Haven't had a dream in a long time. See, the life I've had can make a good man bad. So, for once in my life let me get what I want. Lord knows it would be the first time. Lord knows it would be the first time.

  • Beautiful cover !

  • Great Cover! But, the movie makes me sad.

  • ENGLAND!

  • really dont know what is the main theme on this song

but i really think anybody who had violence as a part of his life, could really appreciate this song as deep as it shows, just like in "this is england" , fits in like a glove

  • Hermoso... absolutely beautiful

  • like if this is england end scene brought you here!!!!!!!!!!

  • amazing cover.

  • This song was perfect for the end of the movie 'This is England'

  • I really like this version.

  • Not as good as the smiths... But better than Muse that was poor!

  • And lyrics?

  • Any 40-year-old can so easily identify with this song an fully understand the vibe. 1986 feels like yesterday.

  • @antonymoura2000 I'll agree with that, just turned 42 ughhhh!!!!!

  • I love The Smith, I love, I saw the movie a few ago,,, so,,,, Hoh is possible don't love this song?

  • God knows It would be the first time ♥

  • 15 people..Just dont understand music

  • Simply Awesome............nuff said

  • Beautiful

  • possibly the greatest cover of all time...

  • LOVE IT!

  • Gorgeous.

  • Lord knows this is the best cover in this song keep it up!

  • great, the voice from "Sunhouse" (1998).

  • Im using this as a backing song for my drama exam tomorrow set in the plague time, if this song doesnt move the audience then i dont know what will!! : )

  • does anyone know the chords for this version?

  • great song and great version

  • This makes me think of my years as a kid, visiting my grandparents and kin in Gothemburg, climbing the cliffs and looking out the ocean, hearing the seagals do their annoying yet sentimental sound. The Innocent days <3

  • <3 . . .

  • So many times I've felt this song like it was truly mine

  • i have to agree the movie was good as was the music.

  • my favourite song ever! originally by the smiths but now Clayhill's version.

  • This Song is the definition of beautiful (: my favourite song ever (:

  • Somebody needs to upload: Clayhill - Alpha Male, or the album 'Small Circle'

    Really really good album

  • i just coverd this song on my page if u care to listen

  • does anyone have the chords for this?

  • As much as i love The Smiths, this track has never sounded any good by them. Clayhill managed to capture the melancholy beauty of it. The lyrics fit far better with the Clayhill composition than The Smiths original one. Hate to say it, but Clayhill perform this much much better...!

  • @JessicaLesley1991 I second that.

  • @JessicaLesley1991 I second that.

  • Very good song, great movie....

  • The movie This Is England Was BadAss!! Made Me Cry At The End...

  • Priscus----Songs do actually belong to an artist, hence copyright!!!! But you're quite right, they do get covered and have different arrangements...With permission these are released..But you'll get some that ya like and others ya hate...I think this is a good cover,i also like the version by Muse....

  • All the people who are getting upset about this:

    1) Songs don't 'belong' to an artist. They get covered and reinterpreted - that's what happens. Live with it.

    2) This is a very good cover of the song. It's not doing any disrespect to the Smiths, it's just different. This is a good thing.

  • I don't usually like covers of really awesome bands like The Smiths, but this is awesome.

  • shite i wish pricks would stop ruining this song

  • Gavin Clark is fantastic! I love him and I would die for him. Yepp, you read it.

  • THIS IS ENGLAND!

  • @heyman6661992 No... THIS IS SPARTA!

  • @MilehamJ No, England.

  • @SuperJellybeanzz Oh sorry, my mistake...

  • @MilehamJ LMAO

  • Right, this is no word of a lie, but I have literally listened to this song approximately 10 times since discovering it. Beautiful, astounding, lovely!

  • Gavin Clarks really should get more recognition for his work .

It truly depresses me to think of all the junk that passes for music these days thanks to money orientated dick heads like Simon Cowel .

  • @zippL0ck

This song is The Smiths'. Not this faggot's

  • @lucaslmgv Funny u should say that, The Smiths are faggots...HAHAHA

  • Gavin Clark, is a genius, this beautiful and meaningful song is now even more beautiful and meaningful, thanks to the Gav.....

  • Gavin Clark is just awesome, as is this song and version. The Smiths original was the most influential song of my life! Though the lyrics are simple, they are painfully poignant. I massively urge anyone who likes this version to find Gavin Clark's first band "Sunhouse," and listen to their debut album "Crazy on the Weekend," It's just class. The song "Swing Low," is right up there with "Please, Please...,"

  • The guy singing reminds me of stephen fretwell, take a listen and see

class song written by morrisey/marr, and performed by clayhill

  • love it

  • it is impossible to listen to this version and not be moved. Sure turned me inside out the first time i listened to this, and every time since. It is one of the best covers i have ever heard. It is simply beautiful.

  • @cowgirlcochise I don't its possible to listen to pretty much every version of this song and not be moved. Its just such a wonderfuly bittersweet song. Gets me every time,

  • awsome!!!!!

  • thumbs up if u watched this is england

  • love the smiths - this is a beautiful cover x

  • its good, but its not the smiths.

  • the is good but the smiths origanal version is better

  • @MrBrown09 - if you said what you commented to me in person about this cover being better than the original, i would slap the taste outta your mouth. This cover is AWFUL and certainly not remotely close to even being mentioned in the same sentence as The Smiths version. I am appauled by your ignorance and simple mindedness. You must be very young and legally deaf?

