  • poor boy x

  • Idiots the ad isn't for the mom going out to smoke! It's that the mom died because she was smoking!! Duhh

  • As horrible as I think it is that they put this child through this rather than just hiring some child actor to cry on camera I think that many of you idiots have misunderstood the ad. The mother did not just leave the child to go have a cigarette. They were trying to say that the mother died from smoking. And if the child gets that disappointed over being left alone for a minute, how is he going to feel when he loses his parent FOREVER because they died from smoking.

  • The anti-smoker nannies have stooped to a new low. Terrorizing a young child to promote their agenda. Those involved with the production of this ad should be jailed for child abuse. Bad enough they want to take our rights away, now they are abusing children to do it.

  • @MoejoTheGreat Yep, that's right. The dictator Fiona Sharkie and her cronies have taken away all our rights. The non-smokers have got it their way now. Once this agenda is completed they will need something else to ruin. Just wait until dictator Sharkie gets her teeth into an anti drinking agenda. Then we are all fucked. She has absolutely no right to tell me how I should live my life. She should piss off.

  • I was soooo near to cry :'( -3 [•_•]-(i hate the mom)

  • Alright, so, if I were to go outside to smoke, I would take the kid with me, not leave him alone in the train station, who could go anywhere, and anyone could take him, ... retarded ad

  • @hackersrule1--that's not the point of this ad, if you keep smoking you COULD die, and he wouldn't have his mother around anymore. He cried that much when he got separated from her for 5 minutes, IMAGINE how he would feel if he lost her from smoking. That's what they mean.

  • so so so so so so so so so so so so so sad

  • wow that mom must really hate her kid, am i right!?

  • @chicglitzoh13 me too!

  • He is ah-dorable but omg there shouldve been a happy ending lyk she comes bckk or somethingg (: juss my opinion ! ;

  • OMG I cried the whole way knowing that my dad smokes it made me soooo upset and now I wonder wat will happen to my dad

  • I barley cried

  • Awww poor little boy

  • lol lol lol lol lol olololol

  • I'm going to kill myself now, and it's all that little bastard's fault! God bless him!

  • poor kid

  • ppl that are not parents they don't feel this but i am parent and it really made me feel sad and effected me i don't wanna see my kid crying for me i will do anything for them not just quit smoking

  • Where's stimpykorn's cruel posting. I'm sad, it seems to be gone.

  • Wah.. wah.......... wah. He was all smiles after getting a few bucks for squeezing out a few fake tears. Everyone's happy. Go have a smoke.

  • @NinerTiger just so you know, those were not fake tears. He was taken there and told to stay where he was no matter what. Then his mother left him there. They were real tears, so don't you go dismissing it like nothing happened.

  • How many of you idiots, as a 4 year old, couldn't find your mum/dad for a minute and cried? All of you.

Anyone permanently scarred? No? Cool, neither is this kid.

  • IF everyone is so concerned about the little boy why are we still dumping thousands of cell phones in landfills and contaminating water. Jets dump their fuel over head and we say nothing. Ships dump all kinds of stuff over board and we eat shuhi and shellfish. Yes cigarettes are bad but my nephew at that boys age watched as ovarian cancer killed my sister over a six year course. She never smoked. She almost beat it. In the end it didn't matter that she did not smoke.

  • wow. whats this world coming to anti child abandonment commercials......lmao i know its a anti smoking one

  • wow. whats this world coming to anti child abandonment commercials......lmao i know its a anto smoking one

  • dont cry sugar pie

ur mommy is glowing for smoking

time to tell her to stop or go to the cop

help, u can get but not the same mom u met

  • @mohammednice he cant hear you, shut the fuck up you sound 3

  • only complete morons smoke cigarettes. You all need to have your heads checked.

  • @ItsFrankieBoy shut the fuck up

  • @hamiltonpope23 Dont get mad at me because you need to have a cigarette in youre mouth to live your life. Blame yourself.

  • @hamiltonpope23 - Did he hit a nerve nicotine breath?

