I really, really love the female voice around 5:30, i don't remmember the singers name right now, but it was rather unknown. I'll listen to her other works, truly remarkable, the most beautiful voice i can recall in this moment.
@XQuantumFailureX If you mean the "you belong to me" -part at 5.24, that's Marcela Bovio. I believe she has made a career with the band Streams of Passions since this, but I'm not much familiar with it.
If you mean the part at 5.38 "You're never alone, I knew we could make it" on the other hand, that's Heather Findlay and I can confirm that her work with Mostly Autumn is very much worth checking out. I believe the chorus in this is sung as a duet by both singers mentioned.
@fvrts What about about apotheosic?, empirycaly elevating or something similar could also work, but music is more personal than that, is what you feel.
@bob1126 Devin was kind of a little bitch throughout the process. He didn't want to sing/play Arjen's melodies/lyrics. Arjen let Devin write his own melodies and lyrics for his parts.
@krisdaschwab912 Being a bitch had absolutely nothing to do with it. Devin has always had a powerful sense of artistic integrity and has made it apparent that he would never perform another artists materials. If you cared to investigate, you'd know that Arjen asked Devin to be on the album and Devin offered to write his own material; an idea Arjen enjoyed. No bitches involved friend; thinky before speaky please.
I would've been totally OK with the song ending at 4:58, with the end coming from Hansi Kursch's last "I'M ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE" in I'm Alive off of IFTOS. But Arjen does it just fine. XD
Akerfeldt's growl... :O and the drop from 'it all seems so uneral to you' to can you decide what to do?'... :O This shit is mindfuckingly superlative. (as devin would say)
Ah, but; listen to the build up in 19; that nice Beatlêsque track with typical Arjen guitar works and voice... then at the climax with the excellent Heather Findlay lines; fade out; and kick right back in with this insanely great ultra-climax... which doesn't need more words than all of you already done... musica extravaganza!
Whenever I listen to this album, the really heavy metal parts are amazing, but the drums are always underplayed... until the last few minutes of the last track, which is the most awesome head-bangingest finale in Rock-Opera history.
The last 2 minutes of this song are absolutely breathtaking. That growl Akerfeldt lets out is immense, it intensifies that moment by so much. I can't believe I haven't heard of this before.
ok everything's fine about ayreon proyect... until i reach this part: "[me]: i'm alive, i won't look back, aaaaah!.... The huma equation program aborted. have a nice day. dream sequencer system offline. Emotions. I remember..."
does it mean everything in the human equation was only a simulation made by the Forever of the Stars using the Dream Sequencer in order to remember their emotions?
@CavemanJesus4Life i think it's cool, i mean the whole ayreon is awesome and that part conects this album with the story, so i think it's very cool, it's something that leaves you like "O.o what the hell?... AWESOME!!! :D" lol
Wow, this group did a WONDERFUL job at telling a story though music. I have never seen that kind of thing done so well. Usually you'd see that kind of thing in a movie. But this is better than a movie, because you provide the pictures in your mind's eye. BEST SERIES OF SONGS EVER!!!! BEST ALBUM EVER!!!!! BEST SONGS EVER!!!! BEST STORY EVER!!!!! Very nice finish. Loved every second of it.
Although I do believe that the story does exist, it's probably a memory of the person in the Dream Sequencer. It was like that on the other album too...
It's a surprise final, but I hate it xD I was so happy that he woke up, and then it turned out to be the Dream Sequencer from the previous album. Mean xD
It's the voice ot the Forever (aliens from planet Y). The main character it's not in coma, the whole story doesn't exist, but it's a dream machine. It's a surprise final

Fear is interpreted by Mikael Åkerfeldt from opeth, the scream heard at min 5:48i think it's because the person interpreting 'Me' is dying, he feels no more pain, forgets about just everything, anyway i think the fear is the most prominent emotion at that point.

Not that... we all know he's in a coma (it's pretty obvious from the start) I'm actually talking about the VERY end, as in, the las 30 or so seconds... it seems like the whole thing was ran on some kind of computer program.
You have to listen to the other albums to get that. It's an awesome ending then. But without knowledge of the other albums ..it is weird I suppose ;-)
I have... but I still don't properly get it. I've listened to this, 01011001 and Universal Migrater, I also read up on The Final Experiment because I didn't really like the music in that one.
The only thing I can think of is that the Dream Sequencer is a program ran by the Forevers so they can remember emotions.
I'm pretty sure thats what this is, still its pretty neat they would dig into the other albums like that. Cause it caught me by surprise too when I heard it.
Comon, the dream sequencer comes back in a couple of songs of the universal migrator, the second disc the person entering the sequencer goes back to when live originated. So of course this is a program ran by some Forever on the planet of Y? :-P

Mikael's growl at the end of the song is FANTASTIC. His screams are almost as good as his clean singing. Love him so much... The best singer. Maybe on the whole world.
I don't notice any real "cheesiness" throughout this work, and the ending of course knocked me out beyond my expectations even after I read everyone else's reactions.
It's purposely long because it's a recovery from a coma, and it's achingly long if you've ever experienced it happening to someone you know.
My brain's so tiny, i couldn't understood, he cames back to life, or in the middle of the re-borning he is shutted down? best song ever

This might sound like a really stupid question... Whats the Forever story? Whose the Forever?

The only connection between this and the other Ayreon albums is:
The Human Equation program aborted.
Have a nice day.
Dream Sequencer system offline.
Emotions
I remember... Arjen's site:P

Mikael's growl at the end of the song is FANTASTIC. His screams are almost as good as his clean singing. Love him so much... The best singer. Maybe on the whole world.

Absolutely fantastic. I'm on Ayreon for life.
I don't notice any real "cheesiness" throughout this work, and the ending of course knocked me out beyond my expectations even after I read everyone else's reactions.
It's purposely long because it's a recovery from a coma, and it's achingly long if you've ever experienced it happening to someone you know.

Mikael Akerfeldt does a growl at the end of the song, and it pans from side to side. Fucking kore.

The part where all the emotions and people come in and start yelling at each other has got to be the most EPIC climax of ANY song EVER!

6:29-6:35 I've never heard James scream like that in a Dream Theater's song!! Very good for him!
