High-profile people lead very busy (often jet-lagged) public lives with comitments made months in advance to appear at events, lending their stature at events that should be upheld even by the smallest of minds.

I am not very fond of Clinton but this is not something to hold against him or any other person for that matter. Sleep is a very innocent act. You and I can not control it. Once it comes it is s sign of something that happened earlier i.e. lack of sleep or fatigue.

And George Bush was on vacation outside of Washington for more than 40% of his presidency before Septmeber 11, 2001. 40%. If Bill Clinton made the mistake of deciding not to keep Bin Ladin in custody, couldn't Bush have used that 40% of his time to change that instead of spending time on his ranch to prove to America that he's "just a regular guy"?

You are never on vacation when you are president. That job is 24/7. Taking a vacation when you are the president means, that you are still doing the job but you are doing it in a much more relaxed location and after, Al Gore tried to steal the election, Bush deserved any vacation he could get. At least bush had the guts and brains to defend America.

He absolutely did not deserve a vacation. As the president of the United States, you should be willing to sacrifice your vacation time for America. It's not a part time job. And Al Gore did not try to steal the election. The majority of America voted for him and it's the electoral college that caused the confusion. And i don't believe that Bush did defend America. I think he avoided a problem, and when it became reality, he oversompensated in a horrific way.
