  • any one knows what they say?

  • By a tailstrike

  • Crappy Plane, Crappy Engineers, Dumb Rescuers, Greedy Boeing...

RIP to the victims... NO ONE IS PERFECT.

  • @Francozilla Crappy plane? The 747? Wow, you must have some pretty high standards. Do you wipe your ass with gold paper, or just silver?

  • Only thing is - it wasnt a 747-400 and they couldnt steer it using the yoke, liek you are

  • @757american767 it was

  • Kyu Sakamoto [*]

  • Thanks a lot

  • Yes.. I wish the Japanese government would have let the American military help like they offered to... pride is not always a good thing

  • wow. that is very touching. Great vid.

  • what do they mean by "single" air disaster??

  • @TDKgye It means involving only one airplane. Tenerife is the worst airplane disaster, but that involves two airplanes that crashed into each other.

  • この音楽何だ!まるで楽しんで作っているような映像だろ!遺族の方々の感情を考えろ、バカ者!

  • 機体の塗装が今のJALのだ。何でやねん??

  • I'm stunned. I don't recall the crash. But the details of this are just numbing.

  • why does japan have to learn their lessons the hard way? first the atomic bombing(which were horrible cause it only killed the innocent) and now this plane crash, i hope japan doesnt go trhough another tragedy

  • @chrisguz94 plane crashes happen, whether you are Japanese, American, British, Mexican, or any other race. Sounds like you are implying that the Japanese people are ignorant, so it seems that you are the ignorant one here.

  • @fd3srules its not being ignorant to be honest, its just like saying, japanese dont deserve this, america has had some bad tragedies, but did we have ever had an incident were 500,000 people died? not really, why? cause no one has ever really bombed united states, and im not implying that japanese people are ignorant cause im actually a fan of their race, i embrace their culture and technology and people, and i was just saying, boeing made a mistake, and japan learned from it the hard way.

  • @fd3srules and what did japan get from learning it the hard way? they have today's 2011 jal, as one of the best airlines out there, and its considered one of the top airlines too. so im not really being ignorant, maybe united states need a few more tragedies to learn from cause united states people are really ignorant and i see it all around.

  • @chrisguz94 Hahaha, the truth is that ignorance was used to imply racism, which I think is fun, as I believe that it should not be taken seriously. Do you think I would take offense to your comment? Being a Japanese American, I see ignorance wherever I go, whether it is travels to different cities, or to different countries. On top of that, you are saying that we need tragedies? Like 9/11, the shooting in Tucson AZ, and the numerous college campus shootings?

    Lighten up

  • A body at the time of the accident is not a body of such a form. In addition, a mark of the tail assembly is a mark of the cranes, too.The marks of JAL are different in those days, too.Anyway, all is wrong! !For a Japanese, I think that I want you to do a little more correct accident inspection.

  • @Baddmnkey

    Do not play Japanese tragedy!

    I murder you!

  • nicely done...

  • well done.

  • good effort and the facts were well researched, but JAL 123 was a 747 classic (100/SR) - using the right aircraft would have made it even better.

  • @Baddmnkey

    Thanks.

  • One of the most disturbing things about this crash is the JSDF quite didn't rush for rescue because the officials thought that no-one could survive after a crash at that speed. If they had, it is likely that the 4 survivors had a chance to see the light of the next day.

  • scary ending...i cant imagine what passengers feel inside that plane...HELL!!!!

  • やめてくれ・・・

  • @Baddmnkey Thanks !

  • こういう、動画はこのJAL123便に乗っていた人の遺族にはとてもではないけど、見せられない。

  • deppressing :(

  • 当日は雨など降っていない!間違った情報を流すな 日本人は許さんぞ

  • @sentorea

It was not a rainy day on 12 August 1985 around the scene of accident.

    拙い英語かも知れませんが、雨は降ってなかった旨、書いておきました。私も誤解が広がるのは良くないと思いましたので。

  • What you see is what you get. Exact flight plan, same coordinates and time. Sorry.

  • @sentorea Wrong language!!

  • All your moves are right but the livery is not.

  • Theonly thing that bothered me about this reconstruction was JAL 123 actually flipped in mid air right before crashing and landed on its back.

