Calleja has always sung with discipline, patience, and he's reaping the benefits with his continued success and his impressive longevity. He was one of the winners of Operalia 99, along with Villazon and Fillianoti. And where is Villazon now? Fillainoti is having difficulties as well. Calleja is the best tenor to appear since Bjiorling, or Pavarotti. He's one of the greatest.

Thank you for posting this. We were there last night and were overwhelmed by the excellence of everybody. For all Renee fans, seen live you learn what a subtle and moving actress she is, and if you think her beautiful from DVD's etc - she is infinitely more so in the theatre. We haven't even had to mention her utterly distinctive and glorious voice!

It is the same production as the one in 1994 with Angela Gheorghiu (she became famous at that moment), Lopardo and Nucci, direction Solti. I like Gheorghiu more than Fleming, but it only is my point of view.
