  • To everyone sooking about. "why go over 160kmph", ever heard of a race track? I took my '10 speed triple around Phillip island circuit and I was maxing out 2/3 of the way down the straight at 235kmph. Even 600's were pulling away after that. And it isn't unstable at all at high speed, just lie on the tank and hold on!

  • WOW. How sexy!

  • they look like well mada bikes but i dont see many of them or not at all in the USA

  • I love bikes because it's so entertaining to just slide through the streets, especially more casual curvy roads.

  • Strangely my wife prefers riding on the back of the speed triple, than on the back seat of our touring bike, a Triumph Trophy. She says its easier to get on and off of, and the seat is more comfortable. I never would have guessed it.

  • Noce but my question is, can I take my wife for a ride on this thing? The pillion seat doesn't look very serious.

  • We get boned here in the states with high tariffs.

    *sad face*

    :

  • @Rockynight You don`t know how good you have it.

WE get boned more over here in ireland!

    2011 speed triple in usa, MSRP $11,799 (Euros €8,318) ..where i live...$16,947 (Euros €11,950) 1 dollar =euro 0.705

Plus you get to pay $4 per gallon? Where as i get to pay a touch over $8 per u.s gallon.

    So who`s getting boned again?

  • Love my Speedie had her up to 160 MPH

  • I'm pretty shocked at the state of the forks, for a new machine, they look tatty.

  • In all british video bike test it is always raining or wet road.... not the very best place on earth to own and drive a bike....

  • @merowinger23 Yes it does rain a lot in parts of the UK<however you should notice that the video has not been shot in the UK as they are riding on the right side of the road, not the left as in Britain....Thats why Triumphs handle so well though. They are developed to cope with all kinds of weather, not just the lovely sunny days!

  • @merowinger23 Neither is Kazakhstan but I know where I'd rather ride lol.

  • nice bike but i dont like the front whit that headlights...

  • gawd now thats a boney!!! :) and to think i wanted a gsx600 or aprilia

  • omg where so they test the bike?

in 30km/h zones in front of family houses?^^

    very good test track^^

  • I have this in same colour but i've since fitted a one off RACEFIT MEGA built by the guys at RACEFIT and nice rearsets, to me Triumph stopped just short of perfect, Only fault i find is the idle speed which i find 300 revs too fast but i'm just being picky,

  • what are people getting for mpg

  • i hear stock should see mid to high 30's

  • 09 orange S3 here..

riding it like it should be.. hooligan like~45-50ish

riding with a few of my Harley buddies at their pace~74mpg was my best

  • ! of my all time favorite bikes, but people have been talking about thr reliability issues with triumph bikes.R Triumphs as

    durable as the JAPS?

  • I have absolutely no problems with my 09 version at all. And a couple of my Jap riding friends are looking to get Triumphs this spring

  • I have a 2000 Speed Triple. From spring to fall, weather permitting, it's all I drive.

Over the past decade, I've changed oil & filter annually, and once had to tighten a header pipe to address a small leak that developed. That's it.

    So is it reliable? Yep.

Plus NO ONE mistakes it for another generic crotch-et. And if you get challenged by some a novice on his R6, you get to crush an ego. Bonus.

  • best bike ever made, dont like the back end on the 08/09 model tho i like the 05/06/07 shape much more

  • call me dumb, but what is the difference between the street triple and the speed triple?

  • @gammathetasbear

Speed Triple is 1080 cc, Street Triple is around the 675cc area

  • 1050 cc vs 675 cc

  • The power, man... lots of power!

  • @gammathetasbear engine size

  • There are a few other differences too. The Speed has a single swing arm where the Street is more standard.

  • Looks so much better in jet black

  • @Vaxxel

I think you meant to say "roulette green" like mine right?

  • Nice review.

They're N1 indeed! I've owned two and have this 2008 model (Arrow race exhaust).

They go like a rocket e.g., 0-60 in 3-sec stock exhaust (modern MotoGP bike 0-60 2.5-sec with launch & wheelie control), superb handling on the road (especially UK roads) & track with a couple clicks and a comfortable all-rounder.

I'm not anti sport bikes either as I'll probably get a Ducati 1198S because I love those too, but I'll never be without my Speed Triple and it'll get the most use.

