@CocteauDalighari. i must say the '65 - '66 Beatle era is my favorite of all their music --- "Revolver" being my favorite alltime Beatle album --- a close second is "Rubber Soul." my guess is this is why i am so drawn to Phillips. her obvious love of The Beatles is apparent. another wonderful track from this album is "I Need Love." now, you have me wanting to hear the album in its entirety! [thanks, for the reply. have a good evening.]
love the Beatle feel to the arrangement --- amazing production --- T Bone Burnett has a way, and what a magnificent melody by Sam Phillips --- so rich with harmony possibilities. [thanks, for uploading this track.]
@eeedeebee Listen to Beatles stuff from late '65, '66: this whole CD out-Beatled the '66-era Beatles. Saw her in WDC on the tour for M&B: Jerry Scheff was her bass player.
Wow, how I love Sam Phillips....I miss this kind of music. Where did it all go? I've got to dig out the vinyl and burn it to CD so I can relive my 80s and 90s and just go back. it's like a little dying and goin to heaven....
T Bone knows how to produce a record; Raising Sand (Robert Plant/ Alison Krauss) , Thunderbird (Cassandra Wilson), Come to Where I'm From (Joseph Arthur) Soundtrack for "Oh Brother where art Thou?", August and Everything After (Counting Crows), the list goes on and on
@ssayan2 that 'last supper' was a good movie. times were really good for me during that period the movie came out. in the heart of the 90's era, a good film that was a social satire reflecting those times.
Love you Sam!!!!!!!!!!!!!<3<3<3

i remember when SAM Phillips was known as Leslie Phillips, that's when she sang her best!
esther19741974 1 year ago
@esther19741974 Leslie was owned by The Man. Sam is her own person with the freedom to use her own voice. I prefer the latter.
