Explosion of knowledge and travel seems to be accelerating exponentially, and I wonder if the ancient wording allowed for that. I like Daniel but don't presume to understand all the prophecies. @d3ltadrive You keep using the word PROVE. You cant absolutely prove anything. Theories are supported by facts. Science uses inductive logic not deductive logic. Deductive logic is fraud because it gives absolute outcomes and it depends on your premise. The big bang has been supported overwhelming by predictions, and the structure of the observable universe. And there are experiments being done today to discover some of the early partials involved (see CERN).
@fsx23 evolution was a valid theory, but now it cannot be accepted without something to guide it simply because of the complexity of cells. the bubble theory would be lucky to create on protein over a million year period, and there are millions in one strand of DNA. there is also all the other elements of cells that keep it running and for chemical reactions just to come together like that and efficiently run a living thing without any guidance.

Christianity is a faith and because I think I'll be lucky to see 80 years on this planet I think faith will have to be a large part of it because I don't expect to know the mysteries of the universe by the time I depart.

Explosion of knowledge and travel seems to be accelerating exponentially, and I wonder if the ancient wording allowed for that. I like Daniel but don't presume to understand all the prophecies. Seems like he will be resurrected early to finish fulfilling his role. Also of late I've wondered if St. John never did die according to that mysterious interchange with Jesus. Discounting the Eastern Orthodox is a mistake; they, too, must have a role in end-time prophecy.

As for contradictions the bible says that god is loving yet in Exodus 31:12-15 god says to kill any one who works on the sabbath,Deuteronomy 13:6-10 says that if some one tries to convert you you have to kill them.

Sorry you are just explaining god. You are so convinced he exist that you have not considered that he might not. Reality is reality period. You are sugesting another reality. @fsx23 the bible as a whole though is mostly true. there are some small errors such as that Jesus was a carpenter (he was a stone worker), and there is also the error of interpretation. only recently have people begun to take the bible completely literally. this is probably one of the reasons that you do not trust organized religion. if you take a second to look at it from a nonliteral point of view you see many moral truths and many things that science has proved over the past few hundred years

@d3ltadrive No,No, No it is not true, or moral, and there is no historical evidence for a single event in the bible. Does it mention real places and people yes. But it is in the context of legend and myth. And most of it is probably just made up, because we have no evidence for events, that would clearly leave evidence. Like Egyptians enslaving countless Jews, and evidence of this group traveling for 40 years in the desert.

@fsx23 first off I dont know exactly what your trying to respond to but this is true with all world history. what we know about our history is based off of interpretations of archaeological evidence and historical accounts from historians and chroniclers of the time. all history is theory, no one actually knows what happened in our past. in fact everything we know is either theory or conceptual, even experimental, as observations and interpretations of them were made to come to a conclusion.

@d3ltadrive Right and there is no archaeological for almost anything in the bible, aside from a few cities and possibly a few kings. That means nothing to me. In 10000 years someone who read spider man could discover the remnants of new york. Does that mean spider man was real??

@fsx23 this is true for all ancient history. i can see why you rejected the bible. you took it literally. most people today take it symbolically unless it proves their point. the bible is symbolic. no one knows how the universe was created, genesis chapter one is in reference to the creation of the human soul. science does not contradict the bible at all. science completely contradicts spider man and we know that spider man is just a story.
the bible teaches morality and makes prophecies.

@fsx23 by the way their is alot of archaeological evidence, especially for creation. there is no archaeological evidence for the theory that the earth is billions of years old. (young earth creationism isnt ancient. its newer than the theory of evolution, the same goes for the flat earth theory and other such theories that are pegged with being ancient theories of less advanced people. if you interpreted the bible literally 2000 years ago you were the village idiot.)

@fsx23 if you follow the bible consitantly you see that each day was 1000 years, and that in between the first and second day was several hundred thousand years. by guided natural selection we got to the 6th day. then God gave a spirit to man and gave us language ingenuity ect., but with this came people who went away from God (ei. ate the apple). the other tribes described were the other stone age type people but without the spirit.

@fsx23 the point of the creation story is to 1. show Gods relationship with the universe and existence, and 2. to show the creation of mans spirit. no one ever intended for anyone to interpret as the world was actually made in 6 days. God knew of this before hand, but gave us free will.

@fsx23 by the way most of revelation has happened already. its not some crazy thing out in the future. its been happening since the book was written and has been fully true so far, without having to have some crazy formula or crazy symbolic relation based on little things out of context. it was written in code but this was because many of the prophecies were about the downfall of rome (which wouldnt have been taken very well with the emperor) whether or not it was coded by john or God is unknown

@fsx23 every system that is not perfect is by nature self destructive. we see this in government. the perfect form of government would be anarchy but this is not even remotely possible without an omnibenevolent omniscient and omnipresent guide to prevent the inevitable rise of tyranny. the closest thing we have to it is a republic, but it has a weakness in the monetary system. it will try and control more and more and eventually be crippled with debt. we see this nature in all governing bodies.

@d3ltadrive when related to government we can see that the universe is lawful anarchy, everything rules itself, but there is still law. there is no representation to create law but rather this law is eternal. this is the ultimate goal of all government but has been impossible to to the lack of an omnibenivolent, omniscient, and omnipresent guide. i understand that this comparison is not perfect but it is the closest you can get to describing the way in which the universe fundamentally works.

I opened my bible at random and landed right at isaiah 53 :) the prophecy of the suffering servant..... he bore the sin of many and made intercession for the trangressors.. read the whole chap . amazing

God says those who blesses Israel shall be blessed and those who curse Israel shall be cursed. Israel is the apple of God's eye. Folks - 6,000 years IS the key number, there's no over 10K there's no 6.4 billion years - Dinosaurs weren't roaming the Earth Millions and Millions of years ago - No! I would go as far to say that Dinosaurs may well have been around when Adam and Eve were in the Garden.

-in the jewish calendar now is year 5771 (changes soon).
-bible speaks of our Sabbath rest, that is years 6000-7000.
