  • Rick =\

  • I really love this song..I love no other song but this one..

I always play this when Im blazing..no lie

  • love it! the whole Böblingen gig is so beautiful. I just can't get off Pink Floyd, it's like they're part of my life and without them I'd be missing lots of wonderful nights and moments :)

I think you've got it right, the band is in pure empathy - nice said!

  • I still think the Superstars in Earl's Court is my favorite version. I study it.

  • @rorshakks This one of Boblingen sounds similiar to the Superstars one, but it's longer.

And it has those marvellous suffering pictish rants...

  • @rorshakks Mine too.

  • How can I get the audio of this? I had never heard this version before...

  • @1LaOriental I have no clue. Search the Internet.

  • 6:07 - is that Roger - and is that prerecorded or is he making all that racket live right there during the performance? I effin LOVE it.

  • @charadeyouareha yep, Roger himself is doing the pictish rants.

(so I answer you even to the other question on part two)

Pictish rants are some sort of Pict language, mixed with some scottish dialect.

    :)

  • @arbermagique thanks! .

  • Eerie song and feelings that I longing for. Always FLOYD.

  • i love to play this song when im with my friends who like rap it always freaks there minds

  • anybody know how to download the mp3 from the link you posted. I click download but a quiz comes up!!!

  • This is great, but w/ all due respect, the original studio (single) version is still a concise, special, classic Floydian journey All its own...

  • The really frustrating thing about this is that there are soundboard tapes from all of these shows locked away in vaults somewhere, because Nick Mason said in his book that around this time when they were experimenting with playing new tracks live, that they'd tape the shows, play them back afterwards, and work out where they could improve on. In some cases they would even take the tapes into the studio.

  • Thank you too: arbermagique, for this so much Great Version indeed i 'm still listening after more than 40 years from the middle sixties on being at the same age: dAb +>

  • GRAN VERSION

  • I downloaded this bootleg before my computer crashed, it was titled " Return of The Son of Nothing" could you help me find it again.

  • The mp3 is on the description of the vid.

    :)

  • This version of "Careful" is beautiful. I need this bootleg... Thank you for this post, arbermagique.

  • Sporthalle, Boblingen November 15, 1972

    :)

  • Thank you! :)

  • what is the name of the bootleg that you can find this version on

  • i have the kqed version of careful with that axe, eugene on my channel

  • Comment removed

  • It's from The Boblingen concert, 1972-15-11.

You can find it under the name "The Return Of The Sons Of Nothing"

There are even two killer versions of One Of These Days and Echoes (under the name: Looking Through The Knotholes in Grannys Wooden Leg)

    :)

  • Thanks, this is the last remaining bootleg I need to complete my collection!! I have been looking for that concert on CD for about 15 years. Still don't have it but great to hear a piece of it. Apparently Echoes is a very good version too. Thanks again.

  • Hi, do you know what he is saying in Gaelic?

  • Comment removed

  • he is of scottish heritage- not gaelic.

  • he is speaking in a very exageratd scottish accent, i shld know coz am scottish.

  • My personal favourite live version is from Golden Hall, San Diego October 17th 1971 - 13:35 mins it builds up to an amazing scream.... I have never been the same since..... OM

  • Dude, I was at that concert. Is there any way I can get it??

  • wow i was 1 years old lol now im a fan one of my favorit songs

  • I really wonder how much such an indefinite piece as "Careful with that axe, Eugene" was improvised or planned by the band when performed live...

Anyone know what coverbands like Aussie PF did/does ?

  • pink floyd is genious

  • Thank you immensely for posting this!!! :-)

This is just one of the many Pink Floyd songs that are taken to another level live. This is one of the ultimate and best live Pink Floyd songs EVER!!!!!

  • Still this is not the best.....

Try Philadelphia-US-1970-09-26....and your mind will not belong to this world

  • really?,, why not do a video with that version? :p

  • Un-effin-real. Spooky song to begin with, but this is IT! Thanks for the post

  • awesome

  • Wow! Live in Boeblingen 1972!! One of the best nights in history of Pink Floyd!! This is the best version of Careful with that axe eugene!! Roger Waters is great!!!!

  • Yeah!

    You know you're right man!

    :D

    Pink Floyd were great!!!

