As a smoker i think you still get smoke finish, because the smoke goes into your lungs, no matter how well you clean your teeth, your going to have some residual smoke smell slowly coming out of your lungs for some time.

@MrChrismanager its actually likely to be the fact everything else only contaiminated the throat and mouth where as the smoke went into the lungs, so when he exhales deeply he gets remnants of the ciggarettes from the deeper air pockets of the lungs.