Normally I don't watch these types of videos, but yours was superb and full of feeling. I truly enjoyed the quality and sense of urgency, as well as the music chosen--how can any one go wrong with johnny cash?

    Thumbs up and favorited

  • Thank you.

  • May God bless all them..rest in peace..

  • Good video man! Nice quality too!

  • This is truly sad. Thank you posting this video and remembering these people.

  • @mrjazz747 Thank you very much. Glad you understood the main purpose of this video.

  • Was that voice recording the actual??

  • @bronco8585

Yes, it is the actual voice cockpit recorded last conversations...

  • @TheDallas2000

You should finish the elementary school first, and then, go back here and make some smart comments.

  • Where did you get that CVR?

  • You did a nice job with this video. There was information that I didn't already know. Nice song as well. It just breaks me to know people survived that horrific flight, then the crash, then died alone and in pain in the dark and cold because no one got to them in time. That little girl in the tree, WOW. Amazing. And those pilots, they did an amazing job flying a plane with no tail wing for 30 minutes.

  • whats the game name please?

  • @MrRytuklis, FS2004 + PMDG 747-400 Pro

  • I'm not sure about the wipers, but I discovered (in FSX) that if you press "shift-E, 2" you can open and close the cargo bay doors -on planes that are so equipped. If you are at the gate/terminal, this will (usually) summon 2 baggage vehicles to service your plane.

  • How come the wipers work in Fs2004 and not in FSX?

  • aircraft.cfg not showing up when installing textures help make vid about it

  • can u make a tutorial of how to install texures on pmdg 747 because i try and it says aircraft cfg not found

  • I think youre trying to install the wrong format textures in your cfg's plane config. All liveries from PMDG are auto install, it writes on and off the cfg automatically. If you send me the exact error report, i could probably help you.

    Thanks for sharing

  • after this japan went on to making toyota's (*_^)

  • @TheDallas2000 You are absolutely disgusting!! How dare you say that! Many people have suffered from this accident! You are a very nasty and gross human being without compassion!

  • @TheDallas2000 Also, Japan itself doesn't make BOEING 747's. Boeing does.

  • Nice animation but something is wrong here:you show the cockpit of a 747-400 series...they came only in 1988,and the JAL 123 aircraft was a 1974 model 747-SP,they have the old cockpit with analog gauges.

  • Read the description. He acknowledges that it's a 744 FS2004 model.

  • Indeed,my apologies...very very nice animation BTW,with the original CVR...RIP to all those who died there.

  • Good jop

  • how you use vipers

  • Already integrated in PMDG 747-400 Pro

  • VERY GOOD VIDEO EXPOSITION!

  • Thank you.

  • Wow... I just read about this crash on Wikipedia and decided to look on YouTube to see if there were any simulations, this was the first video I found. Thank you for taking the time to make this absolutely heart wrenching tribute. Very nearly made me cry. Absolutely fantastic work.

Just one question - when you were creating the simulation, did you let the plane crash or did you pull up in time?

  • Thank you for your comment. I did let the plane crash at the same geographical place wher JAL123 fell. Exact flight coordinates were used for this sim.

  • It is sad, but the pilots put a valiant effort. As a somewhat informed individual in aviation, I can't imagine how tough it was for them to fly even for a second without a vertical stabilizer. The music in the video is chillin, goes with the video.

  • Listening to that CVR is ominous. Did you know they have the technology to make a computer take over, and fly the aircraft using engine thrust only, if the ever hydrolics fail? However that costs money to implement that technology, and last I heard, it's not being used.

  • its called PCA sysytem. goverment shut down the es=xperiments-designers team because the system is hight tech and costly. Its cool though..u put in all the data u need just like autopilot and ILS's and the plane flys itselfs using engines.

  • The old DC-10 was among a group of planes capable of being controlled through throttle inputs alone. Without special technology.

  • @LateNightCable Define "capable". Yes, UA232 did manage to "land" and save 2/3 of those onboard, using throttle control. In subsequent trials and simulations of the DC10, noone managed to repeat that feat.