  • Jesus Lord, I see my son in this; please don't make it real. I don't know if I'll be able to handle the pain. The tears from this child will become a sea where I'll drown... Bless my son and all others around the world!

  • guys, this is youtube, why would you want to WATCH commercials???

  • unethical?

  • BIG CAMERA CREW! hellllooooo ALL ACTORS!

the camera was right in the boys face at 31-to 37.seconds(about)10 angle shots(i counted) that would meen a lot of these ACTORS would be bumping into the camera and crew like crazy the kid was even directed to turn around so they could get a good shot of him-and no one would stop to help? PLEASE!

nice watery eyes at the end,but they couldnt get him to cry.

the director and editor did the job;they made you belive it.

now leave me be, i nead a smoke!

  • @inmylife10465 - The camera was NOT in the boy's face otherwise they would'nt have gotten the 'shot'! They had to use a long-distance lens.

  • Over the years I've come across kids just like this. I think we've all been this little boy at least once in our lives and that's one of the targets they're aiming for, besides our natural instinct to help our young. But their point is spot on. I lost my Dad to cancer from smoking. We reckon it took him 20 years too early.

  • Wow.

  • I get it. I get why they would make this little kid cry for one commercial. It may be mean for a minute, but it affects people, it gets them to think. I was like that kid, and I know how scary it can be to worry about losing a parent. I get why they did this, and I agree with the point they are trying to make.

  • I get it. My mother smoked for years, and I was always terrified that I would lose her because of it. I completely adore my mom and I tried everything to make her stop when I was even a little older than Alex. I would cut her cigarettes in two, flush them down the toilet and even replace them with chocolate cigarettes. (Which I thought was hilarious) One day my moms best friend was stricken with horrible backpain and went to the hospital to find out she had cancer.... (chain smoker) continued:

  • @Jay57575 - Thank you for your wonderful story - I'm so glad it had a happy ending! God Bless.

  • ...and the cancer had shattered a vertibre in her spine. She died only a few short months later. My mom, that day that her friend died of cancer, had a smoke. Her friends husband came over and had one too. They both looked up at the sky (which was stormy and dark) and the husband said "Shes gone, but shes looking down at us and shes not happy." My mom put her cigarette down and never touched one again. Cold turkey. Its been exactly a year, and I couldnt be more proud of my dear mommy. :)

  • @Jay57575 Thanks for sharing you beautiful story

  • this commercial would really speak to smoking parents lik seriously they should keep airing this commercial!

  • i watched my grandma die of lung cancer when i was 5 years old, i still cry when i think about the day i lost her. Please stop smoking everyone, if not for yourself for your loved ones that will miss you dearly.

  • Poor kid cried for nothing. Smokers don't care about theri kids. They care about their smoking crutches more than they'll ever care about their kids. Yet they continue to smoke. Smoking kills, it's posted right on the side. Second hand smoke kills innocents. Yet smokers keep on smoking. They don't care about anyone but themselves. Add more chemicals to cigarettes add chemicals that render smokers sterile! They'd still continue to smoke and then die out!

  • I realize this is a smoking commercial, but how does not one person in that airport or whatever it is help the kid?

  • @JCBizkit87 cuz ther all actors

  • @JCBizkit87 Well not only because they are actors. but that is not the point of the video. The point it a kid sad/scared that he lost his parents and doesn't know where the hell to go or do. It's not about weather someone would help him or not because that is pretty obvious.

  • @jasonx165 fuck the point of the commercial... the people around him are assholes... lol

  • @JCBizkit87 actually a study was done where a child was on the streets in sydney crying and over 100 people passed before on person stopped to see if he was okay. That person didn't even think about it and would have passed if their own child about the same age said "Mummy that little boy is crying, where is his mummy?" It is the sad truth. People are to preoccuipied in their own lives to hear the cry of a child.

  • @AmethestBabe that really is amazing. I guess I would hang out with the kid until we would find his parents, but I guess I'm just nicer than most people, or whatever.

  • @JCBizkit87 Yer thats what I said when I found out, but what can you do?

