When 5 years old (1949) I'd get up every Saturday morning never to miss the Stuart Irwin Show (Bringing up Father) on TV. Years and years later I was able to catch some programs on the internet and had the opportunity to see thru adult eyes what the heck was it with this program that got this 5 year old out of bed on 7AM Saturday mornings: it was Irwin himself, honest guy who loved his family. It resonated with me as a youngster. He was a genuine. And the kid back then just 'knew' it!
