This is a Columbine tribute. A girl named Cassie was shot because one of the boys that was shooting asked her if she believed in God, and she said, "Yes" and she was shot. This song is simply beautiful.

But it wasn't Cassie Bernall who was asked that question; in actuality, it was Valeen Schnurr, who was shot but survived. The witness who originally claimed to have heard Bernall's voice participate in the exchange later realized that it had not been her who had spoken.

unfortunately, there are conflicting stories about what really happened. a lot of the students who were there say that this isn't what actually happened. It's a nice thought though....don't know how glamorous it is to die for a belief in something with no real factual evidence...but i guess that's why they call it faith. I doubt anyone would make the same choice knowing that the killers and themselves were going to the same place...in the dirt.

Since when did music have to have some underlying message, the message the song gives you should be personal, so no matter what the song is about, the authors purpose is to get you to relate to it so you can try to relate to them, Cassie is a song, not a story, if it was a story Flyleaf would have written a book on it, not write a song
