  • what was the song they sang before this interview i remember hearing it and also on the wrap up show..epic DH

  • "Daryl's house".... bring your guitar and lots of bug spray. Everyone in his family has lyme disease... LOL. Iggy created a genre.....stooges fuckin' rock. The hall of fame shouldn't be based on album sales alone..... let's face it, the 80's was the weakest musical decade. I like the guy and I love his stern interviews!!!! Love it that he has F U money, lets him be bitter and funny to interview.

  • Daryl's music is so versatile.Great difference among songs Its A laugh and Out of Touch.I wouldnt call that a one trick pony kind of an artist. These songs truly defer in style.Very versatile.Rungren's music is familiar to me thru songs like Bang on the Drum all Day,We Got to Get you a Woman and ofcourse Hello Its me.His catalog is much thinnner even though he is probably more respected by critics.I believe he is a good producer as well.Better than me for sure.

  • Notable to hear is Babs and Babs from Sacred Songs Daryl's first solo album.

  • He blames deer and their ticks for lime disease, yet he's pulling ticks off the cats that live in his house?

  • good guy, principled, great musician...

  • @6:30 what is Daryl saying?

  • wow daryl, angry lately? dang! this dude sounds like a tool

  • Journey should definitely be in the hall of fame

  • Hall & Oates should be in the Hall Of Fame as should Journey!

  • @arrozconsalsa lol too much for your conservative outlook canuck?

  • The best part about this interview is the version of the actual video where Daryl is clearly wearing a Bouncing Souls T-shirt. Recognizable by we Souls fans. Daryl is alright by that standard. And deer in my neighborhood are like rats. I'm Ok with roadkilln 'em.

  • To sonyafly-unless you get treated immediately, you continue to HAVE (not had) Lyme. Educate yourself. He and the rest of us people who have been suffering with the BS of Lyme are all pissed off. I am pissed at the medical community, insurance companies, and the gvt for passing on misinformation. This is a serious illness that the medical community is divided over and the insurance co don't want to treat. The patients are stuck in the middle and are basically screwed!

  • I hate this turd's awful corporate idea of "rock music" with a passion, but I have to admit he's pure gold on Stern!! I really enjoy what a bitter fuck he is... so obviously wanting to be in the HOF!! Living in the middle of nowhere and getting mad at deer for his Lyme disease!! The years of obscurity (after his popularity) have certainly turned him into a sour ol' crank!! Bravo to Stern for recognizing this!!

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 are you nuts? why would you call daryl hall a "turd"? what did he ever do to you? he created great music, and had dozens of hits in the 70's and 80's. he seems like a good guy you asshole

  • @cbarrett34 : I call him a turd because #1. He literally advocates genocide of deer because he's too fucking stupid to move out of the woods!! He contracted Lyme's disease because he lived way the fuck out in the middle of nowhere... and, instead of being mad at himself, he's mad at deer, as if they meant to carry the disease so a tick could bite Daryl Hall!! #2. His watered-down excuse for a whitey playing soul is total corporate fluff... he's an 80s has-been... so many people have this...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 ... romanticized view of the 80s, but I was there and I had to live through all the shitty music that was popular then... Duran Duran, Culture Club, Madonna, Michael Jackson... and fucking Hall and Oates! Disposable pop crap that the world is better off without!! He doesn't seem like a good guy, he seems like a total douchebag!! And how dare you call me asshole, you troglodidic moron!! Now get lost, I think your "Private Eyes" CD is calling you...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 he might be as has been, but you're a never been and never will be

  • @cbarrett34 : Nice dodge...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 how old are you? i'm 38. if you grew up when i did, in the mtv 80's, you will know that hall and oates were huge, and very good and entertaining and talented

  • @cbarrett34 : I never said they weren't huge, but they certainly weren't good... it was corporate rock!! With the advent of MTV, the corporate bigwigs really sunk their claws into rock music... MTV was fun for the first couple of years, but once big bands started making videos and bands became big because of their videos (instead of their music) it was really downhill from there!!

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 you're nuts. they weren't even rock. they were a pop r&b group, catchy pop songs, with good hooks and daryl hall could really sing. i'm done arguing with you, you're a moron, goodbye

  • @cbarrett34 : You're actually right for once in your life... I was using the term "rock" as an all-purpose word, much like the HOF does (why else would Run DMC be in it!?!?)... no, they certainly weren't really "rock", they were shit! And if you think they're so great, YOU go listen to them!!