  • @AmethestBabe - Christ, I hope you're wrong.

  • oh just give him a cigarette

  • Goebels would have been proud for this kinda propaganda.

  • that was so bad

  • Oh my God, his face, oh my God. I generally don't care for children, but oh my God. I so feel for him

  • Comment removed

  • I hope that kid got paid ALOT of money for that, for he deserves it for going through that "Losing Mommy" situation. I know it was a good ad, but that poor child, thats just not right!

  • yeah smoke cock not nicotine

  • dude this day got an electronic smoke that will not cause any harm n tasty like ciga n very2 cheap..n also don cause pollution!!!btw i don smoke i just saw my dad use that

  • Will you all WAKE UP???? It's not about YOU or what YOU would do!!! You YOU YOU!! It's to wake you up about who is left behind when a parent PERMANENTLY DISAPPEARS for a completely preventable reason: ie DEATH due to smoking (as my mother did). Get over yourselves and look around!!! EVERY child who has a parent who smokes could be THIS child!!

  • aw poor little sweetheart :( i wuldve helped him find his mommy

  • If I were to see a child crying in a public place, I would get down onhis or her level and ask them, "Are you lost?" and take them to the lost child section, and stay with them until the parent was found. This was not funny, this child was genuinely scared.

  • The message is powerful... seeing him panic after losing sight of his mom evoked similar memories from my childhood. I can't imagine losing either one of my parents forever... and if I had, I can only imagine the emotion on the boys face amplified by 1000 could hardly compare to what I'd feel. Forever is forever, there's no second chances.

  • He was upset for a few minuets, and it is kinda mean yeah.. But if it stops people smoking or gets them to quit surely the five minuets of his anxiety is worth it? He'll understand when he's older. And i dont see anyone helping him if i saw a child crying I'd ask him if hes lost his parents and take him to a security guard.

  • gah...

  • if i saw this, i would give him a HUGE hug and help him find his mommy<3

  • makes me cryyyy :(

i dont like seeing little kids cry :(

its the same with animals D: i hate any form of neglect towards animals..

There is a reason why this sort of advert is effective though and i think it has something to do with the fact that it is a child.. therefore vulnerable and helpless when without a parent (its the same sort of thing with an animal) whereas if it were someone older in place of that child, it would not be AS effective. idk something like that.. really good advert tho

  • This is such an immensely sad commercial.

It's also terrible, because who would DO this to a child? It's horrible. Even if his anxiety only lasted a few seconds...

    Still horrid.

I shed tears watching this :(

  • Seeing that kid cry genuinely is very, very sad and I don't really care much for kids, but I do not like seeing anybody hurt in any way.

This advertisement is a great endorsement for parents to quit smoking.

And for those who joke about kicking him in the face and watching him fall down the escalator, may I reduce you to a five year old, make you cry, then beat you for it?

This kid did a great job, and I actually feel for him.

  • omg are they retarted its a fucking kid. why would u want to kick him in the face

  • thats so sad

  • Imagine... if you kicked him in the face.

  • @Stimpykorn haaaaaaaaaaaa hohohoohohohoo

  • @Stimpykorn HAAAAAAAAa hohohohohohooooo

  • @Stimpykorn so, you would like to kick that poor 5 yr. old in the face? thats cold....

  • This broke my heart.....so sad!

  • BAMMM!!!! no parent is going to smoke after that !

    nipped it in the butt

    ......well no good parent.

....welll i geuss ur not good parent if u smoke.

so basically this commercial recruited no smokers to quite

  • nice one!

  • OMG that was soo sad!

His cute little scared face brought tears to my eyes!

  • What, so they actually had to scare the boy in order to make this commercial?

  • hurting kids to prove a piont about somthing that hurts people that undermines everything there going for in the ad and yes i smoke but i dont advocate it

  • pure exploitation

  • in america they said tht this commericial traumatized this kid cuz it was his real mom and she just left him...hes little he didnt know it was a commericial

  • yes he did they all rehearsed it and everything you should see the part 1 from the today show

  • Someone was pinching his leg.

