They bring them back every now and then. They first debuted in FF 6 as Terra's escorts at the beginning of the game but they die shortly after.

teach me how to trigger attack when the gunblade is swing plsss...... I try many many many many times but its not work T_T ....what is the right time i press the R1 before you press the x attack or after he swing the gunblade....

You press R1 when you hear Squall swing his gunblade. Only Squall and Seifer have triggers by the way. To strike critical hits for all other characters you raise their luck stat for higher rates of success. Which of course isn't available until much later in the game.
