  • @espgold Hey are you running out of your stereo output with a split cable? one for mags and one for piezo? did you install the control x?

  • sounds great btw. inspired me to try to do it to my paul

  • This video is pretty close to perfect for me! The Club King 290 is one of the guitars I am looking at... with the exact mod you did... the Baggs T-bridge. I have used the Bose L1 MII for a couple of years now, so one of my main concerns with YouTube videos is...how will it sound through the Bose? Well my friend, you answered that question too :)

I'm still not sure about what guitar I will get, though... the DiPinto Belvedere is pretty snazzy too! Or some sort of Thinline Tele model.

  • @roxville I'm glad the video was helpful. This guitar does it all for me. I'm assuming since you have the model II that you have a T1 mixer as well. That piece is the key for me...so much sound shaping ability I don't need a separate preamp for the acoustic sound. I now use a sansamp Tri-AC for electric sounds, again into the T1. Perfect.

The DiPinto is very cool..I'd like to try one out. I guess it depends partly on whether you prefer 24 3/4" scale or the Reverend's 25 1/2".

  • @espgold LOL I use a Tri-AC as well... it sounds great through the T1. I have used a Yamaha AEX500 for about 14 years now, and have constantly looked for alternative better guitars... in a reasonable price range. Last year I bought the Godin A6 Ultra. Big mistake, didn't do it for me at all, even though it's a very nice guitar. My Yammie needs constant tweaking... the neck is a bit cheap, so it requires frequent truss rod adjustments.

Thanks again for posting that vid, it made a HUGE difference

  • I Like the sound for sure. Nice mod IMO

  • wow that sounds better than an acoustic simulator!

  • i love the sound from the that bridge planning on getting one

  • Hi there , i want to know , if i conect a stereo cable in to an amp, y can choose piezo or humbuckers? how you do it? with switch ? thanks a lot

  • i see you are using the bbe to deal with tone issues. just to satisfy my curiosity, how does the acoustic signal sound direct into the board? would a para di work for shaping the tone and dealing with volume issues? also, i don't know if you have any experience with this, but i'm planning on installing one of these on a bigsby equipped guitar. do you have any idea how the saddles would hold up with a bigsby? i'm considering the graphtech, since the saddles play nicer with vibrato arms.

  • s0i5auce, you're question makes sense. With the preamp installed you can run both signals to one amp but you won't get this good of an acoustic sound through a guitar amp. That's why I skip the onboard pre and split the signals. My Baggs signal goes into a channel on my mixer where it gets processed separately. My mixer is right beside me so I control volume from there. I may one day put a vol pot on the guitar.

  • Oh yeah... without the preamp you cannot combine the signals to one output. Way different impedances. But remember, with the preamp your magnetic pickup signal goes thru the preamp, too. A consequence I didn't care for. Much better, imo, to treat the two signals separately, as you would an acoustic and an electric guitar.

  • @espgold Ahh I see. That makes a lot of sense. Yeah, I think if I get this, I'm going to go your route and just not get the pre.

Well hey, thanks a lot for the video and info. I was a bit skeptical of the sound quality but it really does sound good. Exceeds my expectations immensely.

  • @espgold Oh, nice guitar too btw. I was thinking of purchasing a Reverend not too long ago. Are you happy with the guitar?

  • This Reverend is my #1 by a wide margin. I have two other Reverends and they're all great. My Club King, although slightly modified, is as close to the perfect guitar for me that I could imagine. Semi-hollow off set body, Fender scale bolt-on neck, inline tuners and a killer spruce top. Not much it can't do.

  • That's awesome. I've played a couple of my friend's Reverends and they really seem to be quality guitars.

One last question for you. If you plug in a mono cable into your stereo jack, will the mag pickups or the piezo pickups be going through?

  • A mono plug in mine will give the mag pickups, so I can just plug in to any electric amp and go. It could easily be wired the other way but this way makes the most sense to me.

  • Wow, that's fantastic! I can't believe how good that sounds! Such a practical solution for gigging. I wouldn't have to lug my acoustic around if I installed this on my guitar.

Without the preamp, do you have to send the the two channels to separate output sources in order to hear both of them? Or can you just use a single mono patch cable to one source (such as an amp) to get both sounds in one source?

I wonder if that made any sense. Thanks in advance!

  • Also, it looks like you didn't hook up the extra volume pot for the acoustic pick up. Any reason?

  • Thanks for showing, I bought a Gibson LP with Baggs and didn't really know how to mix it.

  • nice, do you actually need a preamp? Or can I just install this to my guitar and run it straight to my amp? I'm going to be building a rg/strat style guitar and would like to use the lr baggs vintage tremolo. I think it would work great.

  • With a preamp, you can send it to the same amplifier you would send the electric signal to. So you can play the piezo and the electric pickups with just one amp. I am building a guitar, and I am using the preamp.

  • Have you ever tried preamps such as the Ctrl X by L R Baggs? I'm just wondering if I should grab one for when I get further into my project and would like some info about it. Do you think it improves the sound a great deal from what it normally sounds like (with just the bridge by itself)? Also, how long does the battery last for the piezo? I know it depends how much you use it, but how often do you use your piezo bridge and how long does the battery last like that?

  • I have used the Ctrl X before and it works great. What I didn't like is that it runs the magnetic pickups thru it's preamp and I had to remember to unplug the guitar after each time playing or the battery would run down. On this guitar there is no onboard preamp. I either run into a mic channel on my mixer, or, use an external pre into a line in on the mixer. Right now I'm liking my BBE Sonic Stomp into line in on mixer. This corrects impedance and offers some EQ shaping. And only $99 : )

  • Wow, this sounds amazing.

Got me GASing for a Club King, for sure.
