They are just saying they like primus. It's kinda their motto since the beginning. So you know if someone is a primus fan (me) if they say that primus sucks. So people aren't dissing primus, they are saying they like them.

I would agree with you that those are two great 3-piece bands that played in that era, but if you are going to mention great 3-pieces, you have to give mention to RUSH. Rush is easily one of the most talented bands going, and certainly one of the most tight. I would probably give them the nod for best 3-piece of all time. Nearly 40 years of playing. Geddy, Neil, and Alex are rock legends that have inspired countless bands, and countless artists like Claypool.
