torque peaks.

  • @electricfeel2012 because it was from the tire spin from first gear. the stability control was turned off. normally the car would shift at 6000rpms

  • @electricfeel2012 true but on some cars if you go out off the rev range ( into the red for example) you can loose power because your exgine is out off its peek....just saying...
