As horrible as I think it is that they put this child through this rather than just hiring some child actor to cry on camera I think that many of you idiots have misunderstood the ad. The mother did not just leave the child to go have a cigarette. They were trying to say that the mother died from smoking. And if the child gets that disappointed over being left alone for a minute, how is he going to feel when he loses his parent FOREVER because they died from smoking.
The anti-smoker nannies have stooped to a new low. Terrorizing a young child to promote their agenda. Those involved with the production of this ad should be jailed for child abuse. Bad enough they want to take our rights away, now they are abusing children to do it.
@MoejoTheGreat Yep, that's right. The dictator Fiona Sharkie and her cronies have taken away all our rights. The non-smokers have got it their way now. Once this agenda is completed they will need something else to ruin. Just wait until dictator Sharkie gets her teeth into an anti drinking agenda. Then we are all fucked. She has absolutely no right to tell me how I should live my life. She should piss off.
Alright, so, if I were to go outside to smoke, I would take the kid with me, not leave him alone in the train station, who could go anywhere, and anyone could take him, ... retarded ad
@hackersrule1--that's not the point of this ad, if you keep smoking you COULD die, and he wouldn't have his mother around anymore. He cried that much when he got separated from her for 5 minutes, IMAGINE how he would feel if he lost her from smoking. That's what they mean.
ppl that are not parents they don't feel this but i am parent and it really made me feel sad and effected me i don't wanna see my kid crying for me i will do anything for them not just quit smoking
@NinerTiger just so you know, those were not fake tears. He was taken there and told to stay where he was no matter what. Then his mother left him there. They were real tears, so don't you go dismissing it like nothing happened.
IF everyone is so concerned about the little boy why are we still dumping thousands of cell phones in landfills and contaminating water. Jets dump their fuel over head and we say nothing. Ships dump all kinds of stuff over board and we eat shuhi and shellfish. Yes cigarettes are bad but my nephew at that boys age watched as ovarian cancer killed my sister over a six year course. She never smoked. She almost beat it. In the end it didn't matter that she did not smoke.
Jesus Lord, I see my son in this; please don't make it real. I don't know if I'll be able to handle the pain. The tears from this child will become a sea where I'll drown... Bless my son and all others around the world!
Jesus Lord, I see my son in this; please don't make it real. I don't know if I'll be able to handle the pain. The tears from this child will become a sea where I'll drown... Bless my son and all others around the world!
the camera was right in the boys face at 31-to 37.seconds(about)10 angle shots(i counted) that would meen a lot of these ACTORS would be bumping into the camera and crew like crazy the kid was even directed to turn around so they could get a good shot of him-and no one would stop to help? PLEASE!
nice watery eyes at the end,but they couldnt get him to cry.
the director and editor did the job;they made you belive it.
Over the years I've come across kids just like this. I think we've all been this little boy at least once in our lives and that's one of the targets they're aiming for, besides our natural instinct to help our young. But their point is spot on. I lost my Dad to cancer from smoking. We reckon it took him 20 years too early.
I get it. I get why they would make this little kid cry for one commercial. It may be mean for a minute, but it affects people, it gets them to think. I was like that kid, and I know how scary it can be to worry about losing a parent. I get why they did this, and I agree with the point they are trying to make.
I get it. My mother smoked for years, and I was always terrified that I would lose her because of it. I completely adore my mom and I tried everything to make her stop when I was even a little older than Alex. I would cut her cigarettes in two, flush them down the toilet and even replace them with chocolate cigarettes. (Which I thought was hilarious) One day my moms best friend was stricken with horrible backpain and went to the hospital to find out she had cancer.... (chain smoker) continued:
...and the cancer had shattered a vertibre in her spine. She died only a few short months later. My mom, that day that her friend died of cancer, had a smoke. Her friends husband came over and had one too. They both looked up at the sky (which was stormy and dark) and the husband said "Shes gone, but shes looking down at us and shes not happy." My mom put her cigarette down and never touched one again. Cold turkey. Its been exactly a year, and I couldnt be more proud of my dear mommy. :)
i watched my grandma die of lung cancer when i was 5 years old, i still cry when i think about the day i lost her. Please stop smoking everyone, if not for yourself for your loved ones that will miss you dearly.
Poor kid cried for nothing. Smokers don't care about theri kids. They care about their smoking crutches more than they'll ever care about their kids. Yet they continue to smoke. Smoking kills, it's posted right on the side. Second hand smoke kills innocents. Yet smokers keep on smoking. They don't care about anyone but themselves. Add more chemicals to cigarettes add chemicals that render smokers sterile! They'd still continue to smoke and then die out!
@JCBizkit87 Well not only because they are actors. but that is not the point of the video. The point it a kid sad/scared that he lost his parents and doesn't know where the hell to go or do. It's not about weather someone would help him or not because that is pretty obvious.
@JCBizkit87 actually a study was done where a child was on the streets in sydney crying and over 100 people passed before on person stopped to see if he was okay. That person didn't even think about it and would have passed if their own child about the same age said "Mummy that little boy is crying, where is his mummy?" It is the sad truth. People are to preoccuipied in their own lives to hear the cry of a child.
@AmethestBabe that really is amazing. I guess I would hang out with the kid until we would find his parents, but I guess I'm just nicer than most people, or whatever.
I hope that kid got paid ALOT of money for that, for he deserves it for going through that "Losing Mommy" situation. I know it was a good ad, but that poor child, thats just not right!

Are you talking to me or to HellzRhiino? Because I'm pretty sure that's what I said... Ethicaly they should also get the childs permission, but legally it's up to the parents.
YEs it is very sad to think that adults out there think that this is an acceptable thing to do to a child. It's absolutely amazing. Abusing a child to make a a point. You can't justify that. People on this planet are really that nasty and horrible so unfortunate. Now Alex might grow to think no harm he's ok he dont remember it so therefore... It's still ok?? No.... heh.. no people... damn
If idiotic people didnt smoke to begin with this wouldnt even be necessary. These anti-smoking ads are so unnecessary. If people are that stupid why waste your t ime and traumatize a little boy for other people's stupidity. Let them smoke their brains our, who cares if t hey wanna kill themselves.

this is b.s. - it was NOT ok to do that to that child.

Im sure they had to get permission from the kid himself.

Ethicaly, yeah, but legaly probably not. He can't sign a contract or anything giving them permission. It would've been up to his parents.

Wtf you talking about? If his parents sign a permission, then it is LEGAL to do it, since they decide for him, its legal. stupid.

Are you talking to me or to HellzRhiino? Because I'm pretty sure that's what I said... Ethicaly they should also get the childs permission, but legally it's up to the parents.

Come on..
It's a commercial ad..
Everyone there is playing the part of an actor..
Look at the ads with the people with disfigured
faces or lungs chopped up on a table
and that is worse than anything..
Stop smoking will take 1 or 2 times to try, or it
could take a dozen or more tries to quit smoking.
Keep trying and you will stop smoking..
