You want to know why? I can supply that. Because people that live on their cellphones and facebook are self-conscious. They're afraid that they're not important or popular or whatever and this brings about insecurity and they need to compensate for it. However, there are a few exception, especially in texting when people are more or less a social hub where you contact said person because he's so amazingly connected and those people, my friend, aren't compensating for anything. ;)

I think hypertexters are more likely to be into this stuff because those people tend to have just more addictive personalities. It's been shown that getting a text triggers the pleasure center, and those who are addicted to drugs, sex, etc. are more likely to get addicted to that rush.
Also, it may also be that those into drugs and lots of sex have more people to text.
