@shaggy80hunter GTO's were sold in other countries from 1990 too. Only America got the name 3000gt, and maybe japan from memory. Europe, Aus and the rest of Asia got it as GTO

1991 - 1999 they were called 3000gt, when they stopped producing them in america they were known as the GTO in the europes / asias for the years of 2000 and 2001 when mitsubishi finally canned the project.

Sounds beautiful, mine used to sound like that before I got the Stillen catless downpipe and TD-05 headers (and turbos obviously). You should grab a nice fat downpipe, really makes the thing roar.

Yeah, I know the feeling. My original N/A had the Japanese GTO emblem on the back. So many horrible questions. I don't expect everyone to know, but when they reffered to it as a Pontiac I had enough. My new VR-4 simply says 3000GT on it, I got tired of the questions.

@shaggy80hunter power to weight ratio in 3000gt is 175hp/ton. 1st gen Sti type r has 235hp/ton. Ofc numbers dont tell the whole truth, but the weight is never a good thing when cornering. At the straight line speed 3000gt might well be faster..
