  • That is so wild. So the image actually remains "burned in" for a little bit (microseconds?) before disappearing after the scanline moves on.

  • @Dibbid

Yes. The phosphors are designed with a certain amount of persistence to minimize flicker. :)

  • HOLY SHIT ITS HANNAH MONTANA

  • there are 2 people.one woman ,and the second possibly a man.71% sure that is a talk show.

  • it would be cool if you made one that starts on normal speed. : )

  • Thanks for the clip. Google has a slow motion clip that they are using to advertise the speed of Chrome. It has an LCD in the background and you can see the picture is always "on" and is slowly refreshed from the bottom. Would like to see Plasma.

  • aha! I've been searching EVERYWHERE EVER for a video of a CRT in slow motion! thank you! thank you ultraslo! wow, that truly is cool looking :3

  • thats super interesting..

  • wow .003 of a second. incredible

  • Do an LCD

  • So.. its not the whole picture ? its just a .. stick thing that goes so fast that u see a picture ?fuck this...

  • no it is a whole picture it just refresh's the screen from top to bottom.

this is happening really fast so all you see is the picture result.

  • that was what i meant but my english sucks xd :/

  • yep thats true, that's why u change anything at it will appear right away in the lcd because it's always refreshing the image so it has the image updated very fast...

That's why nowadays we have 1ms of response...

  • I don't know if you are being ironic but that is how a TV works (except it isn't a stick).

  • i mean for real, but my englsih i so terrible i cant even explain myself...

  • Wow!! I never thought i'd look like that in slowmo. Please I want to see it on computer screen, too...

  • Cool dude. you must be a wild but when gohan got all pissed...i laughed harder then i have had in a long time

  • Looks like the image on the TV was fire or something. lol

  • i wonder what plasma and LCD look like

  • You should have allowed it to continue to speed up until we could recognize the image.

  • WOW!

  • Can you record the change of LCD screen?

  • that would be extremely boring

  • Wont quite work the same, as only the input is done like this, the LCD is much faster to respond, and its actually cached as each pixil is controled.

  • But I think I would be interesting to see even the changes faster. Just wondering if the LCD would be blackout most of the time just like TV. Or find out the pixil is change per line or per pixil from left to right within a line. And the difference between Vertical synchronization on/off

  • That is awesome!!!

  • You should ultraslo this guy's clapping...

    watch?v=PNXElmEUIJo

  • Wait, that's each frame?

  • Each and every frame. :)

  • COOL!

  • cool.... now i wanna see the new LED tv's refresh in high speed..... those things refresh soooo fast...

  • It would look just like it does at normal speed, LED tv's don't scan

  • I think I actually prefer the other version of the TV scanning; the variable speed of this one is weird, and makes it feel inconsistant

  • daaaaamn i ALWAYS wanted to see this in slow motion! thanks so much for making it :D

i didnt think it would stay SO short on screen... amazing how ULTRASLO our eyes are :P

  • this is interesting.. can you post a slowmo vid for a light globe too?

  • Good idea for a video

  • I'd love to see Jeff Jarret smashing a guitar over someones head in slow-mo.

Pieces of that muther would fly all over!

  • I'd love to see an egg cracking personally...

  • personally eh?

  • do a paintball burst

  • Great vid! I appreciate it. :)

  • Reminds me of those SONARS things the military uses except it just going up and down.

  • epic FAIL!

  • you should have made the video speed up until it looked like a normal image (or close to)

  • Very interesting, but I think that the effect would work best if you started with it at normal speed then had it progresively slow down over 20 seconds or so.

  • i totally agree, start with normal speed and then just slow down, great idea. Will look better

  • if you could id like to see and video game played in slowmo

  • your an ass

  • sorry i just had to

  • like matrix code turned sideways

    greenish phosphor like

  • ...Fail

  • Shutup, this is a GOOD use of a slow motion camera, probably the first good idea Ive seen other than fucking water baloons.

GOOD video and something I've always wanted to see in slow motion.

  • lol you dont even know what i was talking about...

    EPIC FAIL!

  • was that same refresh played over and over or just the same one played faster?

  • That was one clip a second or so.

  • very cool- would have actually liked to have seen it in real time afterwards

  • just turn on your FUCKING TV if you want to see what it looks like in "real time"..

  • ahah

  • He means the same image gradually sped up. Can you make your TV gradually speed up after being at 10,000 fps?

  • and a reshoot with longer clip that shows the 10,000 fps, and slowly goes lower and lower. Until like 60fps or something.

  • Comment removed

  • i noticed that ud skipped both 3 and 9 ya prick...

  • lmao

  • Neat!

  • i dont get it... could u also post a vid of it in normal speed

  • Go watch TV. That's what it looks like in normal speed.

  • holy shit fuck didnt know it was like that

  • So close. I wanted to see it sped up to the normal speed! Then, people who don't know what screen refresh is will understand.

  • I will try to reshoot it. It will take a very large file. I do not think that speeding it up will help. I know that I can do some post magic but that will take a long time to do. We will see. They can turn on a TV too. ;)

More latter and thanks for the comments.

  • what is a "screen refresh"?

  • probably some kind of candy i dunno

  • ""What is screen refresh""

"Probably some kind of candy i dunno"

    EPIC WIN!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!

  • im sorry, that just made my day XD

  • Thats how a television shows you a picture. See, when you look at a tv its not a one whole picture you are seeing. Its like that but at a very fast rate.

  • 50 Hz to be precise... =P

  • I screen refreshed your mom in bed last night.

  • your an ass

  • It's "You're" not "your".

    btw you're an ass!

  • how am i when you make rude insults to people you dont know whn they try to show you somehting most people wont ever see in there every day life

  • wow..now you're a douchebag.

  • your just a stupied imature jackass im droping this becouse i hate people that think they can act like totale assholes becouse the other person on the other side most likely find you
