hi hasserl. I'm 21 years old and have been an Allman Bros fan for as long as I can remember. This is one of my favs and you do it justice. Fantastic job!
Although you don't play it "by the book," I thought it was a really cool rendition. Of course Duane finger-picked it, and you aren't finger-picking. Then again, if we wanted to hear the original, it's on a good album that we could just go buy! A nice version well and well played.
Thanks Doc. It's not "by the book" cause I aint got no book. LOL!!
That is a favorite song of mine I picked out many years ago, long before there was a youtube or even an internet. I never realized how many people also really love this song. Had I known how much attention it was going to receive I would have taken the time to do a better job of it. It's nice to know so many people share a love for the song though.
That's cool Eric. I never claimed to be a great player. This wasn't a planned video and I didn't warm up to play it, I just grabbed a guitar and the boy and I went out to the shop and we shot it; more as an experiment with the camera then anything else. I don't know, there seem to be a few people here that like it.
By the way, I did a search for Eric Baines videos, I thought for sure you'd have something out there to show us your skills. I didn't find anything, imagine that.
It's an old Kay archtop. I don't know the age, but I assume it was made in the 60's. It is a bit rare in that the body and neck are all mohagany. It was high end for Kay, which is normally associated with low priced instruments. A lot of these old archtops tned to have loose neck joints and high string action. This guitar has nice tight neck jint and good low sting height. The tone is very different than your typical flat top guitar, and I think it is a good match for this song.
Very cool!! Nice sounds!!

Great song, great rendition...what is the tuning? I heard two guys play this backstage at an Emmylou concert in the 70s. It was awesome.

Wow i play it a whole lot different then you. That's very interesting.

where do you play it?
rahlgren 5 years ago
Nice sound, but very Easy Peasy, tuned in E with a few slides up and down the fretboard. This guy would definitely be more suited to a banjo.

Never heard this song before :) but it sounds great!
Your son will be an awesome cameraman someday.
But where's the singing? :(
Daphodil17 6 years ago
There's no lyrics to the song; it's an instrumental.

Would be nice if it did :)

Little Martha by The Allman brothers band. Performed by Duane Allman. The music to this is on his headstone.
