Advice for next time...

If a cat bites a small animal like a bird or a rat you NEED to take it immediately to your local wildlife shelter or, in case it is your pet, the vet. Cats contain a bacteria in their saliva that will kill a small animal within a few days if they are not immediately treated with certain antibioitics, and I know this because I volunteer at my local wildlife shelter.

That is so funny that's exactly how I act when my cat brings in goodies. Was this cat very young? Because mine all go through a catching things and leave them half-dead in the bathroom stage when they are young but they grow out of it. ok rats are friendly and wont bite its scared to death because it got its tail pulled which is there most sensitive part if it happens again jut lure it out with a spoon full of yogurt and quikly grab behind his front legs and it will freak put a little dont worry about it just ignore the scratching cuz it dosent hurt at all and just move him out side

Easy to fix. Have Brian (Bryan?) get a humane trap and set it, using cheese or a piece of bread w/peanut butter on it. You take the cat away from the area. Then, he can lift the AC unit up slightly and the rat can run inside the trap, and he can release it outside. Then the hard part...convince the people you're living with to keep that cat indoors; it might be harming other people's pets!
