One of the best punk rock songs ever............based on a horrible movie. And not just "so bad it's good horrible" but just straight up horrible. The movie was a lot like an Atari 2600 game. The artwork on the box was very different than the actual product. Even this song makes the movie sound more exciting than it actually was.

@420megadeth The "Collection" version was recorded in August of 1980 at Master Sound, with Doyle on guitar. The "Walk Among Us" version was recorded in January of 1982 at Quad Teck, again with Doyle on guitar; Glenn then overdubbed his own guitar track on it...so they are both playing guitar on the final version on "Walk Among Us".

One of the unfortunate things about being "punk" is that it necessarily means you refused to follow the beaten path and paved your own road instead. It takes a while for people to appreciate your innovation and by then someone else has come along and hijacked it. The Pixies never sold many albums, but Radiohead did. And Coldplay after them. Students are always better off than their teachers. But they owe their fame to the teachers.

Plenty of people actually think that Metallica wrote the song "Die, Die, Die, My Darling" because Metallica used to do so many Misfits covers. Metallica is more of less The Misfits with a more technical writing technique. The Misfits didn't write songs with key or signature changes. Metallica does.

@pjbogart - I disagree. Nothing I have heard from Metallica's old or new music sounds much of anything like the Misfits - including what they have covered. Perhaps they were merely influenced by the sound and style of the Misfits, but it seems to stop there - because they didn't reproduce or retain that sound or style. I began listening to the Misfits in 1988 and I am almost offended ( ha ) that anyone would attempt to claim that they have similar sounds.

when i hear this song, i almost cry with disappointment because this song should be one of the greatest song ever written. But, there is only one problem, the drumming is atrocious and the treble from the symbols is distracting. I'm surprised Danzig didnt do something about this.

@philaboston Yeah this version is pretty terrible. The other is a bit better, I feel, but there's still some ridiculous high-end on the symbols. Search for it on YouTube under just Astro Zombies. The Misfits never really had a good drummer, which is part of the reason Danzig dissolved the band in the first place.
