I have no issues with my church, all attendees were well meaning, good people - as far as I knew, at least. I had a problem with the stories. Like eternal firey torture for not believing something entirely impossible to prove. That ruined many a night sleep when I was a child. Another major factor that put me off: teaching fear to children.

I encourage feeding the hungry. But if you choose to do that: make it a kind gesture, with no ulterior motive. With no strings attached. If you want to be good, be good. Don't do it in the name of some institution that has given the world so much grief. It's more real that way.

You lure hungry people with food.

People who are basically at rock bottom (being homeless and all(no offense meant)) and then preach to them, give them a bible; when they're probably grasping desperately for something to believe in.

Christians do not only preach to poor and homeless people, they also preach to rich people and to the middle class. Like it or not. :D

You can always find something to be mad at if you try to find something.

If we are preaching to the poor you say we take advantage of these people, if we are preaching to the rich, you say we only want money for our churches and don't care about the lower classes.

I don't care what denomination you are, all the religious campaigners pray on the weak. Funny, I've heard of soup kitchens, needle exchange programs and slums being frequented by religious recruiters - I have yet to see christers gate-crash the 4 seasons. Why, because you'd get told to get lost and stop bothering the customers.

Well, in your eyes it's false hope. In mine it's not. But we are not SELLING this hope, we just tell them where we found hope. :) People that call themselves Christians but SELL that hope don't understand the Christian faith. Well, in the eyes of anyone who didn't have this BS (belief system) crammed into their skull since birth; it's just a story. I was christian, born & raised. But, I eventually noticed how terrestrial it all was. It's about the institution, not the real God.

If it was the true bastion of the alpha & omega, lord & creator of all things... don't you think would feel it beyond the point of knowing.

Since I turned my back on institutionalized religion I found the true meaning of humanity, & 'God'.

I feel it beyond the point of knowing. =) That's the great thing about it. For me it is not about the institution and I hate how some churches distort the christian faith into a institutional religion. And 'yes', if it is only about the institution it's crap!

Well, and I guess you know, that it's not only people that are born and raised in a christian family that actually believe. It's also people, that experienced, how getting to know God totally changed their lives.

Thanks very much. I became homeless last year here in Los Angeles while battling cancer for the 5th time and my sickle cell is also a huge problem for me as well. I have this program i started called DO SOMETHING SATURDAY~that empowers people. It's mostly an outreach to homeless people, but I also help low income families and seniors.

Thanks very much for your hard work and willingness to show people really do care.
