From Fox Animation Studio's 1997 first animated feature film, Anastasia. It is track #3, 'Once Upon a December' by Liz Callaway.

  • In American Smooth Style Viennesse Waltz open choreography is not only permitted but very common. In Standard International Style Viennese Waltz, you're correct, you must maintain a closed hold at all times. Also, tail coats are for International style, not American. Broaden your view, emROARS, and velcome to the "open" American style.

  • LOL that's not a Viennese Waltz. You have to stay in closed hold at all times. The only time you're not in closed hold is during the 16 bar opening.

Also he needs a better tailcoat. It looks too small on him.

  • @tteyegr Ok understandable. However in my defense I did not know it was an American Smooth because it's not mentioned. I have a hard time defining what it is most of the time because no one on the european international scene dances to it. And he is wearing a tailcoat, you can see them at the back.

I agree! Fancy footwork does not make a good dancer. Cleanly executed steps, nice flow and good posture do. I don't really see any of those here. This is an American invention, and not a real Viennese Waltz. I have been dancing for many years, so I know what I am talking about. As far as the tailcoat is concerned, it must be worn with a white bow tie and a matching waistcoat, unless he's the butler.

  • @Kate0603 Thank you alot for the reply. A t least someone know's what i'm on about. To be fair, I'm female so i'm not too concerned about the tailcoat since it was usually done with my partners mother before I finished. All I know is that it doesn't look tailored to him at all.

  • @emROARS I agree about the coat. This one makes him look like a capuchin monkey.

  • I danced with my cousin, to this song in this type of waltz at my cousins wedding as a surprise since she loved this song so much, it was priceless to see the look on her face but... she was happy and thats all i wanted to get out of her :)

  • OMG!!! it's just perfect!! :D

  • this is wonderful! I love how creative the choreography is with the song. How they glide all over the dance floor like Rogers and Astaire. It's refreshing to see someone waltz so well to this song. Bravo!