  • quella degli Smiths gia era un capolavoro, ma questa è ancora meglio!!!

it's not easy remake a masterpiece, but Clayhil did it. I think it's better than the original

  • I didn't know Nick Drake was alive to cover the Smiths! But seriously, this is OK but doesn't touch the original. It's not even fair to compare Smiths covers to the originals.

  • This Is England

  • STUPENDA!!!

  • Desde España ¡PAKIBASHING!

  • I heard this version first... and I've loved it more than any other version of this song... This is so beautiful.

  • great song indeed!

  • can someone name afew of the chords that work in this song with capo 2nd? ill chart it all out if someone can get me started and guide me in the right direction, the smiths chords dont work for this version

  • Comment removed

  • @captiandemocracy just check google go for song title and aftr it chords

  • @captiandemocracy verse 1: c,g,c,g,em,f,g

    verse 2: f,g,c,g,f,g,am

    then repeat twice

  • @sneeble1

this sounds terrible, its too low even w/ a capo 2

  • @captiandemocracy ah sorry i think thats the original version

  • This is England

  • @breakingdawn134 They smashed it with the film and the soundtrack mate. Proper moving

  • love this even more than the original. his voice is amazing

  • im burnin 4 u

  • a brilliant cover for a brilliant film.

  • great song shame it was the smiths originally

  • quality tune, tinderbox's version is a bit emo but worth checking out too, thanx for posting ;-j

  • awesome, sure! I love this in the final "This is England" scene.. so touching

  • Love this song...

  • Such a great cover. Really grabs you, makes you feel like it's your song.

  • i accidently came across this band, and what a beautiful mistake.

  • @riipley Anything beautiful is not a mistake

  • I think this is the best cover of the song

  • @S67Snail without a doubt..........

  • i love gavin clark - he is a genius

  • I agree with Mr.BillyMorris12-- you are fools for not knowing who sings this song originally.

  • awesome!

  • I believed after hearing what Ryan Adam's done with Wonderwall that a another cover could/would be never replicated with such poignant beauty; oh how wrong was I.

  • Can someone tells me who's doing the original?

    Thanks!!

  • the smiths!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @darkdark6 The Smiths search on Google!

  • isn't the original by the smiths?

  • the smiths you fool

  • The smiths

  • ...as they say in the north east of England - this is MINT! Love it.

  • Beautiful. <3

  • this is my favourite cover of this song

  • nice..

  • Does anyone have a download link for this??

  • Please, please, please. Let me, let me, let me, let me, get what I want, this time. Get what I want. This time....

  • to anyone who thinks this cover is pish, search for the ending to the film 'this is england', where this song is used in the movie. it really puts the song into context.

  • i adore this cover... it's amazing. the end of this is england is fucking emotional like.

i've got a cover up of this song as well, one that i done.. it's nothing like as good as this. but if anyone wants to come and watch it, maybe rate it and say hi to me, you're more than welcome!

but even if not, this is amazing. all the best..

    mark.

  • i am NOT liking this at all!

  • The muse cover better haha its awful!!

  • I heard that in This is England movie.

  • Fantastic cover guys...I love The Smiths and this shows how great there music was...and still is !

  • overwrought? thats such a cynical comment .This is in the same Gavin Clarke laconic style he's been singing in for years without any whoreing to mainsteam recognition. I believe Clayhills sound matches beautifully with this song and really brings forth the emotion of it. a subtle power through beauty..I can't fault it.

  • the ending is powerful.

  • have you somebody a lyrics of this song?

  • this cover is too good..

  • the whole point of a cover is to make it different, this is why i prefer the muse version, this one is good and but the muse one is better, then the smiths one is awsome cuz its the original

  • Just saw the movie, had to google to see who this was?

Lovely song...boy - can relate to the message..

Be pleasant dreamin tonite with this.....

'Not so wild anymore' Bill from Beantown, Ma.

  • meh on the singing. The guitar work is pretty fab though.

  • makes me sad :[

  • love love love!

  • I LOVE this song. I think it's way better than the original. It just captures the emotion that the lyrics portray for me better than other versions

  • so simple but powerful. typical smiths.

    Great cover.

  • Gavin Clark's voice is just incredible :)

  • what a beautiful song

  • Its the best

  • beautiful

  • Heard this one in "This is England". It fit to perfection......... brilliant music

  • This song is so sadly underrated, it deserves much more praise than it gets...

  • love it (L)

  • awersome cover, awesome band/artist. A lot of Clayhill/Gavin Clark stuff appears on Shane Meadows fils, suits them brilliantly. Quality film too

  • you just dont get it .. awesome song..

  • Yeah I don't get it. But I bet there is some things I like and people don't get them.

  • bugger off then pal, how did you even stumble across this if you don't like it?

  • Isn't it great in youtube, that you actually can stumble across NEW things you never heard or saw before? I did give this a shot (random related video to some other random video) but it didn't shoot me back the right way.

  • fair enough, but saying BORING! isn't going to earn the best response ever :P

  • Was actually first thing that came on my mind while watching that. Like you see, if someone said AWESOME for this song you would agree, BORING is not allowed as it differs from general mood of this song doesn't it.

  • This is my favourite cover of this beautiful song.

  • R.I.P MJ! P.S - Love this tune!!
