I do listen to the lyrics, many peoiple do not take any account of what the songs message is, as long as it has a heart beat or a melody,now that describes my brother, he doesn't listens to the words,but the other day in my car he was listening to "A bird without wings" sang by Celtic Thunder (on YT) I was moved to see that he was actually descreetly crying, tears were streaming down his cheeks,So lyrics really got to him for once!!
