Is that a Jaguar Trixie is driving at 0:40? An XKE? Wow. I ofcourse love the American version opening & ending. But tho' those in charge wanted a 'zippier' ending, this would have been just as interesting. Also, tho' hearing the original ending here in America as a kid would have been interesting(NOT confusing at all), I love the more jazzy piano music thats played for the American themes and found myself missing it while hearing the Japanese ending. Thanks for this!
How is that ladie at 0:22? I was never able the figure it out she looks like the bad guy from the GTRS or what ever the car was called that went 400 MPH but they don't have any other bad guys up so I don't think that's her?
As a U.S. child of the 1960's, I can't get the American version out of my head as I watch this. But, it's very interesting and it's fun to imagine there must be lots of Japanese my age who are just as nostalgic about this version!
wow i love how this show was Japaneese and American, theres something really neat about both of them, especially comparing them. To me our american version brings back awsome memories 2 me b/c i was a kid of da 90s and saw it on cartoon network reintroduced, but the japaneese ones were just awsome; a longer intro and the beeping horns in this closing r just si nice. GO SPEED RACER GOOOO...
I think it's interesting that there is an instrumental part that mimics the American lyrics "He's off and flyin' as he guns the car around the track..." even though there's no Japanese part like it in the original opening. Maybe that's where they got the idea to use it when it was remade as "Speed Racer" and re-recorded.
This was the background for the original Japanese closing credits: the actual on-screen credits were added later. In the United States, Trans-Lux, "SPEED RACER"'s American distributor, wanted a "zippier" closing theme- so Danny Davis and the Nashville Brass, who reworked the Japanese theme into English, came up with a slightly different version for the end title...
Anybody who disliked this should be ashamed of themselves.

It's just weird that after tons of old cars getting better and better, we suddenly see a 60s roadster and then futuristic stuff.

No credits or graphics to spoil the scene!

This version of the theme sounds very similar to the American intro.

@Velocity9s The American version's theme was an adaptation of the Japanese original performed by an uncredited Danny Davis and the Nashville Brass.

Very little difference.

It would have made very little difference if this was released in the US, except for the end..

I'm kind of fond of the fact that they showed Trixie in a "Curved Dash" Oldsmobile (1901-07).
