  • Fresh Fest!!!

  • thats that shit!

  • 1:20 Nas with the red hat on

  • early years :(((

  • This album is a classic with large pro at the prod yeeeaaah one of my favourite hip hop album breaking atoms :)

  • THIS VIDEO WAS ONE OF THE RARE FEW TO SHOW VINTAGE CLIPS OF HIP-HOP'S GOLDEN ERA.MAIN SOURCE'S BREAKING ATOMS ALBUM WAS WAY AHEAD OF IT'S TIME.I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT EVEN MADONNA SAMPLED THEM.YES ''THE MATERIAL GIRL'',MADONNA.THIS VIDEO IS A PERSONNAL FAVORITE OF MINE.IF YOU LOOK REAL CLOSE...A YOUNG ''NAS''IS IN THERE,TOO.

  • And this track still moves the crowd cause i was at this party at this record shop the other night and the Crowd nuts when this was played.

  • "Sleep Till 12... then go to the mall!" This CD is top ten ALL TIME!!!!!

  • This songs making me feel shit cause I wanted to be this age in the 90s! DAMN

  • Sure already stated but multiple shots of a VERY young Nasir Jones!

This is one of my top 10 hip hop songs of all time. No Joke. Crazy beat!!!

  • Boss must have stolen this beat for "Deeper" two years later in '93.

  • Exactly what I was doin' in '91 ... Just Hangin Out ... listenin' to dope ish like this.

  • if you like main source you might like this /watch?v=IuQYv_LFRLQ&feature=related

  • Anybody notice Nas in the background rocking a snapback? lol

  • No more classics anymore talk about dissappointment.

  • Your whole aura is plexiglass

  • nas had dreads lmao

  • Bet ya'll didn't see my dude Nas in the video......

  • @crownill 1:18 with the red hat,

he's seen through the rest of the video after 1:18

  • extra p is such an underrated producer, this beat is smoother den ice

  • I will drop these lyrics on you anytime, anywhere. I'm mainly known for the rough raps...

    Pepperoni slices!

  • @ babah77088 haha... its just bam bam.. artist: Sister Nancy. regaee genre

  • this was my shit 20 years ago!!! where are they now??!!

  • @longboi15 Large Pro still rhymes and produces like crazy, those "other 2 DJ's" vanished a long time ago.

  • the stalag riddim strikes again

  • R.I.P Paul C

  • Even after 20 years, I still love this song!!!!

  • bam bam belong bam be long

  • One of the best rap songs ever recorded.

  • MASSIVE CLASSIC !!!!!

  • anybody know that sample? i know dmg sampled it too with you dont hear me tho

  • @juswolf22 "Sister Nancy - Bam Bam" Sampled here !

  • @juswolf22 I'm not entirely sure, but I think the beat and violin are in Gwen McCrae's '90% of me is you', that might be the original. And the vocal and horn type I think come from the Sister Nancy's 'Bam Bam', which ObiKemi mentioned. All great songs...

  • "Peacing with CL Smooth and Pete Rock making beats that were sharper than cleats" that was one of the illest lines and at the time I had no idea who Pete Rock and CL Smooth were

  • One of Hip Hop's Classic Albums. And it was underrated during it's time. This was the album that intoduced us to Nasty Nas - "the rebel to America" & Akinyele before the classic "Put It in Your Mouth".

  • real legends of rap music

  • laid CLASSIC HIP HOP...DAMn you dont hear joints like this ANY MORE IT NEEDED BADLY!

  • bammmabamabidam bammm bamababama bidamm

  • SO FUCKING REAL

  • Damn!!! this shit goes hard. Epic man, btw, im just hanging out shootin pool with my friends at the moment, party on mother fuckers.

  • he looks like camron

  • this video flawlessly drafted the aesthetic blueprint of what being a fly b-boy meant in the early 90s. This song (Large pro's flow + lyrics + music) is and remains to me the original soundtrack of that lifestyle . imperial shit.

  • Say word that got that Sister Nancy Big Tune sample! This is a very good day for Hip-Hop in Toronto!

