  • My brain's so tiny, i couldn't understood, he cames back to life, or in the middle of the re-borning he is shutted down? best song ever

  • @putifarrix He came back to life and turned his life around (not being the old selfish and greedy businessman self)

  • Chills at the ending. Every. Single. Time.

  • Damn, that ending is powerful.

  • what an amazing album... just leaves you speechless, literally <3

it would be so awesome if they would´ve made some videos for this whole album... i wonder how that would´ve looked like^^

  • @kayxdragon or if they made a real life opera out of it

  • Not the first time I've listen to this the whole way through, and it will not be the last. Not even death will stop me!

  • However, I'm going to assume that you meant both as they're both great in this, lol.

  • 6:33 Fucking hell o.O

  • Fear and Passion are epic at the end....

  • Cancion epica! album inigualable!!

  • I really, really love the female voice around 5:30, i don't remmember the singers name right now, but it was rather unknown. I'll listen to her other works, truly remarkable, the most beautiful voice i can recall in this moment.

  • @XQuantumFailureX If you mean the "you belong to me" -part at 5.24, that's Marcela Bovio. I believe she has made a career with the band Streams of Passions since this, but I'm not much familiar with it.

If you mean the part at 5.38 "You're never alone, I knew we could make it" on the other hand, that's Heather Findlay and I can confirm that her work with Mostly Autumn is very much worth checking out. I believe the chorus in this is sung as a duet by both singers mentioned.

  • LaBrie:

    I'm aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiive!

    I WON'T look baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!! (In F#5)

  • el coitus interruptus mas epico del metal...ever...

  • Oh my... oh my.... I can't come up with the words to describe this... "Magnificent" simply isn't strong enough of a word.

  • @fvrts What about about apotheosic?, empirycaly elevating or something similar could also work, but music is more personal than that, is what you feel.

  • Gah. Shivers all down my spine. No words.

  • i question we're all asking.. where the fuck was dev at the end? COME ONN

  • @bob1126 Devin was kind of a little bitch throughout the process. He didn't want to sing/play Arjen's melodies/lyrics. Arjen let Devin write his own melodies and lyrics for his parts.

  • @krisdaschwab912 Being a bitch had absolutely nothing to do with it. Devin has always had a powerful sense of artistic integrity and has made it apparent that he would never perform another artists materials. If you cared to investigate, you'd know that Arjen asked Devin to be on the album and Devin offered to write his own material; an idea Arjen enjoyed. No bitches involved friend; thinky before speaky please.

  • I would've been totally OK with the song ending at 4:58, with the end coming from Hansi Kursch's last "I'M ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE" in I'm Alive off of IFTOS. But Arjen does it just fine. XD

  • LaBrie GOES FOR IT at the end o.O

  • Have just finished the whole story. Now the word 'Epic' is thrown around alot these days... and seems to small to describe...

  • I kinda got here by acident, googling around music vids, and just find this, stumbling in to a MASTERPIECE!

  • Such a powerful album...seriously...wow...

Does any one else wish this album was made into a movie?

  • @AllenQuackenstein most definately. At the very least I'd like to see this made into some kind of production or something.

  • holy shit! almost cried on [Wife and Love] part in 5:05 : O beautyfuckingfull

  • Akerfeldt's growl... :O and the drop from 'it all seems so uneral to you' to can you decide what to do?'... :O This shit is mindfuckingly superlative. (as devin would say)

  • Ah, but; listen to the build up in 19; that nice Beatlêsque track with typical Arjen guitar works and voice... then at the climax with the excellent Heather Findlay lines; fade out; and kick right back in with this insanely great ultra-climax... which doesn't need more words than all of you already done... musica extravaganza!

  • Best Ayreon song ever!! cant stop listening to it

  • Whenever I listen to this album, the really heavy metal parts are amazing, but the drums are always underplayed... until the last few minutes of the last track, which is the most awesome head-bangingest finale in Rock-Opera history.

  • 2 people are still stuck in the dream sequencer...

  • EMOTIONS... I REMEMBER!

I think the whole album is awesome, from the story to the music! (sorry for my english, I'm Italian)

  • maldito final pedorro

  • God... that ending is the most powerful thing I've ever heard in my entire life.

  • The last 2 minutes of this song are absolutely breathtaking. That growl Akerfeldt lets out is immense, it intensifies that moment by so much. I can't believe I haven't heard of this before.

    I WON'T LOOK BAAAAYAAACK!! WAAAAHH--!!