  • This version is great, but this has to be my favorite,

    watch?v=tMpGdG27K9o

  • top five live performances

    1.Shine on 6-9 Montreal 1977

    2.Pigs(3do) Fort Worth 1977

    3.Shine on 6-9 Oakland 1977

4.Careful with that axe, eugene Boeblingen 1972

5.Have a Cigar Munich 1977(amazing riff! David is guitar god!)

  • Amazing video man!! Amazing sound quality....and amazing scream!!!!!!!

  • Gilmour and Waters wrote "Dogs", not Pink Floyd in its entirety.

  • pink floyd wrote a fuckload of songs and this isnt romotely amusing youve been doing this for about a year now just stop it its annoying to everyone so give it the fuck up you sad bastard

  • Long live to Roger Waters

  • Anyone able to figure out what Rog is saying? My favorite versions are the Pompeii and Man and Journey ones.

  • i think hes singing the lyrics too the ending of several species. Which makes this song amazing

  • GREAT!

  • Sweet.

  • this song isamazing..i love pink floyd

  • Your video is very very very awesome!!! Tottaly!! Pink Floyd is the greatest prog band, without similar bands.

Roger, Rick, David and Nick were fab.

    And You rule. Thanks, Arbermagique.

Sorry for my bad english, i'm brazilian...

  • Thank you for posting this fantastic version.

I have never before in any versions of this song heard Roger like he is heard from 6:00. It makes me think of something from The Wall...

  • Check out my other videos, you'll hear a similiar version made by our band...

    Thanks for the comment.

    ;)

  • them 'rants' scared shit out of me when i first heard this version! never expected that!

  • can anyone out there burn me a copy of this version onto cd?

  • Search google for infloydwetrust hub. You'll find lots of bootlegs. This one's from the bootleg "The Return Of The Sons Of Nothing" of 15 Nov 1972.

    Enjoy.

    ;)

    p.s. there's even part 2 ;)

  • i never new that- you learn something new every day dont you?!!!! i used to have an outrageously brilliant version from late 71 on the US tour-it was quite a long rendition which was slightly slower than usual. one of these days on it was wicked too-it had all these wonderful, wierd sound effects that stretched the track out to at least 10-11 minutes! id love to know how he used to manage those spine tingling screams.

  • You actually breathe and scream inwards... it's a neat trick, and very useful for covering Pink Floyd, or sneaking up behind people and seriously freaking them out.

Just toy with it for a bit. It's amazingly fun. :)

  • Thanks, I was trying to scream outwards.

  • my all time favourite pink floyd track. this is a superb rendition. one of the best versions ive heard is from sheffield december 22nd 1970, also, montreaux september 18th 1971. just as a matter of interest, what is roger waters? saying around halfway through?

  • They're great versions too...

But I must say that every Careful is a World a part. I prefer those of 71-72, because Rick, uses the hammond on the solo, instead of the Farfisa used in 69-70..

Anyway, it's difficult to translate or at least to understand what Roger says.

They're called the pictish rants...It's a language of the Picts, an ancient non-celtic population who lived in Scotland. They later disappeared...

I believe that something was taken from the verses Roger yells on Several Species

  • Whaaaaaaaat a triiiiiiiiiiiip!!!!!!!! ;DDDDD

  • Where the heck do you find Pink Floyd bootlegs? I have looked online and all I see are discography listings of bootlegs and no download. Perhaps you can point me in the right direction?

  • I take them from IFWT Hub, at infloydwetrustdotcom

They have everything and trade them all.

    ;)

  • I like the Pompeii version better and the version with the greenish Roger Watters picture or whatever

  • Well, the "Greenish" Rog Waters picture is the video from the Brighton Dome (where I took some snapshots that I put in this video).

The version of Brighton Dome is one of the best versions ever, of Careful. But to me, this is the best!

Anyway Careful is such a powerful song...

And it remains so mystic and magic...

  • I like the Pompeii version better and the version with the greenish Roger Watters picture or whatever

  • What show is this bootleg from?

  • 15 November 1972 Live at Boblingen.

    ;)

  • Thanks, I'll have to look around for it.

  • Yes, there are some bootlegs that sound great. And this is one of those...

    ;)

  • this is awesome man .

  • Yep. It's pure magic.

  • Wow!

You did a good job man!

Never heard this version! That's awesome!

  • Thanks. ;)