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 they were great, and daryl hall could sing very well. maneater, private eyes, rich girl, sara smile, kiss on my list, one on one, out of touch, etc. they were a hit making machine, whether or not you liked them or not, you can't deny that. the music nowadays is shit. these guys actually played instruments and wrote their own songs, IMAGINE THAT? the artists nowadays, it's all singing through autotune machines, and rap and sampled beats, keyboards, etc.

  • @cbarrett34 : Oh, hogwash!! Their music is just as crappy as today's... just because they play their own instruments doesn't mean the songs are any better! Boring ol' love songs, white boys trying to be soul singers!! By the numbers pop!! Yawnsville!! I even had the misfortune of seeing 'em on the "Private Eyes" tour... very dull! They're talented in a perfunctory kind'a way, but they're certainly nothing special! Besides, most of Howard's audience is into hard rock...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 ask anyone who is musically talented and ask them if daryl hall is a good singer and the majority will say yes. i work at a music shop and have taught guitar for 20 years. i know music and music theory. he's very talented. who cares if they were white R&B or whatever. they grew up in philly in the 60's and that was the music they grew up hearing. why do you have to be such a hater man?

  • @cbarrett34 : Sigh... are we pulling out our credentials now? Ok, I've been playing guitar, bass and drums for almost 30 years and have been working at Gibson Guitar for 10 (no illegal wood jokes, please!). Every single one of my friends are either in a band or were in a band. However, none of that changes the fact that Hall & Oates were pedestrian corporate pop... they were good at that, but real, serious musicians? Bullshit!! They aren't fit to suck John Coltrane's dick!! They are nothing...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 ... but product, plain and simple!! Anyone trained in music should be able to see through their garbage! Having a nostalgic fondness for the crappy pop you liked as a kid is normal (personally, I still have a soft spot in my heart for KISS), but at some point you mature and see it for what it is... H&O's music was disposable, corporate crap. Competent? Sure. Hall has a nice voice? Sure. But it's soulless! Made with the main intent of making money... not a hater, a realist.

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 Designed to make money? Daryl doesnt need any more money. Plus his records dont sell enough these days to even cover the cost of production - he does it because its he loves playing music - is that so hard to believe?

  • @theBadloves : I was referring to his popular stuff. I'm sure he does love playing music, but he's nothing special. He produced product moreso than music. And if you think he's taking a hit whatsoever in making records, you need to rethink that. It's funny that you think he doesn't want to make money because he has enough already...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 He's nothing special? Are you joking? Hall and Oates are the biggest duo in the history of music - you can say you dont enjoy his music but to say he hasnt achieved anything just sounds like you are jealous or something. He is a great singer, he's rich, he's good looking.......so name an artist who you feel is special....let me guess, Tom Petty? Bruce? Tom Waits? All the cliches hey?

  • @theBadloves : He was a successful pop star in the 70s and 80s... nothing special. I never said he hasn't achieved anything, he's just not a musician. He was a pop star who is equal parts stupid and bitter these days... and I like that better than his music! But, he isn't in the same category as the guys you mention... at some point, they all ignored commercial constraints and did more experimental stuff than 3-chord top 40 fluff. However, I think Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk were special...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 ... they have more of a claim to being a true musician than the goof that wrote "Maneater", I'm sorry...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 Maneater was also Daryl's biggest UK hit.

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 We'll have to agree to disagree. Its too easy to say that pop music isnt a valid form of art. Your idea of musical genius is Monk whereas mine would be Todd Rundgren....of which Daryl is a student.

  • @theBadloves : Todd Rundgren has a more solid claim to "genius" than Daryl fucking Hall, for sure...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 Yeah, well, that's just like, your opinion man.

  • @mangere77 : I suppose... although I'd take my opinion over anyone's who thought Hall was closer to musical genius than Rundgren any day of the week, twice on Sundays...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 I like Todd's intresting connection to Steven Tyler .He claimed to be the father of Liv.Steven was the real father.Daryl's music is much more fun to me than Runt's or Todd's however the difference between Todd's and Daryl's music is very large. and not worth comparison.

  • @LeonNikkidude : Why I'd rate Rundgren higher is because he wasn't afraid to experiment. Hall was a one-trick pony, and the trick had already been done to death. He's a run-of-the-mill popster...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 You know...you didn't have to listen.

  • @vloghog1 : You might wanna go to my first post... I love him as a guest on Howard, I just think he's an idiot.

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 You sound like the bitter one. Chill.

  • @vloghog1 : I'll get right on that when your opinion means anything whatsoever...
