This was such a favorite bit from the Strange Medicine tour! I have it on a bootleg DVD but another concert, NOT as cool as this one, and I've never seen him crack up like that! Anybody know: how many different tailcoats did he wear? (The only one I could have done without was the black & white "cow" version!) Sorry but I have to agree that this tour was the beginning of the end. I believe even he realized it and that's why he quit. His vocals during this time could not compare to the old Journey days nor to Arnel's now. Just watch Stoned in love during the same time by "RaisedOnRadio92". Can you say Trainwreck? Why didn't he use his solo music instead of relying on Journey songs? Riding on the coat tails of "Journey" is more like it.
jeangrey65, The voice is not like a keyboard or guitar. The voice does change some as you age but Steve still sounds great. He has such a unigue voice that when you hear his voice you know instantly that it is Steve Perry. You can't say that about every vocalist. As for him singing Journey songs he is and always will be Journey. He was with the band for years and they had the biggest success with him. He has a huge following of fans over the years and there is nothing wrong with that.

You know what I noticed about this video was that he didn't freak out when the guy came on stage he very calmly ask "who is this guy" he didn't start freaking and moving away and yelling for security he's just way too cute and handled it like a real man. Isn't that Coat from the 86' "Raised on Radio" era? Curios choice of song being that Lovin' Touchin' is from the early part of the ride. Perhaps "Be Good to Yourself" would have been a better choice here to accurately represent "The Coat" making an "appearance". Does anyone agree with this logic or am I off the Mary Jane wagon again?
I think it is simply used because it became known as pretty much his trademark along with what I call his "Indian dance". Don't think he used it as any kind of prop to represent events in any chronological order. I think Lovin' Touchin' was a very appropriate song to use here due to the sexy overtones of his performance.

You know what I noticed about this video was that he didn't freak out when the guy came on stage he very calmly ask "who is this guy" he didn't start freaking and moving away and yelling for security he's just way too cute and handled it like a real man. I love it when he goes "HELLO" when the man starting rubbing against the coat, too cute.

This video is the best example of why we love him. It's a lot more than his voice. Journey can hire every Perry sound-alike on the planet, but none will EVER have his energy, his stage charisma, his sense of humor, or showmanship. Nobody can play to a crowd or entrance them like he can. I saw the 86 ROR concert in the Meadowlands, the day after the Mets won the World Series. Boy, did he know how to get us going; a Mets hat, a Mets jersey. Sorry, but no one else will ever come close.

You leave a concert NOT feeling as if you've just watched a guy sing for 2 hours, you leave feeling that you've been part of an EXPERIENCE. These guys bring the audience along for the ride, and no one does it better than Steve Perry did!

I swear, I turned into a pool of drool once he unleashed that magnificent hair. LOL He knew exactly what he was doing, making the audience go crazy.
I've had way too much fun in the last couple of days getting to know this gorgeous singer (vocally and look wise, heheh) on YouTube... I'm entertained alright! And from what I've read on the net, SP is a sweet guy, with his heart in the right place. Glad I've discovered him and the music of Journey, as well...

Isn't that Coat from the 86' "Raised on Radio" era? Curios choice of song being that Lovin' Touchin' is from the early part of the ride. Perhaps "Be Good to Yourself" would have been a better choice here to accurately represent "The Coat" making an "appearance". Does anyone agree with this logic or am I off the Mary Jane wagon again?

I think it is simply used because it became known as pretty much his trademark along with what I call his "Indian dance". Don't think he used it as any kind of prop to represent events in any chronological order. I think Lovin' Touchin' was a very appropriate song to use here due to the sexy overtones of his performance.

His tails and coat are his trademark, but when Journey performed Lovin touchinsqueezin. Steve used to do a little talk story so it was very appropriate to bring that relationship song and make a joke about the coat thing with "LTS" I thought it was incredible --what Stve just did -how original. he was definitley a gifted performer and that VOICE. I wish the audio was better -- I have LOVED journey/SP since I heard them 1st on MTV when it 1st aired I have loved them eversince. esp Steve!!!

Steve Perry is the best!!! Unfortunately, Journey is hiring and losing too many lead singers. They are just trying to continue to reap in the benefits of the legacy that Steve left behind. Steve can do it all on his own without them backing him up..but they can't go anywhere and keep a frontman. He is THE VOICE!!! then, now and forever

haha yeah, I did too when I was little...I had no idea who he was though..back then. It was when I saw the "after the fall" music video my dad had shown me. I fell in love with his voice when I was a toddler.

If it's true, I can't wrap my head around Steve being called "pappy or poppy". But if true this is quite a surprise. What will Stevie surprise us with next? Maybe a comeback album of lullabies. I think Steve prefers to be worshipped from a far. If he wanted to get back into the business he would. He certainly has the resources to do that. He appears to be content with his life as it is. I guess we will have to learn to be content with what he left us - an incredible legacy of great songs.

I agree with you-as long as he is healthy, at peace and happy with his life, that's all that I care about. He left us so much of himself, in music and interviews. I do pray for him - that's one thing I can do for him after all the good music he gave me.
