How to Detect Unknown Device in Windows Device Manager by Britec

I have just Bought a Used Ipod nano 5th gen with music already on it..

When i try plug it into my computer (Windows 7)

It says Unkown Device!

HELP PLEASE!

Itunes wont even recognize it!

This was well done, however my problem is that I have a unknown device, that I have no clue what it is. However it is in with the usbs and all 8 of my usb ports do not work.

So this did not help me at all. even the unknown device things, did not help me, in fact it down loaded a virus to my pc.

Hi, I am installing a new external sound card, via firewire.

when i plug it in, the device manager pops up and displays it as a question mark "unknown device" shouln't it reconize that it is a firewire device?

when i check under my IEEE 1394 bus hist controller, it doesnt list the external sound card. it lists only

"OHCI compliant ieee 1394 host controller"

do you know if its supposed to show up as a firewire under the fire wire device?

ya, after i installed the drivers from my cd, it labbles the device as an external sound card (which it is). but when i plug in my firewire , the soundcard software says it is disconected... i cant set the new external sound card as my default audio device.

@ONEyeMarco do you have another sound card? onboard sound? if so disable it in bios. what does it say in device manager about your new sound card? maybe go on forum and post screen shots so I can see