  • @mkarnerfors Capable, as in possible. Though simulations of AA191 who's #1 engine blew off on rotation were conducted as well with similar unfavorable results, in all these cases, JAL123 included, resulting damage to the electrical systems, and partial or complete hydraulic failure were the primary cause of the crashes. In any case, a damaged, or missing, vertical stabilizer like JAL123, would be a tough predicament for nearly any aircraft, but not a deadly one by itself.

  • @Bugstomper2 No they don't have that kind of system. It has never been implemented because in the kind of situations where you use throttle only to control an aircraft, the aircraft is always partially damaged and disabled, which gives you too many factors to put into the control system. You can't tell the computer what the aircraft's configuration is, and the computer therefore cannot control it.

  • japan air 123 lost it's tail fin due to a powerful explosion in the rear bulkhead of the plane

  • Weren't there US military forces in the area that wanted to go in for a rescue effort right after it happened, however the Japanese wouldn't let them? Then it was hours before the Japanese rescue effort arrived....

  • Daemon, great job of video and very moving

  • Thank you, glad you liked it.

  • I know, I told Daemon101 that I meant it was the "worst disaster" and not the "worst accident". Daemon101 is also not explaining why JAL 123 is the worst single-aircraft disaster in history, it should be mentioned as "the most deadly single-aircraft disaster in history", just like 9/11, which is the most deadly aviation disaster in history.

  • wow, well done. That is really touching to see and hear what they would have heard. Is this actually what they saw? weather conditions and everything close to the real ones? If so, good idea! I feel so sorry for all of them, especially cause the pilots showed excellent flying skills by bringing the plane under control as much as they could..such shitt conditions and yet they "almost"won but still it wasn't enough. at least thats what i got from nat geo:) so tragic.

  • Indeed, every aspects of the flight was reproduced from SidStars and actual flight coordinates. Weather, year, airport, crash site and, obviously, the plane itself. For more details read the ''more info in the upper right case. Thanks you

  • Daemon101, sorry but this isn't the "second-worst aviation accident of all time", it's the third. The worst aviation accident of all time is 9/11, the second is Tenerife, and the third is this one, JAL 123.

  • Read the info. (upper right)

''Remains the worst single-aircraft disaster in history, and the second-worst aviation accident of all time, second only to the Tenerife disaster.''

  • Ok, maybe I meant that 9/11 is the worst aviation disaster of all time, second is Tenerife and third is JAL 123, I'm only talking about "worst aviation disasters", not "worst single-aircraft disaster", this one is true, JAL 123 is the worst single-aircraft disaster.

  • hurt.. such a sad johnny cash song

  • This is the best real life cash simulation in a simulator.

  • Thank you

  • i love this video so touching

  • they descended 18000 ft per seconds and engine 4 came off after hitting a tree and the plane landed on its back those 4 ppl who survived were in the last 7 rows where the impact wasnt to strong

  • you forgot to mention the reason they didn't show up until the following morning. The US military already had helicopters there but the japanese told them to leave because they would handle it themselves. Afterwards, it took the japanese a while to find the crash and when they did they just assumed there were no survivors. How fucked up is that?

  • @wompasdub Mezzed up... They should have swallowed their pride and asked for the help. It is usually disrespectful to decline gifts when they are offered to you.

  • @bronco8585 gots that right

  • Me conmovió mucho.

I don´t like simulation video, but this upset me very much. Great video Daemon.

    From Canary Islands, thanks.

  • Yeah the American Air Force was in the area after the crash and pretty much begged to go in and rescue the survivors, as they had the assets available right there. The JSDF refused them, and didn't show up until the next morning.

  • I was bor August 12, 1996

  • Intense vid Daemon.. well done..

    may they r.i.p.

  • Thank you very much,

  • Great video Daemon. It's too bad that this sort of thing had to happen. May they all rest in peace.

  • Thanks

  • the man say pool up why not pieolot trying to bring plane up bakck in air they can move wing to mak aer moving and rise plan up in skiy agin

  • First, nobody said ''pool up'', its pull up !''. The voice you heard at the end of the clip, is generated by the automatic warning system of the plane. (WGPRS) or warning ground proximity system. Second, They cant ''move and rise the plane'' because they had no hydro at that time. Third, you should quit automatic web translators.

  • CLOSE. It's GPWS. Ground Proximity Warning System. Otherwise known as a GIPWIZ.

