They are on a phone call lol, look at the keypad. When on a phone call apparently the phone uses a different algorithm to display bars and the 6-8 dBm loss some how make all the bars disappear. If they would of hanged up all the bars would of instantly showed back again.
@tsslaporte If that is the case and the Phone is on call call...then the bar display algorithm is not using the Receive Diversity input. If this is the case, then there is not problem at all....and Apple is crossing the legal line here....
The real TSI values and baseband reading will take into consideration both the primary and secondary branch, so the bars display test is just bogus. The call does not drop and Apple is just bullshiting people. I think this is disgusting what Apple is doing.
Yep, I believe thats correct, I remember reading some thing, that the Bar reading does not take into effect the Diversity input which is what you said, so there is some merit to this.
@tsslaporte Ok...so idle or acquisition state this problem does not happen because the dynamic Receice Diveristy feature in QUALCOMM chip set. On traffic channel, Android OS will take only the main antenna RSSI input and this bar reduction may be possible but the real baseband signal, which drives real voice and RF reliability, is not affected. This is an easy fix by taking max[Rx0,Rx1} and reporting it to the display bar fuction. Conclusion: DROID X does not have the a real reception problem
@transammatt You are absolutely right my friend. If the phone is activated on a real Verizon system, the phone should be registered and show 3G or 1X. The one on this video does not show anything so the mobile is in maybe some kind of lab with a CDMA Call box emulator where Apple engineers can control the forward link power and syncronize it with the guy doing the grip. Also, DROIDX uses a C/I calculation to map the Bars on the display with signal quality, so this test is bogus and bullshit
if you look at other compared tests, you see it says 3g next to the antenna bar, why doesn't this test show the same as the other tests, this test is 100% bogus Damn Steve Jobs Get A LIFE,

Anyone who plays with both will end up wanting the iPhone more. It feels and looks very expensive and luxurious. The screen looks better even tho it might be small and most importantly its a shitload easier to use!!! Thats why iPhone will remain the number one phone. Because of the OS. Apple test video with DROIDX is a fake. Here are the reason:
1.- DROID X is not showing the 3G or 1X icon. So the mobile is not registerd on a real Verizon network.
2.- The mobile is not camping in idle mode in a real 1X system.
3,- This mobile is on a lab environment with a CDMA call box emulator where Apple engineers can manipulate the signal power at will.
4.- Verizon bars display specs use Signal To Noise Ratios (SNR) to map signal quality to bars, so this test is just bullshit...

They are on a phone call lol, look at the keypad. When on a phone call apparently the phone uses a different algorithm to display bars and the 6-8 dBm loss some how make all the bars disappear. If they would of hanged up all the bars would of instantly showed back again.

@tsslaporte If that is the case and the Phone is on call call...then the bar display algorithm is not using the Receive Diversity input. If this is the case, then there is not problem at all....and Apple is crossing the legal line here....
The real TSI values and baseband reading will take into consideration both the primary and secondary branch, so the bars display test is just bogus. The call does not drop and Apple is just bullshiting people. I think this is disgusting what Apple is doing.

@tsslaporte Ok...so idle or acquisition state this problem does not happen because the dynamic Receice Diveristy feature in QUALCOMM chip set. On traffic channel, Android OS will take only the main antenna RSSI input and this bar reduction may be possible but the real baseband signal, which drives real voice and RF reliability, is not affected. This is an easy fix by taking max[Rx0,Rx1} and reporting it to the display bar fuction. Conclusion: DROID X does not have the a real reception problem

@transammatt You are absolutely right my friend. If the phone is activated on a real Verizon system, the phone should be registered and show 3G or 1X. The one on this video does not show anything so the mobile is in maybe some kind of lab with a CDMA Call box emulator where Apple engineers can control the forward link power and syncronize it with the guy doing the grip. Also, DROIDX uses a C/I calculation to map the Bars on the display with signal quality, so this test is bogus and bullshit

@jmcb74 Most ppl who have the new iphone do not have reception issues. I know 5 people, 3 friends, my sister and her husband that all got the iphone 4. I tried holding 4 of those ppls phones with the "deathgrip" and no bars even went down. Theres less people that have returned this phone than with any other previous iphone model. So talk all the shit u want it is still the best selling phone in history and when the iphone 5 comes out next year it will outsell the iphone 4.
