  • nice playing Chuck and singing, true life song, thats what i love about your songs cheers Dave

  • @TheMakemFolksinger hi Dave. thanks for listening. your own songs are also rooted in actual events. i've enjoyed your own originals. be well, chuck.

  • Thought you people drank coffee more than tea. Must be an assumption. Maybe you drink it in big cups rather than using those little china ones with saucers that the British drink a cup from. You were in fine voice this day Chuck. The guitar sound too is nice and clear. Whatever you did sonically I hope you do it again soon. Write it down perhaps. I'm always forgetting settings myself.

  • @CurtisMateer hi Pete. Chaneys is local gas station that sells some food itmes and LOTS OF BEER to go. the coffee is purchased staight or decaff from a Bunn coffee maker into medium to large styrafoam cups with lids to go. sonically, i've for the most part stopped using mics. this is room sound in my geodesic dome living room, 20 feet high ceiling and concrete floor with a few throw rugs. hard surfaces of wood siding walls. S. yairir guitar, flaminco, nylon, no mic. peace and love, chcuk

  • Love your guitar playing and images your lyrics evoke.

  • @RobJamesPaynter hi Rob. thanks for taking the time to listen. i appreciate it, chuck.

  • Really digging this one, Chuck. Man, your playing is just the best.

As one who's worked in retail (and actually loved it even though it was low paying), I love your lyrics. They really capture the life of a retail clerk. I have so many fond memories of my youth, working in a drug store and a department store. The hub of life was in these stores. This one's going on my favorites list. :) Janet

  • @onewomanandsomesongs hi Janet. i like your use of the word "hub". that's an accureate representation of what i was trying to express. thanks for stopping by. it's always a pleasure to have you in mind. be well, chuck.

  • A really heartwarming story-song, Chuck. You have a real knack for it! I like the girls with two names "Carly-Cara" and "Sandy Judy" and the line, "and Don was too" - all the details! Great song!

  • @cadwalladee hi scott. this kind of song is easy to write. you just express the facts as we see them. thanks for taking the time to listen. look forward to your own next fine original posting. peace and love, chuck.

  • Nobody tells a story like you my friend. Your introductions are flat out amazing.....my eyes can barely keep up with your fingers....i love finding those places in towns around the northwest.....they bring me back to a more peaceful easy time. Thank you Chuck for another well written and superbly performed song. Be well.

  • @PatrickGMoran hi Patrick. thanks again for a real nice "visit". always a pleasure to hear from you. "see" you soon, chuck.

  • loved the telling and the song + performance,, Chuck..i've also marked you for updates, finally so i can come visit more often:-) this was a lovely song---you are SO lucky to have such a memorable establishment locally, a Teapot! I did look it up, of course!......PBS did a special about such curious places..truly of the past.....building codes of today would poo=poo , not allow. .......land of the free not so true anymore.....

    Cheers ! and thanks!

    XOs, Laurie

  • @cinderellalifestyle hello dear Laurie. i do thank you for such a nice visit and comment. every time i listen to your new postings i keep rememberig your very first ones way back when. it sure hasn't taken long for your pure talent to emerge. i ALWAYS look forward to your own next original and i'm never dissapointed. think spring friend, peace and love, chuck.

  • Hi Chuck, in Germany we had shops in the past, that were called "Tante-Emma-Laden". That means "Aunt Emma shop" hehe. Only one old lady in the shop who would have a nice talk with you, while she filled your bag with the things you wanted to buy. Great to sing a song about such little, but great things.

    Nice greetings from Anette

  • @TanteA hi Anette. so nice to hear from you. i got a kick out of your explainations of "Aunt Emma shops". back in the fifties here in the states, each little town might have six or more small neighborhood grocers just like that, one person doing everything. and most people ran a monthly bill. all it took though is one major chain opening, A and P or even wallmart, buying in train load pricing. we pay less money for groceries. but we receive much less color and friendship in the now.

  • @CharmedQuarkZ99 thanks much Richard. catch you on your next one, chuck.

  • A great story in the song and wonderful guitar. Well done Chuck!

  • @ljped hi Jack. thanks for taking the time to listen and comment. hope you and yours are doing great over there. peace and love, chuck.

  • This is a lovely celebration of something very special. Places like this are to be treasured and your song succeeds in doing just that. They seem to be growing increasingly rare over here, as more and more of our shops are taken over by the big boys, becoming homogeneous and characterless in the process. I like your affectionate references to the security cameras, too, though they sound odd to an English ear; we think of them as sinister!

Every good wish to you, my friend,

    Paddy

  • @oldfolkiepad hello Paddy. thanks for such a thoughtful comment. it never occured to me that you all would feel that way about the cameras, but now i seem to remember that you have A LOT MORE of that than we do. i do think this store will be here long after we are gone. give our regards to Oacar. thinking spring here, chuck.

  • Some great pickage going on here Chuck haha... "pickage".... I 've been hanging my teenage niece a lot lately :o) Another great song, enjoyed it a lot. -Ron

  • @rhopen hi Ron. thanks for the nice visit. it sure is nice to be able to share quality time with your family like that. it's really what it's all about........as opposed to being all about the hokey pokey. be well friend, chuck.

  • Great song my friend! With Peace!!

  • @TheJacklex37 hi there Alexendre, thanks for the nice visit. be well, chuck.

  • @nidgetucker thanks Nidge, very nice to hear from you. enjoy the weekend friend, chuck.

  • Oh I love this Chuck. You're right, I think every town, no matter how small. has it's hub where everyone meets. Kind of the social catalyst that keeps everyone together..literally and figuratively sometimes. Great slice of life in this song! I'd love to see the big teapot someday :-)

  • @nessyvt thanks Vanessa, so nice to hear from you. i just now attached a link at the top of the page for anyone who might like to see the tea pot. peace and love, chuck.