Also the pilots where trying to control pitch attitude and direction by manipulating the throttles, They where able to maintain flight for about 30 minutes by this method, while on a meandering course. They where not able to overcome the Fugoidal ocillations and became out of the synch with the throttle movements, causing an uncontrolled decent into the mountains.

  • Very very nice video. Which VGA?

  • VGA ? Be more specific please.

  • Video Graphics Adapter probably is what he is refeering. I cannot get this graphics quality in FSX in my computer as well.

  • Thanks,

    Radeon HD4870 X2 Crossfire

  • flight to hell???...LOL

id rather title this "flight to heaven"

  • correct

  • Why are the Japanese always commiting suicide :S I mean damn wasn't WW2 enough with your Kamikaze attacks...Japanese find the only way to escape fault is by suicide...Well welcome to hell

  • cheap airplane

  • Boeing 747 series are the most well crafted, stable and secure airplanes in all the industry. 747's are in the sky since 1969 and their safety records are unbeatable. Bar, none.

  • Wasn't the 737 even safer since it didn't rely completely on Hydraulics? it had a fly by cable system anyway, just in case hydraulics fail

  • r.i.p. to the families and crew members.

i was born two years later;but still its a tragic plane crash should never have happened there in a BETTER place now.

enjoy heaven passengers.:) your all angels now

  • haha i noticed the beginning audio is from the crash of PSA 182. Oh well RIP to those passengers of 182 and JAL 123

  • Indeed, PSA 182 is another drama i had in mind when i created JAL123. This short audio clip resumed well all the pain in all existing airplanes crashes.

  • rip

  • It's Johnny Cash covering the Nine Inch Nails.

    The song is called 'Hurt'.

  • i have the pmdg 747 its quite an epic simulation 5*

rip the passenger of flight 123.

  • WHAT HAPPENED ON JAL 123

  • it crashed into a mountain

  • verry nice you should be a pilot

  • You're very kind, but i think it will remain a dream. :);)

  • Do you recall that China Air Lines 611 went down in the exact same situation. Tailstrike damage years later caused the inflight breakup.

  • Yup, hopefully the 747 was not at full passengers capacity. (205 souls, total, that day) However, your right on the main cause of the crash, metal fatigue + inadequate maintenance after a previous incident. Humans will never learn for sure.

  • nicely done. Very compelling especially given its raw materials.

Actual CVR audio is always harsh. We had to listen to a bunch during Cockpit Resource Management classes in the USCG. You could hear a pin drop as each one ended.

  • Thanks, really appreciated.

  • sry i should have watch to the end of the movie...4 survivors

  • was there any survivors?

  • Very smart comment. Very brilliant.

You won the right of being blocked from this channel.

    Congratulations young boy.

  • At least the japanese people have honor, thei accept the guilty, even the emploeys who did some mistakes suicided and stuff. I mean, suciding is not right, but they couldn't live with the guilty.

  • That's not called honor, that's called the inability to accept responsibility. If you have workers committing suicide, they don't want to live with the fact that they somehow played a part in the plane's crash. It would be like President Bush committing suicide for screwing up, but he doesn't because its his responsibility as the president, that if something happens, he take blame for it (even though I'm not for Bush, just using an example).

  • Funny how you assume the definition of honor in Japan is the same as in America. You may see the workers committing suicide as irresponsible, but to a Japanese person like myself, they paid the ultimate price -- with their life.

  • With all respect, does a drama has to overcome another drama? Is it really necessary to lose another human being just to comfort the Japanese nation in his cultural behaviours?

  • Could you live with yourself if you knew that you were responsible for the deaths of 500+ people?

  • I like Daemon101s question and I thought about it myself. I think that I could live with it because I wouldnt see it necessary to take my life. Its better to live the life you have and honor the victims by doing that. But I would tell GOD that he can have my soul anytime.

  • I disagree with you here, keep in mind that different cultures don't have the same values as your own. The employees did accept responsibility for their part in the crash, and they committed suicide as reparation for their failure.

  • If there was still honor in the culture the person who decided to tell the USAF to stay away from the crash site so that the JSDF could handle (read: botch) the rescue should have killed himself. Pride isn't a good thing. In this case it killed more people than should have had to die. There is no honor in pride or suicide.