  • This bike is N1, pure fun also gsx-r 750 is of the best bikes around, anyways who buys a crappy hayabusa why they even call it a bike?

its likes a panzer tank you only can go forwards and the pleasure in bikes is about twisties not drag racing.

  • i just came

  • I think the rear wheel looks really cool !

  • I've got one and I love it!!

  • I recently bought a 2006 Speed Triple and love it. The smoothness of the power delivery as well as the sheer power, the fighter-jet-engine sound of the motor, the nimbleness of the handling, and the hard-core sexiness of this machine are incomparable.

  • This is a great looking bike, and it is also my ideal bike. I like it in white or blue or something like that. The color is def important.

  • i have a Ducati Monster S4Rs, but i love this Triumph model...

I might get one someday... a very unique edition... 20th aniversary, perhaps? :D

  • Trading in my Ninja for one of these beasts next spring!

  • Goddam I love this bike. Now I just need to get my license and some spare cash, haha.

  • dont like the rear end, looks like the desighers just said" hey we will stop here" and didnt bother finishing it.

    i love the bike though.

  • i got the same bike except mines a 2000 model.

  • It´s a little light next to the rev counter that lights up when youre about to hit the red zone. shifting then gives you the best acceleration. It`s good so you can concentrate on the road ahed:-)

  • wouldnt be the same without them...i love them...

  • how are they ugly?

its the speed tripple's signiture thing

  • thanx 4 the sic vid can u tell me what year model it is

  • are you deaf?

it says at the start that its 2008 -_-

  • its a great bike but it looks like the designer just said "hey lets just stop here" while makin the rear end.

  • i love naked bikes. Thats probably all i will ever buy, but what is the big deal with going over 100mph. Thats the reason why people dont like motorcyclists is because of all the retards disobeying EVERY road rule. Seriously keep it under 100mph. I love just going on super curvey(?) roads.

  • @halo2kitten

I totally have to agree with you. I don't like speeding either but love twisty roads a lot.

    I own a SV 650 N K8 and my next bike should be a Street Triple R or a Ducati Monster 696.

  • @halo2kitten naked bikes are not as aerodynamic as a bike with a shell. at high speed on a naked bike air will hit any part that is not streamlined like handlebars, lights, frame, engine and it will create turbulence making your right very unstable.

But i love naked bikes so yeah :)

  • @halo2kitten

You just get sooner from A to B when doing 100+

    D-uh.

  • @MonstUrrwin Thereby reducing the amount of time you have to enjoy on the machine..... and provided you don't have a chat with local law enforcement.

  • @halo2kitten

Boys have a thirst for speed and Im very thirsty.

  • @halo2kitten So what you're saying is it's ok to break the law, but only until at least 30mph over the legal limit.

  • @halo2kitten pussssy

  • Just got the ST 2009 - lovely bike - goes round corners like she's on rails. Came from SV1000 - which I'll keep for the +100mph runs.

  • Why is it in the U.S., theres only "crotch rockets" or Harleys? Too many posers? The best bikes are the ones in between! I ride a Buell and love the Speed Triple and cant imagine why anyone would ride a "crotch rocket" (i hate that term). Theyre fun at over 100mph, and for about 20 mins anywhere else! Harleys (or their Jap counterparts) just arent fun for me! They look cool tho! People need to open their minds and not be SHEEP!

  • But if everyone bought the same bike as you would you be a sheep too?

  • My sister brought the exact bike and after taking it for a ride i'm jealous as hell!!!!

Plenty of grunt and handles a treat, great bike!

  • Plenty of grunt and handles a treat. But enough about your sister, how's the bike?

    Just kidding!!!

  • Unbeatable technology. 3 IS INDEED GREATER THAN 4. I am selling both Harleys to buy some BRITISH IRON. ''TEAM TRIUMPH OF WISCONSIN'' is by far the best Triumph only shop in the country!!

  • well that is unless you're near the original factory in Hinkley in the UK, which is just down the road from me :)

  • I just had the plessure to test ride this bike today. And im totaly...WOW... for me there is no other engine than the tripple. It has torque, power and it runs so smoothly that sometimes u think u got a 2 and a 4 cylinder engine in this bike. The only bad thing is that the wind presses u back so much cos of no cover that u cant realy ride long fast trips. But with a windshield this would be the perfect bike.

