I hate my life and the person I am supposed to be everyday. But everytime I listen to Scott, all the filth in my life could not be any more beautiful.
Thank you so much Scott for being the only comforting voice in my head
I was taking a walk, listening to Scott 3 tonight... this song is SO GRAPHICALLY DEPRESSING. And so beautiful to listen to. I aspire to make music like this.
I have never been able to work out why this song has such a profound effect on me, the emotions and visuals this song evokes are indescribable. Whenever i hear this my whole mood changes, my body becomes tense and i am sent scrambling for the floor or anything that will support me. The tragedy in this song is unbearable but the sheer beauty of the words and the music always pull me back in, This is not pop music, here Scott is working on an entirely different level.
Thank you so much for posting this. I just had a chat with my 80 year old dad thousands of miles away, and he mentioned how he loved Scott Walker's voice. He gave me some lyrics, but didn't know the song they came from. I was able to find this posting and direct him to it on Youtube.
One of the true musical geniuses in the pop field. Absolutely uncompromised artistry. Pretty much everyone and everything else in the genre sounds like it was done by children in comparison.
For a guy who had everything going for him in the 60's. Looks, voice, charisma and talent. I think inside he was haunted. He was in the limelight and yet, part of him was always trying to get away from it. Wonderful voice with a lot of emotion.
@raceching It's such a part of his appeal. Have you watched 30th Century Man yet? In it he mentions his constant nightmares. One can only wonder what's going on in that dark mind of his!
Lulu said on tv she was in terribly in love with Scott, aw! but he treated her as if she was a kid sister, - broke her heart! yes the Walker Bros were great!
um, i think howlycoyote is jm's sister or something. why do you need to say nasty things about scott walker? he's sacrificed a lot in order to do the things he cares about and everybody who knows about him loves him. aren't there enough people who do whatever the pop music industry wants them to do? does it really make sense to bash somebody for not doing that? i love this song and i'm a loyal sw fan. not sure what howlycoyote's problem is.

Scott Walker 3 is still my favourite of the first four solo albums he put out. And songs like this and "It's Raining Today" are why. Astounding.

Still unsurpassed lyrically.
'She's a haunted house and her windows are broken'
This line alone creates such powerful imagery it's almost unconceivable.

Howlycoyote sounds like a groupie who only got fucked by two of the Walker Brothers. I wonder which one gave her the kb?
