Yeah, the bells are annoying, but to do what they're supposed to do, they have to be. Before the CSX merger, this line was used by the L&N which shared trackage rights with the C&EI, and later Mo-Pac. From Woodland Junction to Chicago, double-track maintained to class five standards, freight trains usually ran at 60-70 mph. Can you imagine a rural crossing like this without any bells and a ten-thousand ton coal train coming at you at 70 mph?
At the other end of the spectrum is on the UP in Carroll, Iowa. Just search for "Carroll Iowa" and the video will come up at the top of the search results. Title is "Union Pacific in Carroll Iowa".
At West Chicago, the Wood street crossing has a WCH E-bell too. Every time I went there, the soudn changed. One day it sounded just like this, only it didn't produce two sounds, then the next time I was there, they turned it off. Now it is replaced.
Wow. Not only is it rare to hear fast-ringing e-bells, but actually having WCH e-bells on a CSX mainline! Normally they use Safetran and GS e-bells!

Those bells ring maybe a little fast, but for some reason, I like them like that.
