someone please help me, im about to sell my 2005 giant stp ayton special edition, can anyone help me put the right price on? some parts are: halo sas rims, formula oro brakes, dirt jumper 1 forks, it has a little rusty skrews, and some scrathes on the frame, please help me! =)
@madhatter0096 - The frame is 2009, and I just built all the parts up from there, so it isn't like something at the store. I made it a 3 speed with a small ring up front, 26 tooth.
@rdensmore18 - Actually yes, I have been looking at the new 26 inch street trials frame the HEX. I've wanted shorter chainstays, so I think it would be pretty awesome. I haven't wanted to go to 24 inch though. Part of the challenge to me is doing this stuff on a full size-ish mountain bike. So yeah, good chance Hex is on the way. I had an injury though so havent been able to do too much other than casual biking. Hopefully Ill be back and on a new bike with a better video summer or so! :)
@bikerike153 yea there really sick trial frames (from what i have seen) becase there a cross over bettween the dj and trial styile pluss danny macaskill rides for them so they cant be bad
how the hell do u bunny hop decently any ways i can only get like 2 - 3 feet
very cool, i have a feeling if i started trying that i would end up laying on the ground and hurting badly, i'm thinking about getting one of these bikes, look really cool
I just bought the frame and totally built it up after that. My cranks are 170's and just a 26 tooth up front with a small bashguard. Gives me some clearance to mess around and not hit stuff. :) So, just a small ring up front, they usually come with small and middle chainrings on the front.
@nbenja3 The Frame was the limited Lenosky edition, and I totally built it from the ground up, so it isn't really any model. I wanted to make it lighter/my own color scheme than what you would buy stock. :)
@nbenja3 Sounds like you are getting the small. Mine is the medium and I think around 16 inches. 14 inch sounds good for your height though, so you made the right choice! ;)
Oh I forgot to ask: what's your gear setting when your doing tricks? I want to practice, see if I can do some of them. thanks! really inspiring video!!
@manumitir - In the video it was 26-24 for Hopping 'Trials' stuff, and 26-19 for moves with a bit more speed. As I said, now I am going with 26-20 and although a bit hard for trials, is still okay for some gaps etc. I am getting used to it more and more.
Great video! I'm about to buy a STP. but I just have a question: how many tooth is your crankset? the stock STP comes with a 36t, but the one on your bike seems smaller, like a 25 maybe.
@manumitir - I am running 26 up front right now, and a 20 tooth in the back. When I made this video I had 3 speeds, but now I went to just one. 26-20 seems to be pretty good for all around stuff, but having a few speeds is nice too. 26 tooth allows you to just have a small gear upfront, and use a small bashguard so you have a lot of clearance on the front sprocket area. That clearance helps a lot for certain tricks, and it is smaller/lighter too. Good luck with your STP! :)
Thanks Elliot. I really like the color scheme etc too. I was pretty specific when I chose what colors to build it with. I'm glad you noticed and appreciated it. :)
Hopefully a new video will be in the works soon. Grad school was rough this year.
I just bought the frame and built it up with my own parts, including building wheels for what I needed. I kinda wanted to make up my own color scheme too with the white fork, seat and cables. Never hurts to look good. :)
Thanks man. About the bike though, I just had one bike in Korea so it needed to be able to do many things, not just trials. I like the challenge of doing trials on a more normal bike too. :)
Avid BB7 although they haven't been as good as I hoped. Sometimes perfect, sometimes not so good, seem to change a lot. I might look for other options soon. :)
Just practice really. Ride things at your level and keep building and progressing. I wish there was some 'trick' to it but it isn't that simple I'm afraid.
Dude your pivots are super tidy! i think you have some real great skills and your hops are pretty great, some advice that I offer you is that you could do so much better riding a "trials dedicated bike" STP's are great! for learning though they are rather bulky and limit you immensly imo you have some great skills and it could be about time you spent some money on a dedicated mate keep up the good work (Y) -lazyact-
Saying something is motivating is the best compliment and really what I hope these can be. More people out having fun, being healthy, pushing themselves.. That is the good life. :)
For gears I made it a 3 speed to always keep a pretty straight chain line for rolling backwards and just overall keeping the chain on. 26 up front, and 24-19-13 in the back. Trials, street, speed. Most vid is in trials mode with some in street. Good luck recovering!
what are the bikes parts?

Since I built it up part by part it cost a bit more, but I think it is worth the ability to make it what you want. It was around $2500 or so.
