Inoki always amazed me with technical proficiency. I mean, he was a great performer, and well schooled in the craft, but also his moves transcended wrestling. He was obviously trained in submission wrestling similar to what we see in MMA today, and also instinctively protects his head when he fights. There was a really nice looking waist clinch in there, triangle choke, rear naked choke, good distancing. Just a great performer, one of the best ever.

Indeed, but it's called Tiger Feint.. not "Tiger Pass" and tons of Lucha Libre style wrestlers use it.

This was part of Inoki's "Final Countdown" retirement series. I don't remember which match this was, but I believe he had chosen 10 special opponents for this series so he can retire with dignity. It was considered an honor to be selected to face Inoki as one of his opponents in this series.

That's the original Tiger Mask, one of the innovators of the style of wrestling, you know as the light heavyweight, crusierweight or the X Division. His gimmick started in the 80s based on a Japanese comic book hero. This has nothing to do with Superman or Batman.

it could have been a 20 min classic but considering this is only a 6 min and 53 sec match there was good psychology and moves that mad sense counters and reversals were done in a more realistic way. Compare this match to most wwe matches with younger wrestlers this match would be on top most of the time and these 2 wrestlers are not in their prime. The question is could you do better at the age you are now probably not. Peace.

This is a great match between 2 legends of wrestling and both of these individuals are responsible for making mma famous. Inoki was the wwf world martial arts champion in the 1970's and during this time challenged different disciplines to prove that pro wrestling was the king of sports and the original tiger mask satoru sayama was one of the wrestlers responsible for creating shootfighting which is a recognised martial art and one of the most effective styles in mma today.

Yes, Tiger King was Satoru Sayama, the original Tiger Mask. The year should be 1997. In my opinion, as this was the retiring match for Inoki, the result was planned. However Tigermask in my opinion humiliated Inoki.
