  • Great Joe South song - thanks for uploading it.

  • This song was found at Capitol Records , on a reel of tape and a note that he hated singing and he wanted to go home.... I think the pressure got to him.... all the hit songs he wrote and sang.... his personal problems.... I feel he is one of the BEST songwriters ever in American POP !

  • I grew up listening to Joe South. This is my fav song. He used to be in the mental Institution that my ma worked Highland Hospital in the 70's

  • I think that his brother committed suicide, and it really threw Joe for a loop.

  • @Fol4all My mom and her friend worked at highland Hospital in the 70's , from all accounts Joe was pretty cool

  • Capitol 2248 (B side) (4:38)

One of Mr.South's premier works here, tucked away on the B side of "Games People Play". I'm on my second copy of this gem, having played the first copy into scratch-and-skipdom. Love that Coral electric sitar with the wah-wah; and the breakdown at 3:20 is straight out of left field - makes no sense but makes perfect sense. One of the best B sides ever!