  • @superhomsar2112 symbolizes that his fear was finally defeated...

  • Can you feel the fire!! Can you feel it buuuuurn!!

  • I got goosebumps at the final when they were all singing!!!!! It's so beautifull, all of their voices are so amazing!!! I <3 Ayreon

  • @richtier yeah, pretty much.

  • Mikael and Irena rule. Their parts at the ends ARE FRIKIN' AWESOME!!

  • ok everything's fine about ayreon proyect... until i reach this part: "[me]: i'm alive, i won't look back, aaaaah!.... The huma equation program aborted. have a nice day. dream sequencer system offline. Emotions. I remember..."

does it mean everything in the human equation was only a simulation made by the Forever of the Stars using the Dream Sequencer in order to remember their emotions?

  • @richtier Basically, but not originally. Arjen made it to be different from the Ayreon stories, but had to add in the last part just cause he's Arjen

  • @CavemanJesus4Life i think it's cool, i mean the whole ayreon is awesome and that part conects this album with the story, so i think it's very cool, it's something that leaves you like "O.o what the hell?... AWESOME!!! :D" lol

  • FUCK MAN! James LaBrie RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULE.... The BEST \m/

  • the two "welcome to reality" bits are probably my favorite melodies on this track

  • "[Fear] Aaaaaaaaarrrrgh!" PRICELESS! :D

  • Comment removed

  • the last seconds were so anticlimatic

  • 5:20-5:45 is one of the best eargasm's someone can experience.

  • Irene's high G is breathtaking

  • One of the best songs ever... Åkerfeldt's growl just makes my heart pump fastly than the wind :Q_

  • The Human Equation saved my life.

  • I guess if one wants to find Labrie fans, one crazy enough must skip DT and move to Ayreon.

  • this is my first listen and although i'm not into stuff with so many effects, this was freakin' awesome!!! Especially the part from 4:58!!!

  • and then you get to the end, and scream aloud "what the fuck just happened?"

  • Comment removed

  • EVERYTIME IT MAKES ME GO "WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!"

  • Lucassen I HATE YOUUUUUUUUUUUu

  • This spoken ending is epic and fitting the climax perfeclty, but what the hell? Why did they have to break such an amazing note by LaBrie?

  • @Miunni Fuking agree with that !

  • @Miunni I suppose the microphone caught fire and they werent able to continue

  • Emotions... I remember....

    ¬¬

  • @PabloThrashmetal I still get tingles. AGHH FOREVER

  • @PabloThrashmetal The outcome of the final experiment is now in your hands. Tic.. Tic.. Tic.. Tic.. Tic..

  • Wow, this group did a WONDERFUL job at telling a story though music. I have never seen that kind of thing done so well. Usually you'd see that kind of thing in a movie. But this is better than a movie, because you provide the pictures in your mind's eye. BEST SERIES OF SONGS EVER!!!! BEST ALBUM EVER!!!!! BEST SONGS EVER!!!! BEST STORY EVER!!!!! Very nice finish. Loved every second of it.

  • I get goosebumbs every time I listen to the end of this song. So fuckin epic =)

James Labrie(Me) and Magnus Ekwall(Pride) have some elite voices, and those last few lines get me so pumped! lol

    "I'm alive! I won't look back! Ahhhhh!" <-- Hell yes. <3 Labrie.

  • Dont know why, but that ending makes me think about the frailty of life. So sad in some way...

  • Through out the whole day, I listened to every single song in this album.

And, dang, now I feel like I finished reading a really good book.

  • 2:43 When Passion starts singing always gives me goosebumps...what a voice she has...

  • genial, como siempre

  • Mikael Akerfeldt must be the perfect singer for this album, next to devon and james. Wow bow down, this is excellence.

  • Lol at lyrics

    [Fear] Aaaaaaaaarrrrgh!

  • I love how Arjen turned this "random" story into classic Ayreon at the very end of the last song, haha! Pure brilliance.

  • The question is, alike the Matrix, what is real and what is not :-) maybe all we call 'real life' is an illusion or Maya as some call it...

  • Although I do believe that the story does exist, it's probably a memory of the person in the Dream Sequencer. It was like that on the other album too...

  • It's a surprise final, but I hate it xD I was so happy that he woke up, and then it turned out to be the Dream Sequencer from the previous album. Mean xD

  • LaBrie's line at the end has to be one of the greatest moments in progressive metal.

  • Oh, and gotta be the best singers in Prog scene, or I'm I wrong?

