Hess was a goddamned moron. He almost got beaten up by the other fighters in the locker-room after his fight in UFC 5 because he kept gouging his smaller opponent's eyes.
When he accepted this fight with Vitor, he thought he was going to be fighting a Gracie. Just for him, the promoters of the fight waived the traditional rules of Vale Tudo (No eye-gouging or biting). That means this was totally no-holds-barred. It didn't help him at all.
@elijah5674 hahahahah wtf that dudes stupid he got murdered by vitor belfort he was like a 100 pounds heavier plus that was vitors first mma fight even if he took steroids wich he doesnt thats not an excuse to get kod in 12 seconds that guys fuckin stupid.lol
Hah, epic win. I remember this big fat guy Hess when he pulverized some unknown in UFC 5. I laughed my ass off at his "style". It was just some incredibly random striking, like a street fight, only even less organized. He even tried to gouge the eyes. He ended up winning easily, and then he fights Belfort here. Kind of like kicking a fat nerd's ass then fighting Tyson in his prime. Hess's first true MMA test.
That was brutal. No wonder Hess never fought again.
@iAMcooooooool Whether he was juicing or not (I prefer to think he didn't, love The Phenom), Vitor still had insane hand speed. Still does, just needs to fight at least 3 times a year so he can get the most out of his abilities before he goes past his peak - some say it was back in 1997, I'm more inclined to believe he's only just reached it.
hess did get owned here but he was fast at ufc 5 vs andy anderson .eye gouging aside his punches kicks and elbows were quick

Hess is an eye-gouging piece of shit. It was great watching Vitor pretty much kill him.

Put Hess in a cage with Tank Abbott or Kimbo Slice. See what happens.

Hess came out with the excuse that he took the fight on short notice and that Vitor was on steroids.
I thought SAFTA was supposed to prepare one for any scenario, at any time?
