  • i can't see any holes in the rocks ...... they need big spaces between the rocks....

  • good idea, but the rocks need to have big spaces for the fish to go in

  • Dude. You said you remove the rocks and clean the sands. What do you do with fish, while you cleaning the tank? How much water do you remove? Is the fish does not get stress? By the way Set Up is Beautiful.

  • dude nice tank.. i have a question. how do you clean inbetween and under rocks??doyou remove everything and then clean or wat?

    thanxs

  • I'll remove the rocks and clean the sand thoroughly once in a few months. I usually do about two water changes a week.

  • EDIT:

I meant to say followed the link to the BLACK background, and then came to this one.

  • I first watched your video called "African Cichlid Aquarium - New Setup", and then followed the link to the blue background, and now to this one. Out of the 3 videos I like this setup the best. Moving the rocks around was a good idea, it gives it a nice open feel. I also like the blue background better than the black for this tank. Nice music choice.

  • what beutiful fish! excellent tank!

  • Amazing tank

  • wow theyve grown quite a bit, i like the setup too. you think a bgk would do well in a tank like that?

  • Got it locally from a retailer that sells Jebo products.

  • are there any fish other than other african cichlids that mix well with african cichlids?

  • Some people mix African cichlids from the different rift lakes. Other will mix S. American cichlids with African cichlids. It's basically all trial and error.

  • what is that orange one?? female msobo?

  • I have a red zebra and a f. msobo. The msobo is 30 seconds into the video.

  • Happy looking fish :)

  • Metriaclima zebra. Common name is Red Top.

  • looks like a yellow zebra. is that a convict cichlid in their too?

  • No convict cichs in here. Thanks! :)

  • love your tank and you cichlids also can you tell me how to sex them and also how to identify what species they are

  • Beautiful. Clean water and healthy, active fish in a minimalist environment is the most beautiful setup imho.

  • how many inches of gravel you got in there?

  • how long is the tank? liters?

  • 4 feet and around 210 liters.

  • Hey can you make a video of your tank with the moonlight in action. I'm thinking of buying one, would love too see how it looks.

  • I also would like to see it in action. Great tank.

  • what does it mean when ur zebra opens its mouth big? like if it was yawning or somthing lol.

because both of my red zebras do that and everyday their mouth seems to get bigger and wider lol

  • I love the set up, great vids.

  • Excellent setup. The silica sand still looks great. How often do you clean your tank? It doesnt take long for cichlids to mess things up, especially that many.

  • I do about 30% water change once a week - at least. Then usually every month or so I do a thorough cleaning. These fish love to rearrange the whole tank themselves. They dig up holes and I'm constantly filling them back in. haha Thanks!

  • Nice setup. Since I moved to a wet dry with a uv sterilzer my water has never been so clear. I recommend a uv sterilizer to everyone even if you don't think you need it. You will be amazed at just how clear the water gets. Also "green water" is a thing of the past no matter how much light or sunlight. Just my thoughts. Todd

  • I agree - the UV sterilizer does amazing things. My father has one he uses for his koi pond and it went from dark, murky water to very clear water. In this tank keeping the water clean and clear isn't a problem. However when I move up to a larger tank I'm definitely going to look into getting one. Thanks for the comment!

  • I didnt think you could submerse the moonlights, they must have some new ones out. I was going to drill my hood and put in 2 of them in but now i might not have to if you can put them in the tank.

  • This moonlight strip is made by Jebo Odyssea and is fully submersible. You can purchase them online from fish stores or even on eBay. It looks really nice at night and the fish seem to enjoy it. Good luck!

  • Fresh!!