  • triple treat

  • I just had to say that the arguments in all these comments are very entertaining. ha ha About the bike, it is an incredible machine. It is just to bad that the U.S. doesn't have more bikes like it, such as the Moto Morini Corsarro. Euro bikes are by far my favorite bikes. They are all unique. Thank god Triumph is being sold here. The first dealer in my city just came in about 6 months ago. Still aren't selling though.

  • Anyone that had ridden a naked bike for a spell would easily know the impracticality of asserting which was best based on top speed.

Naked bikes suck at 100+ mph but are pure heaven and more fun than any repli-racer below the 'Ton'. Globally this is one of the most respected streetfighters anywhere, it's just that naked bikes dont seem to have found 'traction' in the USA which if you havent realized has the most narrow choices of motorcycles than almost anywhere in the world.

  • I've been to Europe many times and can understand why streetfighters are very popular there. Streets are tight, windy, etc... here in North America for the most part streets are like a checker board. I agree with the suck over 100 + I'm in Canada and even with a windscreen on my GS 500 naked....fucking sucks but love streetfighters. I'd like to upgrade to a Speed of Street Triple or perhaps a Buell but so many people up here hate buell. Maybe its a street/Harley thing.

  • It's a shame when folks have comments about bikes they evidently have never ridden.

Not trying to be antagonistic my good fellow but it isnt called the Speed Triple because it is faster than the Street Triple.

I suppose the Street Triple is the beginings of it's own legacy of middle-weight Triumph Triple street bikes.

A few years back Triumph had stated that it is going to focus on it's strengths from now on which is producing parallel twins and triple cylinder engines.

  • sigh...

Julius what have you turned this into.

Why compare a streetbike with a repli-racer and/or hypersport tourer?

Triumph bike names have a reason and a legacy to them (mostly). The 'Speed Triple' is a name inheritor from the 'Triumph Speed Twin' from days of yore.

Speed Triple with a faring is called a "Daytona" (circa 2004 and prior). Again, a name with a legacy as Triumph used to run in the original Daytona races pre and post WW-II.

  • RAW describes it well. Got this bike a few weeks ago and just love it. Transmission isnt as smooth as japanese bikes but this bike isnt about finess...it's about raw power and adrenaline. The sound is just amazing and it's always taunting you to twist that throttle...and it's hard to say no...

  • damn... thought the 675 was beastly... 1050!?

  • An all-around great, raw bike.

  • Its Called a SPEED triple because it is faster than the STREET Triple. And as for generalizing that all naked bikes are slow is just stupid!!! The only reason this bike is under tuned is because triumph didnt want sales taken away from the Daytona 675. And the Hayabusa is garbage and no longer the fastest production bike! The MV Agusta F4 tamburini is!

  • Holy crap! My GSX-R750 creates just as much rear wheel horsepower, and approximately 250 cc's less. I thought about trading my GSXR for a speed triple, but now that I know this little fact, I'm going to stick with GSXR's. It might seem like a downgrade in speed.

  • I've ridden a GSXR 750 and a Speed Triple, and I love the 750 for it's complete focus on going quickly. Only thing is, I find you do really need to be going quickly to get the best ouf of the 750. The Speed Triple is more upright and not an all out sport bike, but has a fantastic engine with a great powerband. You can just leave it in 4th all day. Great around town as well. Just depends what you're looking for in a bike. They are both fantastic bikes, but with different purposes.

  • yes dont switch to speed triple. less speed would mean you're less likely to kill yourself and that wouldnt serve humanity.

going to trade between 2 completely different bikes but giving up because the road bike has less hp per cc than a race rep.......... k.

  • Agreed, he obviously knows nothing about torque either. Try a speed triple before you open your mouth next time.

  • No need. I sold my GSXR 750 and picked up a Hayabusa, so you can take your torque comment and chuck it out the window. My Busa has around 170 horsepower with about 100 ft/lbs of torque:^) I like it so much more than the 750:^) Still would like to own a triple, but would not give up my Hayabusa or the GSXR 750 for one. Glad to see that my taste in bikes can piss so many people off. I wonder what would have happened if I said I like pickles better than cheese?

