I suggest the scientific rationalists/materialists/objectivists just turn around and not even worry about anything Terence McKenna said about anything. He is so beyond the scientific process and objectivism. Hate to break it to you, but, the Universe and the human experience is also beyond objectivism. So you can take your science balls and go home. Thank you.
in the info section you say its impossible to define that state. Terrence Mckenna likens it to right before the big bang , nothingness. hope i didnt misrepresent his idea here.
@ubermensch81 I would tend to say unity rather then nothingness. before the big bag, everything in the known universe was compressed into a particle the size of a pea. there was no separation, and there still is no separation, only the illusion of it.
"It is impossible to define that state." A state that has no definition (i.e. no characteristics), then by defintion that state cannot exist (i.e. everything that exists has characteristics and can therefore be defined.) If something has no characteristics (is undefinable), in fact, "the state of the universe after Dec 21 2012," is, in itself, a definition (however unhelpful that definition is). If u r attempting to describe a state that cannot be defined, rest assured that state will never be.
What does the "history of philosophy" have to do with it? I'm judgmental of all crackpot pseudoscience ideas put forth as gospel. Anyone who is intellectually honest is skeptical of doomsday myths.
If you said the same thing about Quantum mechanic, QED, or String Theory even you'd be dead wrong. Theres been hundreds of peer review articles written on those subjects. Show me one about novelty theory and i'll apologize. The DIFFERENCE is that the latter is REAL science while "novelty theory" is pseudo science.
It ranks up there with homeopathy and people who believe you can hear ghosts in white radio noise.
@wonslung Terence McKenna was not a scientist. He was much more philosopher. Therefore you misunderstand the "theory". It is not a scientific theory other than the extrapolation of math over a period of time using numbers from the I-Ching. But, you would be well advised to know that Terence McKenna is able to articulate in VERY coherent and even poetic fashion.
When you listen to him speak you begin to understand that science is seriously lacking when trying to explain the things TM tackled. He was probably one of the greatest thinkers in the past 100 years. Things like after death, the NATURE of time and how things appear to affect it and all sorts of metaphysical, cultural phenomena and the human experience.
It appears that YOU don't know your history of Earth. Else, you would realize that the earth changes, in geological time, in short and intense bursts at different points throughout it's history. At least the y2k thing was based on reality. The y2k thing was a very real issue that could have caused problems. The 2012 nonsense is nothing more than a bunch of newage garbage cooked up by people too stupid to understand science, history or common sense.
Are you asking why it ends on the same day as the Mayan Calendar? Good question. McKenna graphed it out years before he had even heard of the Mayan Calendar.
The time wave is a fractal formula, without a time frame.
looking for some salient event to define as a very novel in this last 67 year period he arbitraraly chose the bombing of Hirushima. from that event the end of the time wave was near the mayan calender.
When he did hear about it, he augmented the graph to synch it into this common cultural date.
He was inspired by the I-ching to create the basic fractal formula, yet there is nothing there to imply a time frame.
Not withstanding the assumed divine validity of that ancient text, the timewave collapses into the singularity by repeating whole of history in a hasten mode 3 days before the end of time, and ever acclerating forward to the null point.
Yet, this is a nature of the mathematical formulation of the wave. No dates, no events and no scale.
and when he calibrated it to certain major events it fell into place with other major events, our coming depression the great depression the black death, makes sense....
The source code for the software he used to plot the graph has been "Lost".
so the actual calculations are not to be understood by anyone but him. Moreover, the future prediction of these formulations are NOT available anywhere, and assuming they mean so much in a non-retroactive manner, where are the prediction for next week? next month? next year?
No where, that's where.
If there is any merit to these things how come not even a single person in the whole world gave out a future graph..?
my brother is a quantum physicist teacher, and he tells me that General Relativity has an equation showing how the gravitational potential determines time dilation,, the more negative the gravitational potential, the greater the dilated time. Upon reaching a critical value, the potential causes the dilated time to become infinite, meaning that from our perspective the affected clock would take forever to reach the next second. In other words, that is when its time rate slows to zero.
you know how dangerous could a future graph be for the national security, know start rationalizing about it, if you think you are so smart, most probably that info has been stolen to be kept in a top secret shelf.