  • i always thought Large Professor made some of the best beats in Hip-Hop

  • This joint bring back the days I used to run home from school to catch Video Music Box on channel 31, Uncle Ralph, Crazy Sam, Tuffy and the whole crew, thank God for YouTube, where we can still see these classics

  • big ups to large pro and main source. and ppl... dont ever believe that real hip hop ever died. it just evolved. this shit molded me like so much other material in this era.

  • nasty nas on the stoop...:

  • this is so hip hop!!!!!! and it's gone now....

  • That just took me back! Classic material right there!

  • IF you mf's think all hip hop at this time sounded like this your smoking crack, gangster shit...violence was always around hip hop

  • I still the "cassette." Yes, I said cassette. Love this!

  • I know time goes forward. However, the old skool' hip-hop (not rap, yes there is a difference) is timeless!

  • This brand of Hip Hop was good for the brain cells. Thank God for underground rap.

    Peace.

  • Classic shit!

  • Real talent ....not manufactured BS....

  • Im a huge Main Source fan, but, when i think about it, since Large Professor was a genius producer, did Main Source really "need" TWO DJ's??? I never saw the point in that

  • @Rustyparapper Have you EVER listened to Lookin @the Front Door? The cutting & scratchin is by 2 DJ' son... Its like having 2 guitarists in a group.. It ENHANCES the FLAVA!!! ok???

  • @Rustyparapper Their mother was there manager and she ran the group (into the ground). She is the reason we cannot have "Think" played on "You Tube" and she is the reason (her Actual Records label) is the reason "Think" was on the "Breaking Atoms" album.

  • Large Pro!

  • Who's the white dude? Not asking cause he's white.. I'm just curious.

What's amazing is that the Large Prof.,was just a teenager when this shit dropped & yet had so much depth & soul about him.

  • the legendary Large Pro is still doin it big!

The Sister Nancy 'Bam Bam' sample is STUPID FRESH!

  • pity. These guys think they doin a cool thing.Hahaha funny material.Rappers think they are menace and dangerous but in reality they are just playin kids.

  • If it's true to the style, support.

  • classic hip hop shit lives forever

  • hahaha i love 3:00 some kid runs by an snatches the joint :D

  • REAL

  • I mean this is what Hip-Hop has to be again. Yea, music changes, but when it comes to hip-hop I mean there has to be a knowledgeable debate on what hip hop is, and Garbage is. And Thats 2day's music. There is nothing I mean Nothing that can be beat 90's hip-hop. I remember having this cd on da bus jammin to this. The GOOD OLE Days. Word is Bond!

  • fuckin dope

the audience that made hip hop this big billion dollar industry is not getting serviced we need more good music and shit and not these fast food songs we have on the radio today

  • large prof is hot as hell in this video

  • 1:40 SUCH A DOPE SAMPLE!!!! LARGE PRO

  • That's classic Sister Nancy.

The entire track is just ridiculous.

  • Large Prof taught DJ Premo how to muffle the bassline on a track, and premo taught him a thing or two...but word is Premo was schooled by Large Pro...word!

  • muffle, bad way to describe, muffling is when you do that with your hands like on a guitar/bass. Or stuff a pillow in to your drum kits snare/bass.

The term you are looking for is 'compression'. Since this song is sampled from a 70's album, its likely something well recorded, and compressed/mixed on an SSL studio setup.

The rapper/producer of this version would have also compressed the 'loop' as it their is some drum machine underlay, which sounds like an 808.

Don't spread what ya don't know.

  • I was the recording engineer on this/ No SSL, No 808..A little compression, but good eq and analog recordin

  • You we're? You mean the original track? Who's it by? Trying to find the source.

  • It's Sister Nancy BAM BAM, she is a reggae artist from the late 70s early 80s. Grew up listening to her and her brother Brigadier Jerry

  • ah man right on, thanks a lot for the info.

    Best

  • good ear man.....btw...whats up with that username? haha w/e

  • @metrOjedi

No, the word he means is filter, as in filter the higher frequencies out of a sample to isolate the bass. Compression has absolutely nothing to do with it. Don't spread what you don't know....

  • @anthonyaccurate Its clearly sampled, and filtered as you say, just to get some separation for re-sampling. Never hurts to compress something which was poorly done to begin with, so I asked. Just listen to the original. It is improved upon by this method.

  • ...like the kid from the bridge named the rapper nas,

me and che collect money in bars ... yes!