I bet that kid takes up smoking when he turns 15.

  • LOL @ the sign in the background : "RailCity Tickets"

    Which station is it?

  • This is acting, people.

To make kids cry, they usually blow menthol in their eyes (that REALLY hurts).

This kids alright, this ad sells its point.

  • thats soo sad

but it'll help people quit smoking

    i almost cried seeing this!

  • Me too

  • me too i lived something simmilar during 1 hour and half it feels horrible :(

  • that was sooo sad..

  • :( sad.. but a really good ad. people are making wayyyy to much of big deal about this. not even 15 seconds of crying.

  • hmm...i want ice cream now.... :P

  • i had to watch this video in school once and it made us cry :'(

  • That was really sad :(

  • Quit smoking now...yes, it is one of the hardest things you will ever do...I know I did it...but it is better than what this little boy felt for a brief moment...to lose you would be the hardest thing your family could ever do...for a lifetime!!!!!! Think about it!

    Peace and God Bless!

    "No Ordinary Jane!"

  • "We made this commercial within the letter of the law."

But not the *spirit * of the law.

    Unacceptable, Ms Sharkie.

  • damn this videos a bummer

  • HOW IS THIS ETHICAL! Im sure this little kid doesnt smoke so why should he feel the pain of a commercial? Those were real tears and that was not fair to him, even if he cried for a few moments, not fair.

  • Hey. It happens in everyday life. And the people aren't always actors either...

He felt pain for about 30 seconds and probably got icecream after.

  • Some people really do have no common sense... If this child was really left in an uncontrolled area surrounded by strangers don't you think one of them would have stopped? No one did why?.... Because they are all actors. It may not have been nice to put there child through that but it potentially saved thousands of lives!

  • thank you! someone who's speaking some sense!

  • @Youlovesarah not a single smoker is gonna quit because of this ad. Seriously the non smokers ignorance is infinite.

  • @NudistInTheRye

Actually i showed this video to my uncle (he smokes) and he just had a kid (two yrs old).

he promised me he is trying hard

i have been trying him to quit since i was 7

  • @Youlovesarah Umm, actually, the commerical wasn't that long either, and in a busy area like that, as sad as it is, not many people would've stopped. :/

  • if you HONESTLY think this is child abuse, you are a moron...sadly, i can think of a million different things that are worse to do to a child, including having you for a parent...grow a pair.

  • this is b.s. - it was NOT ok to do that to that child.

  • Im sure they had to get permission from the kid himself.

  • Ethicaly, yeah, but legaly probably not. He can't sign a contract or anything giving them permission. It would've been up to his parents.

  • Wtf you talking about? If his parents sign a permission, then it is LEGAL to do it, since they decide for him, its legal. stupid.

  • Are you talking to me or to HellzRhiino? Because I'm pretty sure that's what I said... Ethicaly they should also get the childs permission, but legally it's up to the parents.

  • Come on..

    It's a commercial ad..

Everyone there is playing the part of an actor..

Look at the ads with the people with disfigured

faces or lungs chopped up on a table

and that is worse than anything..

Stop smoking will take 1 or 2 times to try, or it

could take a dozen or more tries to quit smoking.

Keep trying and you will stop smoking..

  • YEs it is very sad to think that adults out there think that this is an acceptable thing to do to a child. It's absolutely amazing. Abusing a child to make a a point. You can't justify that. People on this planet are really that nasty and horrible so unfortunate. Now Alex might grow to think no harm he's ok he dont remember it so therefore... It's still ok?? No.... heh.. no people... damn

  • that's so sad!

  • so sad i just wont to hug him

  • If idiotic people didnt smoke to begin with this wouldnt even be necessary. These anti-smoking ads are so unnecessary. If people are that stupid why waste your t ime and traumatize a little boy for other people's stupidity. Let them smoke their brains our, who cares if t hey wanna kill themselves.

  • POWERFUL

If this does not entice smokers to quit it seems to me that little else would!

  • he's so sad but cute! :(