  • Man, this gotta be the best conceptual album ever, and the best work with the best talented musicians, EVER!!!

lol at the Dream Machine final.

  • im not sure i understand what happened at the very end..

  • @0zzyQsbourne

It's the voice ot the Forever (aliens from planet Y). The main character it's not in coma, the whole story doesn't exist, but it's a dream machine. It's a surprise final

  • fucking amazing

  • This album is really beautiful.

I specially like the relation between Reason and Pain. When I'm listenign to the album I always Imagine them looking the exactly as Me, but very well dressed and in white and black respect the emotion, but Pain has some scars on the face.

  • Agony I'm sorry

  • 5:47 When Fear growls sends chills up my spine as the music becomes more metal with everyone giving it their all.

I love Devon & Magnus' part at the end along with James LaBrie's part.

  • i love you iikka,sweet eskimo/inuit

  • I'm blown away, this album is so beautifully set up that nothing can describe it.

If it were possible: inf./5 stars

  • Who is the one that plays forever in the stars at the end?

  • This CD is fourth coming into the house. LOL

  • ----->>> There is a Native's Festival going on at DreamScape January 24-25!!! It's a great time to try it for FREE!!! Vzones /dot/ com

  • I just can`t belive it, how I'm listening until now??? It's a master piece... A recreation of all the feelings, the betray and love... All expirience was an off words feeling

  • For the love of God there just aren't words for this album.

  • @HayabusaNoTsuchi You are not the only one... Didn't do nothing with my fists, but if felt wonderful- surely the moment we've been waiting for.

  • @MichalADG You responded to the wrong comment. ;)

  • Am I the only one who routinely pumps their fists in joy the first time he goes "Look at me, I'm alive" at 4:58? If so, in my defense it is basically the moment that the entire album was building towards, so BAH to you, good sirs!

  • @boredmuskoxen No, you're not. It's so awesome!

  • @boredmuskoxen it's awesome to know that other people are as much into this album as i am :D

  • @boredmuskoxen no man,u're not the only one!!!!great!!! ;-)

  • Comment removed

  • @boredmuskoxen It really is the climax of the story. And yet it's so soft...sends shivers down me every time I hear it.

  • @boredmuskoxen nope, your not!

  • @boredmuskoxen nope, your not! And shivers down my back!

  • anyone knows the intro part for guitar?

  • Fear is interpreted by Mikael Åkerfeldt from opeth, the scream heard at min 5:48i think it's because the person interpreting 'Me' is dying, he feels no more pain, forgets about just everything, anyway i think the fear is the most prominent emotion at that point.

  • @bjorn860 Personally i think that's the moment when fear is dying and "Me" by James is not afraid anymore, that's why he is coming back to life.

  • 0:30 Just like James LaBrie from Dream Theater! :P

  • it is james labrie.

  • Wow! Really? Nice! 8))

  • The last few minutes of this song are some of the best on the album

This will always remind me of fall/winter 2008

  • I listened to this when I discovered Ayreon, and I didn't like it then...I can't understand, now I'm officially addicted to this, it's the fourth or fifth time I listen it today...Arjen is awesome...No, LaBrie is awesome...No, they're all awesome...An epic ending to an epic album...The drum part at the ending rocks...Everything rocks about this song:)

  • this would make a really good play.

  • Comment removed

  • Thats what i meant.

  • Oh ok, my mistake

  • I MUST HAVE THIS ALBUM!!!!!!!

  • great album and great final !!!!

  • This music sends chills down my spine.

  • Totally! If I'm not sober when I listen to it, I'm afraid I'll start crying! It is the most genious album\project ever created!

  • The ending always gives me chills.

    Epic.

  • I don't like the ending. It's just;

"OHSNAP it was all a dream!"

  • Infact it was: I am awake, I was in coma and now my new life begins

  • Not that... we all know he's in a coma (it's pretty obvious from the start) I'm actually talking about the VERY end, as in, the las 30 or so seconds... it seems like the whole thing was ran on some kind of computer program.

  • You have to listen to the other albums to get that. It's an awesome ending then. But without knowledge of the other albums ..it is weird I suppose ;-)

  • I have... but I still don't properly get it. I've listened to this, 01011001 and Universal Migrater, I also read up on The Final Experiment because I didn't really like the music in that one.

The only thing I can think of is that the Dream Sequencer is a program ran by the Forevers so they can remember emotions.

  • I'm pretty sure thats what this is, still its pretty neat they would dig into the other albums like that. Cause it caught me by surprise too when I heard it.

