The reason I don't like the volt is because the EV1 was a volt. They had prototype models where they would put a generator inside and suddenly you have a volt! Then of course they crushed all of them and waited 10 years for another car company to release an electric car and finally the volt was "ready" to be released. Except they limit the batteries to only cycle 50% to increase gas consumption...I mean extend battery life...
@DvvdJD All I'm saying is that the car can go 80 miles on a charge and they limited it to 40. I would prefer the option, as the consumer, to use my car as I want to, and not to have software installed which burns more gas.
I like the better handling....safer Segway leading the funeral :). What an ugly piece of shit this car was. I guess I'll pull over on the highway and recharge for 12 hours! Good luck! Oh Steve Guttenberg and the Stonecutters killed the electric car!
I am not an environmental person per se, but if we have the ability to produce a vehicle that does not pollute, we should manufacture it. I firmly believe the oil companies are quashing the electric vehicles just so they can keep a profit. I think if they get the infrastructure right, the Nissan LEAF and the Chevy Volt will be a hit. And the technology will only improve. 100 miles range in 2010 could end up being 500 miles range by 2015, who knows. Electric cars are the way of the future.
No it's so cool! I nearly cried when I saw the documentary. I hope the Chevy VOLT will come hear soon. Or else I hope GM goes bank along with Shell and Texaco!
It's very a shame that GM did this.. I can't believe it... If they had pursue this, they would probably be the leader in this technology. They get what they deserve.
@kotdrop - It's not supposed to be an electric car, or a hybrid. So what you said isn't even relevant. How could it be hybrid if you can potentially go an entire lifetime not using gas?
@DvvdJD It still a piece of shit. They're selling mere hundreds of volts a month while their other cars sell by the thousands/month. There was alot of hype built up for this car but its still another plug in hybrid.
y are there rav4s there

@awkpidgin - I understand your point, but, I would rather have my battery power limited to make the car last longer... It's a good engineering move.

This car was ugly. The chevy volt looks alot better. Regardless I'd never trust an electric vehicle

How is the Volt a better solution than the EV1?

All those cars were CRUSHED by GM. They drive past the camera in silence - it is amazingly moving scene...

Just one more reason I won't mind seeing GM crumble.

If they kept this going the Chevy Volt would not be a idea it would be real!

@thomashome05 - The Chevy Volt is real...

@DvvdJD The Volt was a pathetic attempt at an electric car, its nothing but another hybrid.