  • Flying is still a work in progress. I was a helicopter crew chief in the U.S. Air Force and for every hour of flight we had to put in something like 12 hours of maintenance. Granted, helicopter flight is considerably more dangerous and stressful on the fuselage than airplane flight, but still, it is a TON of work (and money) to keep an aircraft airworthy. Not only that, it's virtually impossible to catch EVERY crack in the airframe or bulkheads. Still very safe though.

  • ...that being said, JAL and Boeing's engineers basically killed all those people by not fixing that tail bulkhead after that tail strike. They did a half-assed, patch-up job instead of overhauling the tail and performing the kind of major repair that was necessary. I probably would have killed myself after something like this happened, too. I sure wouldn't have been able to live with knowing my actions directly contributed to killing that many people.

  • A good tribute to JAL123. Good choice of music!

  • Thanks all. Im happy to see that everyones are able to get in touch with this drama. Do not forget, peoples died and suffered from that crash. At least, we are there...

  • thanks mate now i know more information about this

    thanks for posting :)

  • Forgot to mention, Daemon, that you did a superb job on this. The music and everything went well together. It helped me understand better what these poor souls went through.

    Thank you for posting.

  • Thanks,

  • This is one of the saddest videos that I've ever seen on YouTube. I can't imagine what those people were going through.

    R.I.P.

  • T_T

It's really gut-wrenching to see it from the cockpit, even if it doesn't look real, with the recording phasing in.

  • Great rendering good job great song that's amazing they found a girl alive in a tree unhurt thats crazy

  • Thanks

  • I too want to be a pilot i have such a desire that i travel 5 hours a day to go to my school called AVIATION HIGH.

im worried that my life is in the hands of money greedy airline companies.

fantastic video ill never forget it.

  • its cheaper to become a Truck Driver or a Greyhound bus Driver, because the training are short term than a pilot. and driving school are cheaper than flight school.

  • u epic fail....

maybe a pilot gets more money than a bus driver.... average captain on a 747 gets 700k a year.. U FAIL!

  • Comment removed

  • Idiot if you understood simple fucking english, it's cheaper to BECOME a trucker, as in you don't pay up so much for schooling fucking failure

  • 700K a year? What planet are you on?

More importantly what arline are you referring to? I know some 747 drivers who will jump to sign up.

  • Touched my heart, very moving, especially the soundtrack.

  • YOU touched my heart with your comment. I made this vid to be sure nobody could forget all the human losses.

Youre now part of the chain. Thanks

  • how many died?

  • 520

  • Johnny Cash-one

  • danke,

  • hmmm,johnny cash hurt.thx trotzdem

  • you think there would have been someone that would have notice the incomplete repair job..

  • During five years, pilots of JAL123 has reported vibrations and some strange whistling noises coming from the back of the plane during their duties.

  • It would be very scary and terrifying really, to hear those warning sirens about the ground being too close, and the whistling, seeing everything and knowing its happening and that theres no way to control it, and then hearing those final words of: PULL UP!

  • Honestly at that point, I doubt the flight crew where paying bitchin betty much attention. Their only thought was to save the aircraft.

Had it become too much of a disctaction the GPWS can be inhibbited.

However flying the plane takes precidence.

  • the sadest for me, my father is the pilot of that JAL 123 and my ego is his co-pilot

  • Thanks

  • Thanks

  • Thanks

  • :-(

  • Oh my GOD that was so sad, we pay for our tickets to fly, so therefore the airline must keep their planes up to maintance, it shouln't be this easy for a 747 to not meet the requirements, especially when its been thru such abuse, in this case a tail strike, which will eventually lead to this. May all these passangers RIP, I just can't see how could their be survivors. Well I guess those 4 living can live to tell about it.

  • Great tribute. First off, I was a Navy aircraft mechanic for many years and I would be absolutel crushed if I lost an aircraft that I performed maintenance on, so I feel for that mechanic and I can only pray that the families forgive him.

As a pilot, I can say that these guys did everything in their power to save the plane, but it was a loosing battle.

May the passengers, the pilots and crew, and the mechanic rest in peace.

  • nice video this song touches my heart

  • A fitting tribute, lest we forget.

  • Our Father

    who art in heaven.....
