  • Thanks a lot. I just followed the steps and restored the soaked ink pads. It seems that it is hard to find a replacement, so I rinsed them and dried them and placed them back. It works great now.

  • Yes, it is a shame to dispose of a good printer that is otherwise operating soundly; I just wish this was as easy to do as changing an ink cartridge, it should be.

  • my printer opens in the front and i can see the waste ink absoorber pads off to the right so iwas wondering if i could just pull them out and clean them. Also what do you clean them with anddo any stores offer this ervice of cleaning them?

  • @JamesonLB I wouldn't recommend pulling them out that way. These things are just drenched with ink. You will get covered in ink and then you will have the problem of getting them back in. I have heard that you can run a sink with hot water and rinse them that way while sqeezeing them to get the ink out and then hanging to dry before placing them back in. Not sure if there are places to clean them though.

  • Thanks very much, without your video I very much doubt I could have managed this operation. Not having access to replacement pads we rinsed, aqueezed and dried them by hanging them on a washing line. The larger ones came out slightly crumpled but fitted back in with a bit of stretching.

  • Wrong uniform to clean a printer,.Sir

    anyway thanks 4 video,..:)

  • Just wanted to say thanks! Was all ready to take my printer part to clean the waste ink absorber .. but decided against it after watching the video! I'll leave it to the professionals!!

  • Thanks for this video GASBOMER.

The time my canon printer reached to a point where it pops out a message "waste ink absorber full" hinted me to buy a new one. I had already 12 old canon printers, starting with Canon S200, IP 1000, IP 2000 and lately 3 Canon fine 2700 series. I had done experiment to dismantle some of the old IP series but for the IP2700 , I had been stacked-up after pulling out the casing.

Anybody who knows how to dismantle for the ink absorber replacement

    Please help

  • Goodness me what a palaver! Just think how easy that job could have been with a bit more considerate design... open flap, replace pad. Good demo though, cheers :-)

  • cool..

  • oye y tengo qeu usar corbata para poder reparar la inpresora??????

  • It's me again just put me printer back together and away we go, everything fine.

I didn't buy replacement ink pads just in case it didn't work out ,what a mess but eventually cleaned em and dried on top of radiator.

Thanks again gasbomber, Ps watch out for that tie.. y know moving parts and all that.

  • @auraman1000 - Glad it worked for you as well. It is kind of a pain, I just hate throwing away a good printer because of ink pads.

  • What a good instruction video, until I found this I was trawling through useless instruction manuals.

LONG LIVE YOU TUBE and guys who give there time.

  • nice...i will need to reset mine coz although black is ok, i have problems with colors...they all look red or sth...or yellow..or or.....

  • Very helpfull, your video. Thanks!!!

  • też potrafię rozebrać, złożyć i w nie tak drastyczny sposób jak na filmie. Rozebrałeś nowa drukarkę albo bardzo mało używaną. Z krawatem do drukarki, nie na widzę studentów! Amatorszczyzna!

  • I used this video for my i9900 and it's about the same. My pads were filled with ink, washing machine for several cycles then dryer. The printer assembly was completely covered with ink, I used a garden hose and washed it off, then I used compressed air from the shop to dry it all off. It's a dirty messy job best done on the driveway. I had a CISS tank suddenly drain into the printer. Big mess. I had nothing to lose, extreme measures were needed or dump the printer. It's working fine

  • lol @ 1:33, nice vid hope there is also for mp198
