Actually, HC, regarding the whole pillar thing, depending on how Midgard was designed, the destruction of even ONE pillar can and probably will undermine the whole support system, thus bringing down the whole plate. Or, It might just tip over, and crush the slums and then proceed to slide down to the ground.

Actually, if you don't rescue Jessie, you can't continue until you do (unless the counter reaches 00:00 in which it's game over). I remember the first time I played this game....I forgot to rescue Jessie and I tried talking to the others and they'd say "Jessie isn't here yet" so I had to go back in there and save her xD

@scorptatious She's adopted. If you played past the first visit to the Gold Saucer, you had a boss fight with her real father in the desert prison, who was one of Barret's old buddies gone omnicidal after Shinra slaughtered their whole town and he had the same gun-arm surgery as Barret.

There's always gonna be violence, not much we can do about it. Sheltering our children from it isn't going to make it any better. Especially since TV is full of that graphic stuff now a days. Regarding the pillar, I think there are more supporting all the parts of the plate. The plate kind of covers all of the lower section in "sectors" and I guess each pillar supports the plate above each sector. As you see later, a certain event later shows that one pillar is overtop of a sector, but the rest of the sectors are independant of it.

The walkthroughs are helping me tremendously. I've only recently started playing FF7 (12 years late) and the guides/gamefaq's etc are way too involved for my taste. These vids are perfection....and narrated by the best tour guide ever.
