May I remind you that Horowitz's late recordings for DG, made in his mid-late 80s, were uniformly among his best ones. Not to mention his astounding last disc for Sony Classical, all new pieces to his discography and performed more than remarkably for one of 86 years.

Why not? A much more knowledgeable fellows than me have claimed that: Horowitz's biographer and eminent critic Harold Schonberg, for one. I, for another, can't agree more. In all other periods of Horowitz's long career I invariably have favourites and things I don't particularly like; I have only the latter among his late 1980s recordings.