  • Comon, the dream sequencer comes back in a couple of songs of the universal migrator, the second disc the person entering the sequencer goes back to when live originated. So of course this is a program ran by some Forever on the planet of Y? :-P

  • OMG WTF 4:42 is that LaBrie?!?!

Dream Theater is my favorite band.

I'm thinking Ayreon, who I just discovered tonight, is going to quickly find a home in my collection of "Freakin' sweet music"

...and I think I hear Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth in there... am I going crazy?

  • Yeap, LaBrie AND Akerfeldt in one band. What more do you need ;)

  • We need Daniel Gildenlow, that's what.

  • Check out Ayreon's 01 album :3

  • In one album, I meant.

  • I like Eric Clayton, the guy who sings "Reason", though I'm not sure if I'll like his band... sounds preachy.

  • @Pholon

    Moar Hansi.

  • @Pholon Oh i don't know, how about rocking pan pipes, a didgeridoo and a fiddle, and a metal opera.

  • @Pholon Petrucci as guest guitarist xD

  • @Pholon Devin Townsend...

    duh.

  • yes and yes, both vocalists are in this... among others... see Ayreons website for the full list of featured artists

  • No Mikael is in there

  • Lol, the main singer in this band is Labrie, he "plays" 'Me', look at the lyrics; everything that says 'Me' is LaBrie. Can't be much of a fan, lol, if you didn't notice!

Yeah, I think Mikael Akerfeldt is "Pride".

  • Akerdfelt is Fear, Magnus is Pride.

  • Pride = Akerfeldt

    ---> LOL

you ever listened to a single song of opeth?

  • Actually, not much, I'm not really a fan. I just heard someone was from Opeth.

I heard, maybe two of there songs, I've heard they're good but haven't really tryed listening to them properly yet.

I just knew Opeth was a popular band, so I pointed that out.

  • Are you sure, I'm pretty sure Fear is Akerfeldt. At least it sounds like him, more than pride.

  • i didn't understood how is the person/alien/something that says "Emotion... I remember"

  • You'd have to listen to the Albums "Into the Electric Castle" and "Dream Sequencer" After that, it will probably make sense.

  • This whole album is part of the Forever story, even though it's totally unrelated in concept. You won't know it until the final 25 seconds.

The Human Equation is a sort of video that the Forever watch, and now they remember what it was like to have emotions again. "Emotions....I remember...."

I listened to 01011001 a few weeks ago and it does flow right, but 01011001 will take much longer to understand than Human. I loved this first listen and, having just finished number four, still do.

  • This might sound like a really stupid question... Whats the Forever story? Whose the Forever?

  • The only connection between this and the other Ayreon albums is:

    The Human Equation program aborted.

    Have a nice day.

    Dream Sequencer system offline.

    Emotions

    I remember... Arjen's site:P

  • Listen to 01011001.

  • 5:00 -> end : EPIC

  • :O!! The end...Dream Sequencer...Electric Castle...GENIUS!!!!

  • i like it, makes me horny

  • wat

  • but it does lol!!! i can't help myself

  • Holy fuck, this song is incredible!

  • My newest addiction lol

  • Song is STRONG

  • creeping ending ._.

    awesome song!

  • Comment removed

  • Mikael's growl at the end of the song is FANTASTIC. His screams are almost as good as his clean singing. Love him so much... The best singer. Maybe on the whole world.

  • I just love the F#5 sream of james labrie at the and... he is a legend

  • Absolutely fantastic. I'm on Ayreon for life.

I don't notice any real "cheesiness" throughout this work, and the ending of course knocked me out beyond my expectations even after I read everyone else's reactions.

It's purposely long because it's a recovery from a coma, and it's achingly long if you've ever experienced it happening to someone you know.

  • oh my god...so awesome...this whole album kicked my ass!

i NEED a copy of this album man!

  • God the very end of this album gives me fucking chills. Five stars

  • Mikael Akerfeldt does a growl at the end of the song, and it pans from side to side. Fucking kore.

  • The part where all the emotions and people come in and start yelling at each other has got to be the most EPIC climax of ANY song EVER!

  • without a doubt, the best song of the album, this song moves me.

  • I love the way the ended the CD I didn't see it coming at all.

Great way to tie two of my favorite albums together.

  • michael from opeth (L)

  • Fear and Me, The singers of my 2 favourite bands (except for Russel Allen)

  • this has been the best album i have listened to in my life.

  • 6:29-6:35 I've never heard James scream like that in a Dream Theater's song!! Very good for him!
