I noticed this symptom amongst Korean war brides. They're uneucated, mostly from poor, rural environment who prostituted themselves to land an American GI, back in the 1950's and 1960's, when Korea was dirt poor from the Korean war. Not all, but a lot of them have hot tempers and they can get rude and disrespectful with people around them. My mom's Korean and she's tried to raise me in a Korean environment but I couldn't stand it. Not all, but a lot of them have hot tempers and they can get rude and disrespectful with people around them. I know a lot of Americans will be like "omg, how can you say that? you can't just stereotype a whole nation. everyone is different" but it's true. Koreans have a culture that tends to react to stress with anger. My mom also never hugged/kissed me. I don't think they're big on physical contact.

I have a rather technical question. I don't know anything about psychology or therapy at all, but how exactly do you define a "mental disorder"? Upon what basis are you comparing symptoms or characteristics you see in people (I assume this is how you diagnose people)? Basically I'm wondering how you manage the cliche dilemma of defining "normal."
