However as i recall they do not know who built voltron, and it also has some form of AI as it can according to new series reject a piolet. So basically it is just a highly advanced uber powerful machine, but is alot more to it then that. Mostly kept it in the dark, i dunno if it was ever really revealed.

Poor god damned censoring at 19:03. In GoLion Ryouh (Takashi Shirogane's/Sven's brother) stabbed Sincline/Lotor under the heart, and he retaliated by slicing his stomach with his sword. Lovely gore display for a 1980's tv show. Voltron toned down the violence of the original show way too much and it was 1986 when this ran in the US.