@superdiza I don't know if you realize the amount of work he put into this and how he was able to articulate it with speech. He had been working on this theory since 1971 and by the time he died was able to relate it in simple, yet eloquent, terms to lay people. Something science is unable and unwilling to do.
And he did project the graph until late 2012. The graph doesn't track or predict future events. It just indicates a level of "novelty" relative to a time frame.
@tehmushroom well, I think he made a connection between the numbers which were prominent in the I-Ching (such as the number 64 which is also the number of codones in the DNA helix....along with many other #'s) and the physical laws of the Universe, conciousness and the nature of time. I think Novelty theory was meant to be supported by Timewave Zero.
@superdiza actually the date he originally arrived at was in November. About a month before the december mayan date. When he discovered the mayan date was so close he just decided to adjust it. Again, his "theory" is not scientific. The timewave was made to support his theory about novelty in the Universe and on Earth. The scientific process, as I see it, is painfully slow and clumsy. When dealing with the topics McKenna did, the scientific process becomes utterly useless and a hinderance.
Scientific institutions, just like other old-schooled habit-preserving structures are sometimes utterly useless and a hindrance. Yet, the scientific methodology is in the heart of his thinking. Create an hypothesis, extrapolate predictions and conduct an experiment providing merit to your hypothesis.

It's comforting to know that we are currently using only about 7% of our brain. Could a nano-technological discovery unlock the rest? Maybe all that's needed is a critical mass of collective human intention to spark the awakening that has been quietly sleeping within us...
yeah the other guy speaks the truth, sally (salvia divinorum) is a good legal entheogen, there are many others. Surpisingly, there are a lot of entheogens still legal. Can't vouce for them, but as for psychedelics, forget manmade LSD, when natural LSA is avaliable in many plant forms :P Savlia, Fly Agarics, ayhausca, morning glory. These things are easily avaliable. I still understand what you mean though.
In 1997 a girl called lauren was walikng in a forest and then a she just dissapeared no one ever found her untill 2000 when a yoing girl called Mary found her body and markings on her chest saying: I wasnt pretty enough" and now you have read this she will appear in your mirror saying your not pretty enough and kill you. by the way the girl called mary died shortly after.
To be saved paste this to 5 other videos. THIS TRUE.
It's miraculos to see how the animators brought beauty to the creation of a human being. It made me think about how awesome the human structure is and then on the other hand I could not help but think about how man treats man like an animal. He kicks him and puts bullets in his head over nothing. Fucking Pathetic!
if you think its real, then your just a slave to the facets of control that manipulate your information flow. telling you how to act, how to think, what to do, what to eat. Don't listen to the TV screen, hear the hearts cry, your true selves why do you deny?
language is a horrible barrier we deal with and will sonn be changed if not completely done away with we hide inside our minds and deny things inside our minds and stright face lie with words when we know truth is in our minds truth cannot hide from the mind 2012 will be the great change mark my thoughts
and meshuggahfan your commet was amazing i feel that thinking in that way and believeing in what you believe in will be a great thing 5 years down the road i have no idea why nearly all of america is utterly brainwashed and they have no idea they are enslaved and they are completely fine with how they live obese greedy pigs that will be judged FREE your mind
it's in teh food and water my friend. It's in the food and water. Unfortunately i was born stubborn, so I question authority every day. It is the way I am I guess. Maybe I am Thomas Jefferson reincarnated, who knows. Lolz!! Thanks for the comment though :-D
december 21, 2012, we will realize time travel with pure conciousness. If you read ancient history, the Indians (from India), believe that the sun will shoot out a certain wave lenth and that will make us leave our bodies, to show us that all we are is a higher level conciousness stuck into a vessel(your body) in order to exerpience love, loss, etc...
Novelty reaches the asymptote as the return of true consciousness occurs in us. When we realise who we really are, novelty ceases to be, as from then on we create our own reality.

It's comforting to know that we are currently using only about 7% of our brain. Could a nano-technological discovery unlock the rest? Maybe all that's needed is a critical mass of collective human intention to spark the awakening that has been quietly sleeping within us...

Entheogens (psychadelic drugs) unlock a lot of our brain's potential already.
Yet we criminilize and scorn the use of self expansion. Such a fucked up species of greed and corruption we are

One word: Salvia!
eastcoastrulez 4 years ago 2
yeah the other guy speaks the truth, sally (salvia divinorum) is a good legal entheogen, there are many others.

@JTickett Ayhuasca is not LSA.....it is the more powerful Dimethyltriptamine or DMT.

It's miraculos to see how the animators brought beauty to the creation of a human being. It made me think about how awesome the human structure is and then on the other hand I could not help but think about how man treats man like an animal. He kicks him and puts bullets in his head over nothing. Fucking Pathetic!

rise and fall
rise and fall
rise and rise above it all
its just games
played for the masses
if you think its real, then your just a slave to the facets of control that manipulate your information flow. telling you how to act, how to think, what to do, what to eat. Don't listen to the TV screen, hear the hearts cry, your true selves why do you deny?

december 21, 2012, we will realize time travel with pure conciousness.