  • Moron! The comment was in comparison to your mighty GSXR 750; a busa is 1300cc and will obviously have more power than a 1050cc

You have still missed the point though, you should have test ridden a triple before you bought your busa. They are about fun, not about straight line speed or paper stats.

If you wish to argue about how your bike is better then look up the words consistent & relevant in the dictionary

It isnt your taste that provokes comment, its your misguided opinion

  • Like I said, it's nice to see that my taste in bikes can ruffle the feathers of douche nozzles like you wOffle. The Busa comment was just to let you know that I understand the principles of torque, as I ride a bike with more torque than the triple. One more thing, you fucking retard, straight line speed is fun for me. Consequently, I chose not to go with the speed triple. I also never said my GSXR 750 was mighty.

  • I just wasn't expecting the 750 to out horsepower the speed triple. Pull your panties out of a knot, and realize that I was not ripping on your precious speed triple, or saying that I didn't like it. I just chose a bike based on my riding preferences, which constitutes straight line speed and acceleration. If you don't like my preference, or my posting of my preference, then go get yourself fucked, you cunt:^)

  • It would appear that you are the one that cant keep a cool head, your grasp the on English language is not only fascinating but also poignant.

Unbeknown to you, you have traded of the best handling and all rounds machines (GSXR 750) for a total one trick pony (Busa).

I am happy you have now a basic understanding of what torque means, your next lesson should be cornering, you might not find any information in the US about that though.

  • Funny to see someone like you try so hard to be something you obviously are not. Clearly w0ffle, you must be a university english professor (LMAO). Perhaps I should comment on your lack of proper grammar and mechanics. Firstly, you should have a period after "head," and then a new sentence should be started with "your grasp." The same goes for your last statement. That is, you have three sentences connected by commas, and this is called a run on sentence, just in case you didn't finish grade 7

  • I ran our of space for that last period:^) Now, english lesson set aside, you once again fail to see that not everyone has your same preference in motorcycles. As I stated, but you clearly failed to comprehend, I care very little about cornering and knee dragging. My preference in riding entails high speed, and getting up to high speed very quickly. Being 6" 2', and 210 pounds, I can handle the Busa just fine. The 750 was simply too small for me. What stupid ass thing do you have to say next?

  • You're obviously a fucking tool. Michaeldenham11 had an intelligent response. He saw that I wasn't bashing the triple, just that I had a misunderstanding about its capabilities. I thought, being as how it's a "SPEED Triple", that it was built for speed. That is, I thought it was a naked sport bike. You on the other hand presume that just because someone likes to drive fast, and they prefer one bike over the one that you like, that they deserve to kill themselves. Four words...you are a douche.

  • If you thought speed triple would be fast because of the name, maybe you thought your precious Hayabusa can fly given the name means "Peregrine Falcon".

That's even more lame than not switching from sportsbike to funbike because sportsbike makes few more hp.

So you like going fast? You do realise SPEED TRIPLE IS NAKED BIKE THUS NOT VERY FAST, at least not in comfortable way.

  • I went with my Hayabusa, not for a few more hp, but around 30-40 more hp. Driving fast is definitely one of the ways I would define my riding style, and the Busa outdoes the Triple in that sense. As far as a naked bike being a slower bike, that is a lame assumption. Just because a bike lacks fairings, that means it's immediately "not very fast"? Look at the B-King jackass. Slap some fairings on the triple, and with it's aggressive styling, it could easily pass as a sport bike.

  • hi,ive tried a speed triple i did like it great engine ,ive owned a superduke mk2 plagued with faults ,and had a gixxer k5 750 ,the gixxer 750 is a great allround package and will gives that 120+ thrill factor which is missing from naked bikes got a k6 gixxer 1000 its best bike so far grin factor, either bad wrist or bad neck ,but would not rule a speed triple ,due to the amount people in the being jailed for doing 120 mph

  • @Julius314159 dude gsx750 no need to trade such a beast!

  • damned after usin a t 301 i 've got the 1050, what a bike, u must try this, but my heart is still with the 301 old school way dude, full throttle

  • love this bike !!

  • GOOD review! Can you guys make something like this for the STREET TRIPLE?

  • nice!!!!
